Giant Predaceous Diving Beetle attacks fish
This natural behavior of Predaceous diving beetles in the nature of which I was able to make the video at home. Fierce predators, these beetles do not hesitate to attack prey larger then themselves, including small fish, tadpoles and frogs. Predaceous diving beetle, (family Dytiscidae), also called diving beetle, or true water beetle, any of more than 4,000 species of carnivorous, aquatic beetles (insect order Coleoptera) that prey on organisms ranging from other insects to fish larger than themselves. This beetles fly very well outside of
water and are attracted to lights at night. They are most active at night and can be seen moving from
one water source to another (puddles, pools, ponds, flooded roads, etc.). Walking on pool furniture
and patio sets is not unusual for the adventurous beetle.

Adorable slow motion of cat cleaning itself
Cats clean themselves
When it comes to personal hygiene, cats are the epitome of cleanliness. They are naturally equipped with the implements to groom themselves: a barbed tongue with which to lick, forepaws they moisten with saliva and use as a surrogate washcloth, and teeth to dig out tougher debris.

The cat is very funny playing with the mouse
Once our cat caught a mouse, but did not eat it. He just played with her. Watching this was very funny. When the cat got tired of playing, we released the mouse into the street. I’m sure she remembered this meeting for a long time :)

Praying Mantis is hunting right on my arm.
Praying mantis feeds exclusively on live prey and behaves among peaceful six-legs insects, like a tiger devouring living beings. However, in his appearance, except for the deadly hunting tools, there is nothing to inspire concern. He doesn’t even have a lack of elegance, thanks to his thin waist, elegant delicate green color and long wings. He does not have huge jaws opening like scissors; on the contrary, his head ends with a sharp beak, as it were. Thanks to his movable neck, he can turn his head, turn it to the right and left, lower and raise it. Mantis is the only insect that can direct its gaze and look around, it has almost a physiognomy.

Praying mantis before laying eggs
The female lays between 10 and 400 eggs, depending on the species. Eggs are typically deposited in a froth mass-produced by glands in the abdomen. This froth hardens, creating a protective capsule, which together with the egg mass is called an ootheca. Depending on the species, the ootheca can be attached to a flat surface, wrapped around a plant, or even deposited in the ground. Despite the versatility and durability of the eggs, they are often preyed on, especially by several species of parasitoid wasps. In a few species, mostly ground and bark mantises in the family Tarachodidae, the mother guards the eggs.

Rowan (sorbus) grows right on a birch
Once, while walking through the forest, I saw an unusual picture: a small mountain ash was growing right on the birch, and there were already fruits on the mountain ash. I wonder how long the mountain ash can grow this way.

1970's Inkwell
A special kind of inkwell is a non-spill ink bottle, which was a glass cylindrical cup, the upper part of which had the shape of an overturned cone with a small hole for a pen. Thanks to a special design that prevents ink from flowing out when tilting or turning over, the non-spill ink bottle allows carrying ready-to-use ink with you, which was very important before the invention of piston (refillable ink) and ballpoint pens.

WW2 Wehrmacht infantry helmet
Stalhelm (him. Stahlhelm, steel helmet) - an infantry helmet, which under this name is associated primarily with the armed forces of Germany from 1916 to 1945. Replacing during the First World War, Pickelhaube, later stalhelm became one of the most recognizable attributes of the soldiers of the Wehrmacht.
The helmet presented in the video, presumably from the Second World War, was found on the territory of the former USSR.
After the Second World War, people did everything from these helmets: night vases, pots, children's toilets, and even a colander could do.

Many many european chafers (June bugs) ..
Summer is come - time to June bugs. I was convinced of this when walking, I noticed under the lamp a lot of living and non-living european chafers. I was amazed how many of them gathered there.
The European chafer is a beetle of the Scarabaeidae family. Formerly found only in continental Europe, this invasive species is now found at temperate latitudes in North America, where they are commonly called June bugs. The large, white grubs of A. majale feed on the roots of most cool-latitude grasses, both wild and cultivated. This has made the European chafer an enemy of lawns.

Praying Mantis vs Man
The mantis will attack anything that moves. The size in this case does not matter. I learned this from my own experience when I was shooting a praying mantis, but he suddenly attacked me and ... began to eat my finger. It felt like it didn't hurt, it was just ticklish. But if I gave him more time - I am sure that the sensations would not be the most pleasant.
