Doomsday Prophecies Are Getting True: Days are getting shorter as the Earth spins faster
Earth's rotation speed has markedly increased, enough that it shortened a day in June this year.
June 29 was 1.59 milliseconds shorter than the average day, which is 86,400 seconds. The trend could continue, according to scientists.
Scientist Leonid Zotov of Lomonosov Moscow State University recently published a study on the rotation of the Earth. Zotov speculates that the Earth's tides could be causing the fluctuation of the planet's rotation.

China says military drills surrounding Taiwan underway
China says military exercises by its navy, air force, and other departments are underway in six zones surrounding Taiwan.
The drills were prompted by a visit to the island by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) this week and are intended to advertise China's threat to attack the self-governing island republic in response to moves to solidify its de facto independence from Chinese rule with support from the United States, a key ally.
China's Xinhua News Agency said the exercises were joint operations focused on "blockade, sea target assault, strike on ground targets, and airspace control." Taiwan has put its military on alert and staged civil defense drills while the U.S. has numerous naval assets in the area.

American Oversight filed a public records request for the communications of former acting Defense Secretary Chris Miller and former Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy in the days after the attack on the Capitol.

CNN’s Zakaria calls slammed Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito
CNN host Fareed Zakaria on Sunday slammed Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito for what he called a “disgusting” and “scandalous” speech last week criticizing foreign leaders who disagreed with his ruling on Roe V. Wade.
Zakaria told Jim Acosta on CNN that Supreme Court justices are supposed to, at the very least, conduct themselves in a way that is above politics, given they are unelected members with life tenure who can decide crucial decisions shaping the lives of millions of Americans.

DOJ Says Militia Group Cannot Blame Donald Trump for Entering Capitol on January 6
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is arguing the founder and members of the Oath Keepers militia group who entered the U.S. Capitol on January 6 cannot blame former President Donald Trump for their actions.
Justice Department lawyers argued Trump lacked the authority to authorize an attack on the Capitol, which should prevent Oath Keepers’ lawyers from blaming the former President.

Trump mocks Biden, claims he has dementia in wild post
Former President Donald Trump accused President Joe Biden of having dementia rather than a COVID-19 rebound infection in a backhanded "get well" message on his Truth Social platform that spurred a wild rant Sunday.
The former president began by trolling his successor on the social media site over his re-diagnosis. The sarcastic opener led Trump down a rabbit hole, joking that Biden was "thinking of moving, part time, to one of those beautiful Wisconsin Nursing Homes" before rehashing his grievances with the 2020 election and reiterating his debunked accusations of widespread fraud.

Recession or no recession; Wikipedia witnesses unprecedented “edit wars”
An edit war broke out on Wikipedia this week over the definition of “recession,” as the Biden administration and the corporate media take the unprecedented step of denying the U.S. is in recession even after two consecutive quarters of negative growth. More than 70 edits to the page about recessions were made before the site locked the entry preventing further changes. The edits successfully de-emphasize the broad consensus definition of recession — two consecutive quarters of negative GDP growth — instead parroting the Biden Administration’s talking points.

Trump apologized to Cruz for 2016 election insults, book reveals
Former President Donald Trump apologized to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) for insulting his wife and father during the 2016 GOP presidential primaries, according to a new book by former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort.
Trump apologized to Cruz and his family in person, an unusual act for the former president who has a reputation for refusing to apologize, Manafort said. Trump had insinuated that Cruz's wife Heidi Cruz was ugly, attached Cruz's father to the assassination of former President John F. Kennedy, and questioned whether Cruz could be the next president if he was born in Canada.
