Galt's Landing With Sam, Pt. 4!
Part 4 of a series of videos featuring Sam, one of our awesome Food Forest installers.
Here we are spraying the compost tea that we brewed! Sam explains some of the benefits of using compost tea, and how coating the entire plant and surrounding soil is beneficial.
Here is a fantastic instance of "can't overdo it" like you can with conventional fertilizers and pesticides.

Turning Food Deserts into Abundance!
Changing the world, one food forest at a time!
Jim explains our concept of turning empty parks and wasted spaces into food forests. If we do this worldwide, we have the capability to transform so many food deserts into areas of abundance and joy!
The Garden of Eden is the next logical step. We're changing the world, feeding people, creating sustainable and Earth-centered spaces, and transforming lifestyles!

Quick Chicken Update!
We're going to keep bringing you updates on our little chicken friends!
They're almost too big for their current chicken tractor, so we've built a larger one and they'll be moving in soon! Soon we'll have fresh eggs every day!
We can't wait to get them moving around on the land to help fertilize the soil and eat up the bugs!

Within Reach!
What if you could reach out and touch a dozen different food-producing plants? With a food forest, it's easy!
Jim takes us through a "wild" food forest - this one wasn't designed to be neat and pretty - things were planted all over the place. Even in such a scattered way, look at how well they've done and how much you can successfully grow, even in close proximity!!

Gorgeous Example Food Forest!
Here's an overhead view of one of our Food Forests in the process of being installed! Isn't this an incredible design?! Jim briefly takes you through all of the different sections, or "layers."
Of course, this one is on a large plot of land, but you don't even need 1/10 of this space to also have a successful food forest. Incredible yield can come from just one single tree - think of a mature peach tree heavy with hundreds of fruits per year! That's so many peach cobblers (yum)!
Get in touch with us at foodforestabundance.com if you would like to be a part of the global solution and grow your own joy and freedom!

The Complete Customizability of a Food Forest!
One of the coolest parts of a food forest is the total and complete customizability!
You're not just deciding what food you want to grow for yourself - whatever you find yummiest and that grows best in your climate - you're also deciding HOW it grows. Want a wall covered in beans? You got it! A floor lush with sweet potato? That's an awesome idea!
You can combine a food forest with a medicinal garden, a sensory garden, an herb garden - you can make it 100% accessible for a wheelchair or walker - you can grow indoors, outdoors, and everywhere in-between (like a porch or a greenhouse)!
The answer to supply chain issues is at hand, folks!

The beautiful black-eyed Susan!
A flower often considered a weed, this plant has been used as medicine for centuries - it can help with everything from curing the common cold to getting rid of gut worms!
It is also a pollinator attractor!
Next time you see one of these beauties growing wild, think twice before pulling it!

Monday Jim Wisdom - Feeling Joy!
A little bit of Jim Wisdom for your Monday afternoon!
Instead of spending today searching for joy - searching for the "why" of life - take a few seconds to pause and listen to your body. Take a deep breath and feel your presence on the Earth.
Do you feel more relaxed? More joyful? More inspired? Then you're doing it right! If not, take a few more deep breaths and really feel yourself connecting to nature.
Take time to "ground" today!

It tastes good, it looks pretty - it does it all!
We are here at Galt's Landing making a super cool pathway that will be made entirely of edible plants. Stay tuned to see more of our featured plants and watch the pathway come to life!

Self-Propagation and Sugarcane!
What sorts of things does permaculture embrace? Well, in this video, Jim goes over just a couple of them - the cycle of life, self-propagation, and nature just being awesome as we sit back and watch!
The cycle of life - most growers today grow for one purpose and use monocultures, completely destroying a crop once its "usefulness" is done. Permaculture allows the cycle to complete itself, letting the plants to go to seed and essentially becoming their descendants' own fertilizer or mulch!
Self-propagation - by letting nature take over, in the instance of this sugarcane, a fallen branch becomes its own separate plant. It roots itself and reaches for the sun! Isn't that fantastic?! Not all plants will do this, but quite a few can!
Nature just being awesome - what else needs saying? :)

Compost Tea With Sam!
Part 3 of a series of videos featuring Sam, one of our awesome Food Forest installers.
Sam is helping us brew compost tea! The tea will serve multiple purposes, as Sam explains - it will benefit all parts of the plant, from the leaves to the roots.
This is something that you can DIY at home very easily! You don't need fancy materials - it's easy and you'll be able to provide precious nutrients and minerals to your plants naturally, without harmful chemicals.

Playtime at "The Farm!"
We're not the only ones excited about our new chickens! :)
It's so much fun watching the little ones interacting with the plants and animals. Jim's daughter LOVES to hang out with her tiny feathered friends.
It's a different kind of "playtime" when you're on a farm - and a great kind indeed!

DIY Irrigation Method!
Bet you've never seen an irrigation system like this one!
This is a unique wicking system - the water soaks into the carpet, the canvas bags absorb the water from the carpet and redistribute it to the soil within, wetting the roots and feeding the plants!
This is a cool way to "DIY" irrigation if you don't have a lot of space or fancy materials!

Pea Pods Galore!!
Ladies and gentlemen, we've got peas!!
We haven't touched this plant to prune, shape, or otherwise adjust it since it was planted as a seed. And look at the bountiful numbers of pea pods that it still has ready to go for us several months later!
Nature is amazing and you can harness the power of it in your own backyard with a food forest. Think of all of the delicious, fresh produce that you could have!

"Life Finds A Way!"
"Life finds a way!"
Plants are some of the most resilient beings on this planet. If you look up pictures of places that humans have abandoned, plants are one of the first things to come back in and start taking over.
Even in a pile of discards or "unwanted" things, plants will find a way to survive and thrive. They truly are amazing!

The Propagation Station!
Look at our "propagation station!"
Here are the starts of our greenhouses here at Galt's Landing - here is the start of abundance and freedom!
Almost all of the plants here are cuttings taken from plants that we already had in the ground. Each of these will take root and can potentially provide hundreds more cuttings in the future, leading to the potential of hundreds more people growing food for themselves!
Isn't that crazy?!
Food forests everywhere!

Carrot Greens!
These may not look like much now...but the good stuff is underground!
Carrots are one of the most popular vegetables eaten around the world, with the taproot being the most recognized part! If you are growing carrots to eat - don't skin them! Much like a potato, there are loads of nutrients in the skin that are lost when removing that outermost layer.
But did you know that the tops, or "greens," are edible too? They can be bitter in taste, but they are full of nutrients!

Sweet Potato!
Sweet potato vine is a fast-growing, nutrient-dense ground cover! We are planting it all over the place at Galt's Landing.
Most people don't know that sweet potatoes have edible leaves as well. When you pull your plant to harvest the tasty underground tuber, don't discard the leaves - you can cook them and make them an excellent second side dish!
They are also super easy to propagate - a simple cutting will almost always produce roots if correctly tended to!

Kids Can Get Involved Too!
Starting young!!
Do you know about the benefits of getting in the dirt and planting food from a young age?
The microbiome of the soil is astounding, and everything in nature works together to create an environment where life thrives. Connecting to that energy, or "grounding," has been shown to have amazing health benefits! It is a physical, mental, and spiritual connection that we should all cherish.
Take time today to "ground" - bring the kids along too! (Or maybe harvest a giant squash!)

Resist Tyranny By Growing Food!
Resist tyranny by growing food!
At the end of the day, everyone will always need food in order to survive. He who controls the food controls the people.
So what if you could own a piece of the power by growing your own food - thus controlling a part of your own destiny?
You don't need a lot of space, time, or money to do it. You'll be shocked how easy it is to take your own power back!

Newest Residents at Galt's Landing!
We are SO excited to introduce our newest residents at Galt's Landing!
Currently, our chicks are living in a portable coop - this way, we can regularly rotate them onto fresh land where they can help with pest prevention and also actively fertilize the soil! ;)
We would love to free-range them, but in a very rural area like we are currently, there are many predators around - it is not unusual to see a bald eagle circling above. When they get a little older, we will re-evaluate and plan to give them lots more space to run around!
We absolutely cannot wait to get fresh eggs to use in the kitchen!
