SpaceX Crew Dragon Returns from Space Station on Demo 1 Mission
On March 8, 2019, the SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft undocks from the International Space Station, after nearly 5 days aboard the orbiting laboratory during the company’s Demo-1 mission for NASA’s Commercial Crew Program and descends to re-enter the Earth’s atmosphere. Just over 5 hours later, the uncrewed spacecraft splashes down in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Florida and is recovered by SpaceX teams.

How Do We Communicate with Faraway Spacecraft
When scientists and engineers want to send commands to a spacecraft in deep space, they turn to the Deep Space Network, NASA’s international array of giant radio antennas used to communicate with spacecraft at the Moon and beyond. Operators at the Deep Space Network take commands, break them into digital bits, precisely aim these big antennas at the spacecraft, and send the commands to the spacecraft using radio waves.
The antennas of NASA’s Deep Space Network are the indispensable link to robotic explorers venturing beyond Earth. They provide the crucial connection for commanding our spacecraft and receiving their never-before-seen images and scientific information on Earth, propelling our understanding of the universe, our solar system and ultimately, our place within it.
Managed by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory for the Space Communications and Navigation (SCAN) Program, based at NASA Headquarters within the Space Operations Mission Directorate, the Deep Space Network is what enables missions to track, send commands to, and receive scientific data from faraway spacecraft.

Astronautas pierden un escudo en el espacio por accidente GoPro 8K

Hello Waa Sop community, I am Jona and now I bring you a very very, very incredible video, it is a fragment of the space walk (EVA #38) made in 2017 by NASA astronaut, Peggy Whitson and NASA astronaut, Shane Kimbrough outside the International Space Station. The interesting thing about this spacewalk is that Peggy Whitson accidentally dropped an anti-debris shield that turned into space debris (oh, the irony) all of this was documented by the GoPro action camera that Whitson carried.
Now, the interesting thing about this video is that I scaled this fragment at 8K resolution using neural networks with Artificial Intelligence 🤯
While the result is not perfect, there is a considerable improvement over the original, highly compressed 1080p version that can be downloaded from the NASA archives.
I hope this video blows your mind 😍 🌍

SWOT Earth Science Satellite Will Help Communities Plan for a Better Future
#spacex #space #b3d

A new Earth science mission, led by NASA and the French space agency Centre National d’Études Spatiales (CNES), will help communities plan for a better future by surveying the planet’s salt and freshwater bodies. The Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) mission will measure the height of water in lakes, rivers, reservoirs, and the oceans.
As climate change accelerates the water cycle, more communities around the world will be inundated with water while others won’t have enough. SWOT data will be used to improve flood forecasts and monitor drought conditions, providing essential information to water management agencies, civil engineers, universities, the U.S. Department of Defense, disaster preparedness agencies, and others who need to track water in their local areas. In this video, examples of how SWOT data will be used in these communities are shared by a National Weather Service representative in Oregon, an Alaska Department of Transportation engineer, researchers from the University of Oregon and University of North Carolina, a NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory scientist working with the Department of Defense, and a JPL scientist working with the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Agency.

Does Anything Orbit the Moon? We Asked a NASA Technologist
#nasa #nasaupdates #space #spaceexploration #spacex anything orbit the Moon? Yes. There are a handful of satellites currently orbiting our closest celestial neighbor. On Nov. 13, 2022, they will welcome CAPSTONE, a CubeSat designed to test a new and unique halo-shaped orbit that will offer stability for long-term missions like our upcoming lunar Gateway space station. NASA Small Satellites Engineer Ahn Nguyen tells us about it.
