Protests erupt in Iran after Israeli airstrike embassy in Syria
People have been burning American and Israeli flags in Tehran after an Israeli airstrike hit the Iranian embassy in Damascus, Syria.
The attack killed Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, who oversaw Iran’s military and intelligence operations in Syria and Lebanon, as well as his deputy, Brigadier General Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi, and a Lebanese Hezbollah member.
The attack came hours after an Iranian-backed Iraqi militia claimed credit for a drone attack that targeted an Israeli military base in the port city of Eilat.
In recent weeks Israel has also escalated its airstrikes against Hezbollah in Lebanon, signalling its growing impatience with the militant group’s cross-border attacks that have emptied out parts of northern Israel.

Moscow terror attack: Russia claims ISIS not responsible

Russian officials have repeatedly cast doubt on Western intelligence assertions that Islamic State was responsible for the attack, despite the group's own claim of responsibility, suggesting instead that Ukraine was behind it.

Soldier Left Behind Fights For His Life (REAL FOOTAGE)
On March 4, 2002, TSgt John Chapman and 6 Navy SEALs participated in Operation Anaconda, the objective of which was to disrupt Tal!ban and al-Q@eda forces.
That night, the team was to fly in a Chinook helicopter to Takur Ghar Mountain in eastern Afghanistan to set up a observation post An AC-130 had scanned the area shortly before with thermal vision for hostiles, but could not pick up anything.
However, insurgents had hidden in bunkers under the thick blanket of snow and took such heavy fire on the team's Chinook on approach that the electronics failed, a fire broke out and Navy SEAL Neil Roberts fell out of the tailgate. After the helicopter made an emergency landing about 10km away, the soldiers decided to voluntarily fly back into the danger zone to rescue their comrade.
As soon as the team dismounted from the helicopter, it came under heavy machine gun fire and moved into position. Chapman, however, called in an AC-130 and then fought his way alone through the heavy snow to one of the bunkers, where he killed 2 enemy at close range. He then attacked a second bunker, where he was hit and collapsed. When yet another team member was shot, the squad leader decided to take evasive action, overlooking Chapman in the darkness and leaving him behind.
The latter, despite his life-threatening injury, regained consciousness some time later, resumed the fight and shot an enemy who was rushing toward him. Although hit again, he wrestled down another insurgent in hand-to-hand combat. Hearing the Quick Reaction Force helicopter at dawn, Chapman charged out of cover one last time and drew fire to prevent the enemy from shooting down the helicopter. Completely blanked and after 16 shrapnel / gunshot wounds, Chapman finally suffered a final hit to the heart and died.
The fierce battle on the hill continued into the evening, claiming the lives of 7 U.S. soldiers. Chapman was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor in August 2018.

Putin gains huge lead in Russia’s presidential election
Putin was tonight predicted to win the election by a landslide, with about 88 per cent of the vote, state-run exit polls showed.
Large queues had previously formed at midday at polling stations across the country as voters answered a call by the widow of opposition leader Alexei Navalny to take part in “Noon against Putin”, a peaceful protest.
Yulia Navalnaya, 47, had asked supporters of her husband to go to vote en masse at midday, and either spoil their ballot or vote for any candidate except Putin, 71.
Navalnaya herself joined a queue outside Russia’s embassy in Berlin, as similar gatherings were seen in cities around the world, including London. Wearing a black jacket, Navalnaya received flowers from supporters as she waited to vote.

Bernie Sanders Advocates for Shorter Workweeks: The Case for a 32-Hour Workweeks
Shorter workweeks may lead to a reduction in overall productivity. When employees work fewer hours, there is less time available to complete tasks, meet deadlines, and produce goods or services. This can result in lower output levels, or increase stress since employers will overload tasks onto workers.
With shorter workweeks, businesses may experience decreased output levels. This reduction in production can lead to lower revenues for firms, particularly if demand remains constant. As a result, businesses may face financial challenges, which can negatively affect investment, expansion, and job creation.
While shorter workweeks may enhance employee well-being and work-life balance, they can also increase labor costs for businesses. If firms maintain the same level of compensation despite reduced hours, they will incur higher hourly wage expenses. This could lead to businesses facing pressure to cut costs elsewhere, potentially impacting investment, and hiring.
In some cases, shorter workweeks could exacerbate unemployment. If businesses are unable to maintain production levels with reduced work hours, they may resort to layoffs or hiring freezes to control costs. This can contribute to higher unemployment rates, which in turn can reduce consumer spending and dampen economic growth.
Shorter workweeks may also affect consumer spending patterns. If workers have fewer hours or face job insecurity due to reduced demand for labor, they may become more cautious with their spending. This can lead to a decrease in overall consumer demand, which is a significant driver of economic activity.
Shorter workweeks in one sector can disrupt supply chains, affecting other industries and sectors dependent on timely inputs. This can lead to inefficiencies, delays, and increased costs throughout the economy.
In a globalized economy, businesses may face challenges if shorter workweeks make them less competitive compared to firms in other countries where longer workweeks are the norm. This could lead to a loss of market share and reduced exports.

The Chinese foreign ministry said on Thursday that if Washington was using national security reasons to undermine competition from overseas, then there was “no fairness to speak of”.
The bill passed overwhelmingly on Wednesday amid fears of data security and Beijing’s influence over 150 million US users.

Israel kills significant Hamas member in Lebanon airstrike
The Israeli army says it killed a “significant” Hamas member in an airstrike in southern Lebanon on Wednesday, part of an increased offensive in the country over the past few days.
Hadi Ali Mustafa, who the army said was responsible for attacks against Israeli and Jewish targets around the world, was an associate of Saleh al-Arouri, who was killed in a targeted Israeli attack in Beirut in January. The strike on the car in Tyre that killed Mustafa also left a Syrian passer-by dead, according to local reports.
Israel has expanded the scope of its military activity against the Shia militia group Hezbollah in Lebanon and is operating far from the Israeli border, attacking significant military targets.

US House passes bill that could lead to TikTok ban
A bill to force an end to Chinese ownership of TikTok and which could lead to a ban in the United States passed its first hurdle in the House of Representatives by an overwhelming bipartisan vote.
Republicans and Democrats joined forces to reach the necessary two-thirds majority by 352 to 65 to require ByteDance, the owners, to divest from the video-sharing app used by 150 million Americans. If it fails to act within six months of the bill passing then the app would be banned.
The Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Bill now moves to the Senate where the argument is expected to be much closer and could take weeks to be scrutinised before being put to a vote. President Biden has said he will sign the bill if Congress sends it to his desk.

Biden's Wealth Tax: The Downsides You Need to Know
Joe Biden has proposed a $7.3 trillion budget for fiscal 2025, focusing on increasing taxes on the wealthy and corporations, raising the corporate tax rate, imposing higher taxes on individuals earning over $400,000 annually, and introducing a minimum income tax for those with over $100 million in wealth. This isn't about it being effective, it's to win over the public before the election since the majority of people don't understand much about the economy and dislike corporations or rich people. When Trump lowered taxes it brought back 1.5 trillion from overseas and encouraged international competitiveness. Some problems of a wealth tax is their tendency to discourage investment and savings due to reduced returns, distort behaviors by incentivizing asset hiding or non-productive investments, diminish rewards for risk-taking, prompt capital flight as wealthy individuals seek lower-tax jurisdictions, pose administrative challenges with complex valuation and monitoring requirements, and potentially lead to double taxation if assets are already subject to other taxes.
The budget proposal also addresses various policy areas favored by Democrats, such as tighter immigration controls at the U.S.-Mexico border and increased aid for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. The budget faces challenges in a divided Congress where Republicans have criticized it for "reckless spending". The proposal serves as a campaign pitch for Biden, he doesn't really care because he would've done it the first year and not the last.
