Guy Bluford, First African American in Space: 40 Years of Inspiration
In 1983, NASA's Guy Bluford broke barriers and made history as the first African American astronaut in space. Hear from Bluford himself, see footage from his Space Shuttle missions, and celebrate the milestones that forever changed the landscape of space exploration.
Bluford's first mission was STS-8, which launched from Kennedy
Space Center, Florida, on Aug. 30, 1983. This was the third flight for the Challenger orbiter, and the first mission with a night launch and night landing. During the mission, the STS-8 crew deployed the Indian National Satellite (INSAT-1B), operated the Canadian-built RMS with the Payload Flight Test Article (PFTA), operated the Continuous Flow Electrophoresis System (CFES) with live cell samples, conducted medical measurements to understand biophysiological effects of spaceflight, and activated four "Getaway Special" canisters. STS-8 completed 98 orbits of the Earth in 145 hours before landing at Edwards Air Force Base, California, on Sept. 5, 1983.

NASA Parker Solar Probe - Journey To The Sun
On Aug. 11th 2018, NASA launched the Parker Solar Probe, which will be the first-ever mission to "touch" the Sun.
The probe, about the size of a small car, will travel directly into the
Sun's atmosphere, about 4 million miles from the surface.
The probe will slingshot around Venus, which will help it create a
tighter orbit around the Sun, it's first orbit around the sun will be at 15 million miles, it's 21st orbit in 2024 will put it at 4 million miles from the sun, and travelling at around 430,000 Kph. NASA's Parker Solar Probe will study the Sun to help us better
understand the corona, the solar wind and other solar activity that
might impact life on Earth.
Thanks for watching.

Highlights: First Images from the James Webb Space Telescope (Official NASA Video)
NASA revealed the first five full-color images and spectrographic data from the world's most powerful space telescope, the James Webb Space Telescope, a partnership with ESA (European Space Agency), and CSA (Canadian Space Agency). The world got its first look at the full capabilities of the mission at a live event streamed from the agency's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, on July 12, 2022.
The event showcased these targets: Carina Nebula: A landscape speckled with glittering stars and
cosmic cliffs - Stephan's Quintet: An enormous mosaic with a visual grouping of
five galaxies - Southern Ring Nebula: A nebula with rings of gas and dust for
thousands of years in all directions
-WASP 96-b: A distinct signature of water in the atmosphere of an exoplanet orbiting a distant Sun-like star
-SMACS 0723: The deepest and sharpest infrared image of the distant universe to date

Do Robots Help Humans in Space? We Asked a NASA Technologist
When it comes to space, humans and robots go way back. We rely heavily on our mechanical friends to perform tasks that are too dangerous, difficult, or out of reach for us humans. We're even working on a new generation of robots that will help us explore in advanced and novel ways.
Learn more about the CADRE-Cooperative Autonomous Distributed Robotic Exploration-project and how this new network of mini rovers could enable future self-guided robotic exploration of the Moon, Mars, and beyond. https://go.nasa.gov/3k5EuZx

UNSEEN Footage - Astronauts Falling on the Moon (NASA Apollo Space Missions)
As funny as these recordings of astronauts falling on the moon may seem, many were actually carried out under mission orders and were of valuable importance to NASA's research endeavors. During Apollo 15, astronauts were conducting experiments on metabolic rates across various types of lunar terrain, and during Apollo 16, the falls took place while testing differences in locomotion on the moon and Earth. Adding to unexpected seriousness of the footage, one of these falls threatened the life of astronaut Charles Duke, who came close to cracking his suit and exposing himself to the vacuum of space...

Moon - Close Up View - Real Sound. HD
Our Universe is not silent.. Although space is a vacuum, that does not mean there is no sound in it.
Yes, space is a vacuum - so it generally doesn't carry sound waves
like air does here on Earth. However, some sounds do exist in outer space, we just can't hear them. Various probes that zoom through the space are capable of capturing radio emissions from astronomical objects. NASA's scientist have designed special instrument known as 'astronomical interferometer' which can record these electromagnetic vibrations, and transfer them into sounds
within range of human hearing (20-20,000 Hz).
Interesting Facts about our Moon:
The Moon's Latin name is Luna.
The Moon formed approx. 4.5 billion years ago. Moon is the fifth-largest natural satellite in the Solar System.
The moon orbits the Earth at an average speed of 3,700 kilometers an hour.
The Moon is in synchronous rotation with Earth - it is always shows
Earth the same side.
The Moon's surface is dark.
The dark side of the Moon cools to about -169 degrees Celsius. During the lunar day that lasts about a month Moon's surface bakes
in the sun at up to 117 degrees Celsius.
The Moon is drifting away from the Earth approx. 3.8 cm every year The Moon has quakes called the Moonquakes.
.
There is water on the Moon.
The Soviet Union's Luna program featured the first successful landing of an unmanned spacecraft on the surface of the Moon int
1966. The USA's NASA Apollo 11 mission in 1969 was the first manned
Moon landing.
The first person to set foot on the Moon was Neil Armstrong. A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth is between the Sun and the Moon.
The Moons is actually more of an oval shape. The Moon is international property.
Apollo 17 astronaut Harrison Schmitt was allergic to the Moon. Astronauts have brought 842 pounds of moon material back to
Earth. The dark spots on the moon are called maria.
