#12- Time for Honey Harvest! Possible Giveaway?
In this video of Narrow Path Life, honey harvest has once again come upon us. Seeing as we lost all of our hives this past year (left with only 2), we seemed to do quite well with getting our hive numbers built back up through trapping wild honey bees. This has been a proven method for growing our apiary and the best part... IT'S FREE!!!
Being that our traps were so successful, we were wondering if anyone would be interested in a build video this coming spring where we can discuss the way that we get these boxes constructed. A "DIY" if you will. After building the trap, we would be willing to put some old brood comb (necessary for successful trapping) in it and give it away based on a random drawing from our subscribers who show interest. If this sounds like it would be interesting, please be sure to leave a COMMENT and SUBSCRIBE. We will announce the potential giveaway in a video closer to trapping season.
(Also... Is this honey bee ASMR?)

#11- A day to take the dog (Mally) to the river!
In this video of Narrow Path Life, we decide to take a break from the summertime heat and the frustrations of the world to take Mally to swim in the river. As busy as we always seem to be in trying to complete project after project in order to build a place for the future, we often forget to enjoy the simple things. Mally (our Malinois mix) enjoys the water like no dog I have ever seen and it makes us smile to see her do so. Admittedly, this video is more of just memories for us rather than everyone else.
We hope you enjoy!
If there are any ways in which you think we could improve, please be sure to let us know in the comment section.

#10- DIY heavy duty wagon build- Part 3- FINISHED!!!
In this video of Narrow Path Life, we stay up all night for two nights to FINALLY get this project done because it is just too hot to get it done during the day.
We hope you like this video. With this project done (in the middle of a heat wave), we are excited to move on! Be sure to subscribe as we have a lot of updates and interesting projects coming soon!
Thank you for watching. If you have any ideas on how we can improve, please be sure to let us know in the comments!

#9- DIY heavy duty wagon build- Part 2- getting most of the fabrication finished!
In this video of Narrow Path Life, we get to work with most of the remaining fabrication. As we are in the middle of spring, work is difficult having to work between rain storms. It proves difficult to MIG weld in the wind as the shielding gas continues to get blown away. All in all, we are excited to have gotten this far in the build as we are ready to move on to other projects.
Be sure to subscribe and leave comments on where we can improve with these constant projects.

#8- How to transfer a wild honey bee swarm out of a swarm trap.
In this video of Narrow Path Life, we have a bit of a shorter video that is a little more to the point. In just three days after setting one of our swarm traps, WE CAUGHT A SWARM! We did really well at this location last year as well. In this video, we show you how we transfer a newly caught honey bee swarm from a swarm trap over to hive boxes.
Be sure to watch our previous video on how we set these swarm traps as we seem to be rather successful with traps.
As we are new to bee keeping, we ask that all of you more experienced bee keepers give us advice in the comments.
Thank you all for watching.

#7- How to know when to set swarm traps - Bee disaster!!!
In this video of Narrow Path Life, we have a bee disaster! Of the eleven hives we went into winter with, only three survived. We are confident this is user error, but we discuss how we feel we messed this one up and our plan to fix the issue. We are new to bee keeping so we hope our errors will help others out.
Also, we discuss how we know when to start setting honey bee swarm traps based on the bloom of local flowers. This gives us a reliable way to judge honey bee swarm season in our area. We also discuss how we set up our swarm traps. We hope this gives everyone a good idea on how to catch wild honey bees.
As we are a new channel and we are learning as we go, please be sure to leave us comments regarding any advice you would give us. Also, let us know which shots you like or don't like.

#6- DIY heavy duty wagon build- Part 1- 700 Mile road trip... for nothing!!!
In this video of Narrow Path Life, we finally get our shipment of steel in to get to work building our DIY heavy duty wagon bed. As with everything, we tend to over-build everything just to stay on the safe side. This will be part one of this project as rural life, where we have to do most everything ourselves, is often busy.
As we have been searching for quite a long while for more equipment in order to set up our homestead - ish lifestyle, we are moving our sights to getting a bull dozer. This will be essential in moving forward with our retaining wall project. The old saying goes that "a picture paints one thousand words". While this may be true, perhaps one thousand words just isn't enough to describe what kind of shape a piece of equipment is in as we discover that we just wasted gas to go over 700 miles to look at a piece of equipment that turned out to be at the end of it's life. At least the full time-lapse of the journey turned out pretty cool. Though we have lost this battle, we are determined to win the war!
Thank you for taking the time to watch our video. If you see anything that you are interested in, please leave a comment and we will do our best to discuss it in an upcoming video. If anyone has any ideas for better ways of doing things, please leave a comment. If there are any particular shots that you either like/don't like, we are a new channel so that information helps out a whole lot!

#5- How to (and not to) split a boulder.
In this video of Narrow Path Life, while awaiting shipments of steel to fabricate the wagon bed for the wagon axles we picked up in our last video, we get to work figuring out how to get some of these large boulders to a more workable size. The hope is that we could find a faster way to get them split, but quickly learn that the war with a boulder will be much more difficult. Through our trial and error, we hope we can provide a detailed understanding on how to get a boulder split.
For all the masons out there, please leave us some comments on whether or not there is a more efficient way to get this job done.
As we are a new channel, be sure to let us know if there are any shots you like or dislike.

#4- Husband and wife 1500 mile road trip in TWO DAYS for a red wagon?!
In this video of Narrow Path Life, Kara and I take a 1500 mile road trip to pick up a heavy duty wagon. As with everything, issues always arise. Hopefully with this heavy duty wagon, construction can continue on the retaining wall as we need to start moving boulders around with the backhoe and tractor. Be sure to check back with us over the next few videos as we will have to fabricate a custom bed for the wagon.
As we are a new channel and we are learning as we go, be sure to give us any recommendations with shots you like or dislike. Also be sure to give us any ideas about how you all might tackle these projects.
Thank you all for watching.

#3- Continuing work on clearing the tree line - Hiking with the dogs!
In this video on Narrow Path Life, we continue working to clear the tree line for the retaining wall. We come to the end of the easy work as the ground starts becoming extremely unlevel from here on out. Additionally, we go on our annual nature hike around the property with the dogs. This gives them a opportunity to enjoy themselves and it gives us an opportunity to keep an eye on things around the land.
I'm pretty happy with some of the shots I was able to get in this one so let me know what you all think in the comments.
Thank you all for watching.

#2- We have to build a retaining wall... DIY! - Nearly getting the backhoe stuck in the mud!
In this video on Narrow Path Life, we get to work clearing the way for the retaining wall which we are going to to be building DIY. We make a mess and as it rains over night, we nearly get the backhoe stuck in the mud. With the cold wet weather on the way, work gets difficult.
As we are a new channel, please be sure to comment about any shots you like/don't like. If there is any additional content you would like to see, be sure to let us know.

#1- Getting our honey bees ready for winter- A dog that loves a backhoe?!
In this video of Narrow Path Life, we work on getting our bees ready for cold winter weather and snow. We are new to keeping bees so if you have any recommendations for us, please leave a comment. We also have to build a retaining wall for our equipment barn in order to level the ground around it. We use our backhoe to do site preparation for the work ahead... and Mally LOVES the backhoe!
As we are a new channel, if you have any recommendations for content that you like/don't like, please be sure to let us know.
