Jumping Jenny By Anthony Berkeley
Anthony Berkeley was a journalist, novelist, and founding member of the Detection Club - whose members included Agatha Christie and Dorothy L. Sayers - and was one of crime fiction's greatest innovators, developing the idea of the psychological crime novel in the 1920s and 30s. One of Berkeley’s recurring and most-beloved characters was Roger Sheringham, a novelist and amateur detective.
In Jumping Jenny, written in 1933, Roger attends a party with the questionable theme 'famous murderers and their victims', only to discover that one difficult guest has been deliberately killed on one of the party's props. When Roger suspects one of his close friends may be involved, he decides to meddle in the evidence - but is he putting his own life at risk with this mischievous intervention?

A Kind of Alaska by Harold Pinter
Harold Pinter was born in London in 1930. His career as a playwright began with a production of The Room in 1957. His second play, The Birthday Party, closed after eight performances but was enthusiastically reviewed by critics. His early works were described by critics as "comedies of menace". Later plays such as No Man's Land (1975) and Betrayal (1978) became known as "memory plays".
His writing career spanned over 50 years and he produced 29 original stage plays, 27 screenplays, many dramatic sketches, radio and TV plays, poetry, one novel, short fiction, essays, speeches, and letters. He appeared as an actor in productions of his own work on radio and film, and directed nearly 50 productions for stage, theatre and screen.
Despite frail health after being diagnosed with oesophageal cancer in December 2001, Pinter continued to act on stage and screen. In 2005 he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature and, in the same year, the Wilfred Owen Award for Poetry and the Franz Kafka Award (Prague). Pinter’s last performance was in October 2006, in the title role of Samuel Beckett's one-act monologue Krapp's Last Tape, for the 50th anniversary season of the Royal Court Theatre. In 2006 he was awarded the Europe Theatre Prize and, in 2007, the highest French honour, the Légion d'Honneur. He died in December 2008.
Presented here is a selection of Pinter’s best works, broadcast by BBC Radio across 6 decades.

Pilgrim Series 2 by Sebastian Baczkiewicz
Paul Hilton stars as Pilgrim in the award-winning BBC Radio supernatural drama by Sebastian Baczkiewicz.
In 1185 William Palmer was making a pilgrimage to Canterbury. Unbeknown to him, his fellow pilgrim was the King of the Grey Folk. When William claimed that the church would eradicate belief in the Faerie world, he was cursed by the Faerie King: condemned to live forever and walk for eternity between the worlds of magic and of men.
Palmer, now known as Pilgrim, continues on his mission to this day, to preserve the uneasy balance between the two worlds and protect mankind from an enemy they resist believing in. His quests include retrieving a stolen dragons egg, aiding Joseph of Arimathea from the clutches of psychopathic angels, searching for the Radiant Boy - a sinister harbinger of impending death; acquiring copper, silver and gold to rescue a group of people trapped in a mine by a malevolent spirit; and tracking down and punishing a former friend who has betrayed him.
After so many centuries, will his curse ever be lifted and his wanderings finally come to an end?
Starring Paul Hilton as the immortal, reluctant and un-thanked hero, this award-winning series weaves together ancient myths, magic and contemporary realism to create a dark, thrilling and enchanting fantasy epic. Broadcast to high acclaim on BBC Radio across nine series from 2008 to 2020.

On Mardie Fen Series 6 by Nick Warburton

Trevor Peacock stars as inspired chef Warwick Hedges in this comedy drama set in an idiosyncratic restaurant in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Warwick’s son, Jack, works alongside his father, which makes him permanently anxious. Listening to the Dead: Enoch's Machine By Katie Hims
Listening to the Dead
A series of five dramas by Katie Hims.
After developing the means to make long distance radio transmissions, Marconi devoted much of the rest of his life to listening out for the voices of the dead. If radio can conjure a voice disembodied in space, he expected, as have legions of people since, that radio can capture the voices of those disembodied in other dimensions - in time, in ethereal planes. As technology becomes more sensitive, more diverse, more obscure, there are pioneers always ready to harness the new to the service of this age old fascination.
This is the story of five generations of a family whose members can and can't hear the dead. It's an enterprise to explore the myriad ties, stories and quirks that bind families through the generations, across the spectrum of meanings of 'listening to the dead'. Between allowing the echoes of a beloved's voice to live on, and the notion that the dead can engage in communicating new information, are vast grey areas of misinformation that beguile the bereaved and thrill the imagination.
Enoch's Machine
Enoch Cartwright, Victorian gentleman scientist, invests everything in the development of a machine to record the voice of his dead daughter, Emily, unaware that his living daughter Clara talks to her sister every night.
Clara ...... Eva Sayer
Enoch ...... Michael Bertenshaw
Emily ...... Georgie Fuller
