Climate Change: The Water Paradigm
In this video, we explore why maintaining a healthy water cycle may be much more important for the health of the climate than people realize. In case you are wondering, I'm not suggesting that the greenhouse effect due to CO2 or methane is insignificant. But I do think that the importance of the water cycle has been grossly under-emphasized, and should occupy a more central position in environmental discourse.

An integrated One Health approach in the management of landscapes can help mitigate or prevent disruption of these inter-related environments.

Sustainable wildlife management in the Democratic Republic of the Congo
The Ituri forest in northeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo is rich in wildlife and important mineral resources. The quest for wealth and food attracts miners, poachers and armed militias to the Okapi Wildlife Reserve.
Find out how the Sustainable Wildlife Management (SWM) Programme is trying to reduce pressures on the Reserve, improve food security and achieve sustainable levels of hunting in the region.
In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the SWM Programme is being coordinated by the Wildlife Conservation Society. The SWM Programme is an Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States initiative, funded by the European Union with co-funding from the French Facility for Global Environment and the French Development Agency.

Sustainable wildlife management in the Rupununi, Guyana
Fish and wildlife are an integral part of the indigenous culture and diet in the Rupununi region of Guyana, which borders Brazil and Venezuela. However, threats to the Rupununi’s rich biodiversity are increasing as the area becomes more accessible and new economic activities take off.
The Sustainable Wildlife Management (SWM) Programme has been established to address these challenges and improve the conservation and sustainable use of wildlife. In the Rupununi, the SWM Programme is being implemented by the Guyana Wildlife Conservation and Management Commission in coordination with CIFOR. Guyana is one of twelve African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries participating in the initiative. The SWM Programme is co-funded by the European Union and the French Facility for Global Environment.

Wildlife Insights: Saving Biodiversity with Tech and AI
Biodiversity is in crisis. A recent UN report predicts we may see as many as 1 million species extincts, many as soon as within the decade. Wildlife Insights is a new Google Cloud -based platform that applies AI to identify animals in images from camera traps placed in the wild. AI helps reduce the arduous manual work of sifting through millions of camera trap images and helps biologists spend more time actually working to study and protect wildlife.
