A special kind of inkwell is a non-spill ink bottle, which was a glass cylindrical cup, the upper part of which had the shape of an overturned cone with a small hole for a pen. Thanks to a special design that prevents ink from flowing out when tilting or turning over, the non-spill ink bottle allows carrying ready-to-use ink with you, which was very important before the invention of piston (refillable ink) and ballpoint pens.
