Join John Zeigler, Jordan Blankenship, Nico Gualdoni, and Hunter Zeigler in Episode 2 of The Clusterbuck Podcast as they discuss hunting whitetails on public land in Illinois. Public Land Hunting is nothing new, but with the emergence of new shows like TheHuntingPublic, MeatEater and others, it is drawing many hunters to hunt Public Lands. Public land hunting is typically synonymos with the west, where the hunting opportunities overlap with the vastness of public land resources. Our main bullet points for this podcast are Why Illinois?, Public Land Hunting vs. Private Land, When to hunt, How to hunt, where to hunt, post hunt tips, and our recomendations on how we would tackle it as a non-resident. We also look at the 2022-2023 harvest report data from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to help get you started if you have no idea where to hunt.

Colorado OTC Drop Camp | Giant Bull in the roughest terrain we've ever been in
Hunter Zeigler, Tyler Cheek & Jordan Blankenship are back at it on Days 2 & 3 of their Colorado OTC Drop Camp. Day 2 is full of bugles from a giant bull the locals refer to as "old faithful", this bulls sheds were found the year before and scored a whopping 380 inches. Early alarms and long hikes through some of the thickest oak bush in the country are what it took to get close to this giant bull. Join the boys as they get within rifle range of this once in a lifetime bull.
Viewer Discretion is advised on this video, a lot of emotions were expressed after sighting the bull but we felt it was necessary to be transparent with our viewers. A lot goes into these hunts as any elk hunter would know!

The Clusterbuck Podcast Episode 1 | New Illinois Rifle Law Breakdown, straight wall cartridges.
Hunter Zeigler, Nico Gualdoni, Allen Montgomery, and Jordan Blankenship discuss the New Illinois Rifle Season.
According to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources
"Effective Jan. 1, 2023, the legal calibers for single-shot rifles are:
a bottleneck centerfire cartridge of .30 caliber or larger with a case length not exceeding one and two-fifths inches, OR
a straight-walled centerfire cartridge of .30 caliber or larger.
Both must be available as a factory load with the published ballistic tables of the manufacturer showing a capability of at least 500-foot pounds of energy at the muzzle.
Full-metal jacket bullets may not be used to harvest deer.
These caliber specifications are the same that hunters may be familiar with for handgun deer hunting in previous years. The barrel of a handgun shall be at least 4 inches."
You can find all the new rules and regulations on IDNR's website. A super useful "Legal Cartridges" pdf is available. The list isn't exhaustive but does give hunters a solid breakdown and plenty of choices.

Typical 13-point Southern Illinois Giant | Miracle Shot and Recovery, What made this shot lethal??
Hunter Zeigler (@hziggy4)was able to lay his hands on a typical 13-point Southern Illinois giant.
This might be one of the luckiest shots of all time and we still aren't sure what exactly made it a lethal shot... Comment what you believe made it lethal below.
Check out his caption below days after the initial shot took place. ⬇️⬇️
“Four Days and a whirlwind of emotions later, I have my hands on him.
Early this morning on his way to work, my dad miraculously spotted the white belly of the buck I stuck with my bow earlier in the week. When he told me he spotted him from the road, I was in pure disbelief, knowing the shot I made was terrible.
If you haven’t watched the shot yet, go to @recruitcreative and check it out so you can see why I assumed the deer was still on his feet at this point.
To be fully transparent, this whole situation makes me sick as a hunter to
1. Make a terrible shot
2. Hardly track the deer and assume the shot wasn’t lethal.
3. Find him days later with no meat salvageable.
This last week has taught me a few important concepts. Things in life never really go the way you imagine them to go and don’t ever assume you know exactly what happened and give up. We certainly thought this recruit was still running around with a just a scar on his back!”
#recruitem #buyahatbagabooner #guarnteed #recruitcreative #bowhunting #huntillinois #bowhuntingwhitetails
We are not sponsored by any broadhead companies but we would strongly recommend shooting a Rage Hypodermic after seeing what it did to this deer. It took a non-lethal shot and made it lethal, the deer was found less than 200 yards from the stand

DIY Porch Swing Hang! Adding structural pieces and installing through a vinyl ceiling (Was it hard?)
In this video we hang a 48" (4 ft) Wide Porch Swing on our front porch! We installed brackets through our Vinyl Ceiling instead of actually peeling the ceiling off and having to re-install it after the hang. This also allowed us to maintain the integrity of the ceiling without having to damage any of it in the removal or installation process.
Some materials needed in our project:
1 - 2" x 6" piece of construction lumber approximately 4' used.
8 - 3 1/2" Powerlag screws: https://amzn.to/40OK72W
1 - Porch Swing Hanging Kit (linked below)
4- Stainless Steel Chain Quicklinks: https://amzn.to/3lxK0IS

YETI Roadie 48 Cooler Review! Is this cooler on wheels worth the $450 or should you save your money?
In this video we are taking a look at the new Yeti Roadie 48 cooler on wheels. We reviewed the younger sibling of this cooler, the Yeti 24 Roadie Cooler in Charcoal a year or two ago and have been loving it ever since.
It has been our go-to cooler as it has the perfect amount of storage, solid ice retention, and a small footprint so that it may fit within your vehicle. Perfect for road trips! (Hint the name roadie!)
This Yeti on 48 quart cooler on wheels is basically the 24 cooler scaled to twice the size and features a sleek telescoping handle that has plenty of length to provide excellent leverage when loaded down.
The biggest cons of this cooler are the price point ($450 at the time of this video) and heavy weight when loaded down.
The biggest pros of this cooler are the depth (near 15.5” of vertical clearance) and obviously the wheels. Also, a drain plug is included unlike the yeti 24 roadie! That’s a big bonus.
Link to purchase this cooler: https://alnk.to/5F7FUoF
Link to our review of the much more affordable yeti 24: https://youtu.be/NT_SJjdc1-Y
Link to purchase the yeti 24 roadie: https://alnk.to/7fmuJID
Our ice test showed the cooler capable of having ice storage for 4-5 days provided ideal conditions with a 70 degree climate. Expect to knock a day off in a warmer climate! On the other hand, we loaded the cooler full of drinks (approximately 60% of the space occupied) so it’s possible to get longer ice retention if you only occupied 50% of the space, 40%….etc!
