Kelly Cooper, AZCD4, How to Fix VA Wait-Times?
"So, one of the things that I find in government work is that there's not a lot of encouragement to being successful. It's just “here you go,” and you have these arbitrary goals, and there's no real encouragement to meet or exceed those goals. And if you do meet or exceed those goals, there is no benefit to that. I think what I've seen in business a lot is people that manage a profit and loss statement. And so in the corporate world, sometimes you get a budget and that budget will include “meeting this expectation”. And if you spend all that money, then you get all that money the next year, and it feels a lot like — without concern or care for the actual people we’re serving — we're really just functioning on a budget and trying to meet those things.
"I think what we can do is get into more of a success-base or a merit-based system of rewards that says, “We have to see certain accomplishments within the VA system. We have to see certain measures that are proven out or you're not qualified to be in that job.” And I'm sure that that's how we brought it down the last time. And I'm fairly distant from that because I spent most of my time in business, but that's why we're putting together that Veterans Coalition of people that really want to help me to see and understand and push some of the best things forward that we can."

Kelly Cooper, AZCD4, Caring for our Veterans
"And so we push forward, making sure that we are carrying forward the best interest of all the people in this nation, specifically veterans tonight because, without them, where are we really? Without our veterans that were willing to write that blank check — and some of them had that check cashed against them — we aren't where we are as a nation today. And it's important I think that all of us recognize that. I don't really want to be so somber about it, but it really is. many people have lost that connection, lost that understanding of that sacrifice. I remember sleeping on the side of a mountain in Okinawa, I remember being in places where nobody cared except my brothers and sisters — and for me, an infantry Marine, it was only brothers around me — but those are the only people that cared, and I think that we need to make sure that we repay that as a society and as a nation."

Kelly Cooper, AZCD4, God Bless Arizona
"You have a viable, winning campaign and candidate that will represent your needs come January this year.
So, with that, I almost always close with two things. One, time is the most valuable resource that you have, I appreciate all of you spending a little bit of your time with me today. So thank you.
Two, Semper Fi. It's Always Faithful. It's a saying in the Marine Corps. Any veterans here today? Thank you. Ooh rah!
And God bless you. God bless Arizona. God bless Arizona's District 4 and 5, where we currently stand today, and all of you, and even the people that are working against us. God bless them too because they are still our brothers and sisters and we still want them in this nation. We just want them to work with us, not against us."

Kelly Cooper, AZCD4: Gas shouldn't be so expensive
"So, we are going to do those three things first and foremost to make sure that your wallets aren't being bled every single day, that, when I leave here, because my tank's on E, that, in 6 to 8 months, it won't cost $170 to fill up my truck, right? It shouldn't' cost that much."

Kelly Cooper, AZCD4, Energy Independence
So, I am going to fight for making sure that, immediately, we go back to energy independence. We're going to bring down gas prices. Over the last two years, Joe Biden has pumped six to seven trillion dollars into the economy. We all understand — on a supply-side, limited economy — that pumping money in like that is just driving costs through the roof and is devaluing your dollar. We've seen it happen over generations. We're going to go in, and we're going to use the budget and budgetary measures to pull all the excess spending out of the economy to make sure that upward pressure is reduced to as much as we can. I can't promise you that we're going to take all of the inflation away, but I can promise you that I will work as hard as I humanly can to make sure that as much of that is taken away and it can be as painless, or as close to painless, as humanly possible.

Kelly Cooper, AZCD4 - "A guy just like you"
Kelly Cooper: "Somebody that has spent their whole life in this district, working hard from the ground up, cleaning toilets and mopping bathrooms – probably not much different than most of you. You work very hard. You want to have somebody that's going to represent your views and you want someone who's honest and transparent in the way that they do things. That's not rocket science, but somehow, today, common sense in politics is uncommon."
