MANIFIESTO. Victor Jara's last song. "I don't sing for empty fame. My guitar sings to build a ladder to the very stars. There where everything ends, there where all things have their start, song that has shown itself valiant, that song will always give birth to new song."

ME FOR YOU, AND YOU FOR ME. AND THE UNION FOR US ALL!
Starbucks union organizers are fighting for dignified conditions for 'Third World' coffee pickers too. Here in Nicaragua, source of some of the world's finest coffees, but where, as the song says, a worker's daily pay 'will hardly pay for one Starbucks Mocha Java!' Lenin Triana and his merry band take this version of Woody's 'Union Maid' to the next - global - level. Support the union movement here: https://sbworkersunited.org

'POLITICAL PRISONERS'? THE BIG LIE.
Original photos of the damage caused by 'peaceful protestors' during Nicaragua's upsurge of Contra-style mayhem in 2018. Plus 'selfie' videos posted by those same law-abiding people torturing and murdering police.

Nothing can replace the poetry of Víctor's original Spanish, of course. But ever since I stayed with Joan Jara in their little house in Santiago, and she lent me Víctor's own guitar to play, his best-loved songs have somehow flowered within me into these singing English versions. A great mystery and an enormous privilege.

Giving the lie to Nicaragua's so-called 'political prisoners', seeking power to return Nicaraguans to U.S. servitude to prop up a 'developed' way of life that's killing the planet, a first short clip from "We're Trying to Crush the World's Happiest Country" by Lee Camp of Most Censored News. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jkaP5i8FWY

Written after working with being-made-poor coffee pickers here in Nicaragua and finding myself in NYC, surrounded by Starbuckses filled with people paying a Nicaraguan picker's daily wage for a single cup. Coffee Justice NOW!

EL HOMBRE ES UN CREADOR - THE WORKER IS NO FOOL
Bilingual version of Víctor Jara's celebration of working people. Himself a campesino by birth, Víctor was tortured and murdered during the Kissinger/Nixon/Pinochet coup in Chile (September 11th 1973: 9/11 One!) By Russian roulette and machinegun fire. For singing. His passion and courage, coupled with the sheer beauty of many of his songs, inspire generations to this day. !Que viva Víctor Jara!

They paid for murderous riots in Nicaragua, using U.S. funds. No heroes here!
