'Spaceport Cantina' album promo
"Somewhere between alien reggae-rock, hybrid-orchestral and 80s TV show themes...is 'Spaceport Cantina!' -Jamsphere Rock Radio
"It's a soundtrack to some imaginary space-movie that someone needs to make immediately!" -Melk
Between stardates 2015 and 2019, there was much activity creating music for commercials and various promotional videos.
During this period--and working with a mysterious audio production group known simply as The Syndicate--some of this material did really well, showing up in various advertisements in distant lands.

"Somewhere between alien reggae-rock, hybrid-orchestral and 80s TV show themes...is 'Spaceport Cantina!'
"It's a soundtrack to some imaginary space-movie that someone needs to make immediately!"
Between stardates 2015 and 2019, there was much activity creating music for commercials and various promotional videos.
During this period--and working with a mysterious audio production group known simply as The Syndicate--some of this material did really well, showing up in various advertisements in distant lands.
Other material--upon presentation--was presented with the verdict: ‘this sucks’.
That last category informs a large part of what is on this album. :)
To be clear, the head Syndicate mastermind liked a lot of what was done, but said it wasn’t right for commercial purposes, and sounded more like TV show themes. Some of this material had already found a great home in non-domestic newscasts, television thrillers and local Habitat for Humanity videos...and there was so much material that--while not being right for commercials selling sunglasses or aluminum foil--was still pretty fun to listen to.
It reminded me of a rag-tag fugitive fleet of cantina inhabitants like you’d find in Star Wars’ Mos Eisley Spaceport. Gritty, weird, mysterious characters that came from disparate parts of the galaxy, all sitting together having strange chemical concotions (drinks) and listening to strange music before breaking out into a fistfight (or worse).
80s TV shows themes, pop-rock horn sections and synthwave, alien percussion and tortured guitar strings...these are all the elements that came together to be ‘Spaceport Cantina’.
Shields up. Initiate playback.

Almost Useful Electric Guitar Sounds
Using a Charvel Model #4 through a Fractal Audio AxeFx II, these sounds almost proved to be useful for some live shows and production recordings for commericals.
But not quite... (still fun though) :)

Acoustic Guitar FX with Fractal Audio's AxeFX 2 (Part 2)

Cooking UP Electric Guitar Sounds for Live Performance
With the trusty Charvel Model #4 and Fractal Audio's AxeFx II, getting some sounds into place over some sequenced Heavyocity Damage percussion for live shows. :)

Pickett - "Honky Tonk Levee" Music Video (Zep/Stones Combo)
An animated mashup of two classics which--amazingly enough--was the soundtrack of a dream I had years ago. Using the music of Led Zeppelin's 'When the Levee Breaks' and Rolling Stones' 'Honky Tonk Women', this heavy, classic rock cut is built to destroy...
Pickett - Crazy Acoustic Guitar FX with Fractal Audio's AxeFx II
Using a range of effects that get played on acoustic guitar during live shows, this showcases a few of the more outside sounds you can get by running an acoustic guitar through a Fractal Audio unit.

Pickett - Frank Zappa, Xenochrony + 'Decaying Orbit Blues'
Using a variation on Zappa's 'xenochrony' concept (where elements of one composition are taken and used in an entirely different composition), this track ended up on the 'Spaceport Cantina' album and got played live fairly regularly (while we were still playing live gigs). :)

1986 Charvel Model #4 Electric Guitar
I have used this model Charvel for over 30 years, and this particular guitar has been on over 600 live gigs and dozens and dozens of recordings. They're starting to be a bit harder to find, but I can't recommend trying one highly enough...

"There's Something Crawling on the Back Door Mom" Music Video
From the 'Spaceport Cantina' album, this sci-fi reggae-rock piece first got demo'd in 1988 on a little cassette four-track. Years later, it seemed like a good fit for the SC album, and got a total recording job and this little video.

Correllian Smugglers music video
From the 'Spaceport Cantina' album, this track was originally made to be theme music for a non-domestic TV pilot that never came together.
It felt like a Han Solo thing to me. :)

Christmas All Around the World
