Self-Propagation and Sugarcane!
What sorts of things does permaculture embrace? Well, in this video, Jim goes over just a couple of them - the cycle of life, self-propagation, and nature just being awesome as we sit back and watch!
The cycle of life - most growers today grow for one purpose and use monocultures, completely destroying a crop once its "usefulness" is done. Permaculture allows the cycle to complete itself, letting the plants to go to seed and essentially becoming their descendants' own fertilizer or mulch!
Self-propagation - by letting nature take over, in the instance of this sugarcane, a fallen branch becomes its own separate plant. It roots itself and reaches for the sun! Isn't that fantastic?! Not all plants will do this, but quite a few can!
Nature just being awesome - what else needs saying? :)
