Avocado pit to plant.
An avocado pit, base dipped in water after about 4 weeks there’s a sprout from the root. Then it continues to grow in length. In 8 weeks the plant starts growing the plant above. Plant is ready to be transplanted into soil once it grows steady and strong.

Hydroponics or Aeroponics Peppers? Peppers planted in soil with the roots in water.
This project is to see how this works. Plain distilled water with no added solutions put in a vase, Not aerated but water is changed every 10 days to avoid algae growth. Pebbles are in the vase to separate the vase from the pot with soil, from direct contact with the water.

Balcony potatoes in a bucket.
Planting potatoes in a bucket can give a successful harvest yield just like those planted direct in soil on the ground. This is a trial run that is looking so good so far. The plant started as potatoes kept in the dark that had grown ‚eyes‘, after they grew small shoots, these were later planted in soil. The end result shall be an interesting reveal.

Growing Mango plant in a glass tube.
This process may seem like an uphill task but it actually is the opposite! Start a Mango seed wrapped in soft damp tissue and place on its flat side at the bottom of the tube. Seal the tube at the top with a plastic and a rubber band. This gives the prospective plant the atmosphere of the tropics, its original habitat. In 2-3 days a pink root shoots out! In a few weeks the soft delicate plant finds its way out of the same seed. The glass tube steams up from time to time. Place on a windowsill or close to a lot of natural light but not necessarily direct sunlight.

Cactus! An oasis in the desert.
In this botanical garden, I found a cacti patch; this spiny ‚succulents‘ are originally native to desert regions of the world. The Sahara borders many African countries and it is the world’s largest desert. Other deserts are thar, Namib, Patagonian, Great Basin, Danakil and more including the rain forests. These are home to these weird looking plants that adapt to arid and hot conditions. Their roots are not too deep into the soil so that they can quickly soak in and store rainwater for survival during a drought. Most have edible fruits and some of them have flesh that can be eaten if properly prepared but contrary to the myth out there, there are a large number of cacti that are unpleasant and even poisonous to humans when ingested. They are definitely not emergency store houses of water for the thirsty and dehydrated stranded Traveller in the desert!

Squirrels everywhere!
Wandering around the park and I stumbled upon their little corner! There they were scuttling here and there, grabbing a nut or two. They eat and then bury some to save for winter time! These little creatures so agile and wise. I just stood there marvelled and simply enjoying their activities.

Parks with a purpose
When city planners include parks in city layout, it is a good thing. A park isn‘t just an empty expanse of land with swings, slides, see-saw and other types of regular design that the people are used to. The beauty, the splendour and well groomed surrounding all bind together into a giant stress-Ball. More and more parks are becoming true recreational centres for everyone to come to and relax, rejuvenate and even detox bad vibes from the psyche.
