Tonight to Fire Power: Last week 'they, the unnamed, tried something new on us. They wanted us to believe that only 199 people were watching us live last Wednesday. We do not know how they did it, but our total views on all platforms is now over 300,000. It is at the point where we are not guilty for what we have done or said but of what we might say or do. "Can God Be Censored?" That is the question that we're going to answer tonight. We know that sounds kind of crazy, but there's a lot of censorship going on, especially on social media platforms. The censorship on these platforms is critical and serves a purpose. Tonight we welcome Steve Brown of Resource Group Media and Pastor Alan DiDio of Encounter Ministries, two experts in the field that understand this probably better than anybody you're going to hear from.

"Faith Will Be Our Currency"
In Christian eschatology, the "end times" refer to a period preceding the second coming of Christ. It's believed that during this time, believers will face unprecedented trials and challenges, testing their faith like never before. This concept is based on various biblical passages and themes:
1. **Increased Persecution**: The Bible predicts that believers will face increased persecution and hardship. Scriptures like Matthew 24:9 speak of believers being handed over to be persecuted and killed, and Revelation 2:10 mentions imprisonment and trials for the faithful.
2. **Great Deception**: The end times are characterized by widespread deception. False prophets and messiahs will appear, deceiving even the elect if possible (Matthew 24:24). This environment of deception will test the discernment and steadfastness of believers.
3. **Moral Decay and Lawlessness**: A decline in moral standards and a rise in lawlessness are prophesied (2 Timothy 3:1-5). Believers must maintain their integrity and faith amidst a society drifting away from biblical values.
4. **Spiritual Warfare**: Ephesians 6:12 indicates a heightened spiritual battle against the forces of darkness. Believers will need to rely on their spiritual armor and faith in God to withstand these challenges.
5. **The Love of Many Growing Cold**: Due to increased wickedness, the love of many will grow cold (Matthew 24:12). Maintaining a heart of love, compassion, and faith in such an environment will be a significant test.
6. **Tribulation and Trials**: The Book of Revelation describes a period of tribulation, marked by natural disasters, wars, famines, and other catastrophes. These events will challenge believers to trust in God’s sovereignty and goodness.
7. **The Test of Faithfulness**: In Luke 18:8, Jesus asks, “When the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?” This suggests a testing of genuine faith and perseverance.
8. **The Call for Endurance**: Revelation 14:12 calls for the endurance of the saints, who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. This implies that maintaining faith and obedience will be challenging yet crucial.
Abraham, often referred to as the "Father of Faith," is renowned for his exemplary faith in the Bible. His life offers several profound examples suitable for a sermon on faith:
### 1. Leaving His Homeland (Genesis 12:1-4)
- **Call to Leave**: Abraham (then Abram) was called by God to leave his homeland, Haran, for a land that God would show him.
- **Faith in Action**: Despite not knowing the destination, Abraham obeyed immediately, demonstrating faith in God's promise and guidance.
### 2. Belief in God’s Promise of a Son (Genesis 15:1-6)
- **Promise of Descendants**: God promised Abraham, who was childless and advanced in age, that he would have descendants as numerous as the stars.
- **Unwavering Belief**: Abraham believed God's promise, and it was counted to him as righteousness. His faith did not waver despite his and Sarah's old age.
### 3. The Birth of Isaac (Genesis 21:1-7)
- **Fulfillment of Promise**: God's promise was fulfilled when Sarah bore Isaac. Abraham was 100 years old at that time.
- **Testament to Faith**: The birth of Isaac in their old age was a direct result of their faith in God's promise.
### 4. The Sacrifice of Isaac (Genesis 22:1-18)
- **Ultimate Test of Faith**: God tested Abraham by asking him to sacrifice Isaac, his long-awaited son.
- **Willingness to Obey**: Abraham's willingness to sacrifice Isaac demonstrated his absolute trust and obedience to God. He believed God could even raise the dead (Hebrews 11:17-19).
- **God’s Provision**: At the last moment, God provided a ram for the sacrifice, sparing Isaac. This event is a powerful example of faith and trust in God's provision.
### 5. Seeking a Wife for Isaac (Genesis 24)
- **Ensuring the Promise Continues**: Abraham ensured that Isaac did not marry a woman from Canaan but from his own relatives, trusting God's promise concerning his descendants.
- **Guided by Faith**: His servant, guided by prayer and faith, found Rebekah, aligning with God's plan.
### Sermon Points:
- **Faith in the Unknown**: Abraham's journey is a model of trusting God even when the path is unclear.
- **Faith Against Odds**: His belief in God's promise about Isaac, against all odds, highlights that faith often defies human logic.
- **Obedience in Faith**: Abraham's readiness to sacrifice Isaac shows that true faith is often tested and proven in obedience.
- **Legacy of Faith**: Abraham's life demonstrates that faith has a lasting impact, influencing generations.
Abraham's story teaches that faith involves trust in God's promises, obedience to His commands, and the belief that God will fulfill His word, even when circumstances seem impossible. His life is an enduring testimony to the power and significance of faith.
Here are ten scriptures from the New King James Version (NKJV) of the Bible that emphasize standing firm in faith and not backing down in the face of enemy attacks or discouragement:
1. **Ephesians 6:13** - "Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand."
2. **1 Corinthians 16:13** - "Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong."
3. **James 4:7** - "Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you."
4. **1 Peter 5:8-9** - "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith..."
5. **Isaiah 54:17** - "No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” says the Lord."
6. **2 Timothy 1:7** - "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."
7. **Joshua 1:9** - "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."
8. **Psalm 18:39** - "For You have armed me with strength for the battle; You have subdued under me those who rose up against me."
9. **Philippians 4:13** - "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
10. **Psalm 44:5** - "Through You we will push down our enemies; Through Your name we will trample those who rise up against us."
These scriptures collectively inspire believers to stand firm in their faith, resist fear and discouragement, and trust in the strength and support that God provides in the face of adversity.
Without faith, we can’t please God.

Worship is important to God for several key reasons:
1. **Acknowledgement of God's Sovereignty and Greatness**: Worship is an act of recognizing and honoring the sovereignty, greatness, and holiness of God. It's a way for humans to express awe and reverence for who God is. Through worship, believers acknowledge God's ultimate authority and worthiness of all praise and adoration.
2. **Fulfillment of God's Purpose for Humanity**: In various scriptures, it's suggested that one of the purposes for which humans were created is to worship God (Isaiah 43:7, 21). By worshiping, people fulfill part of their fundamental purpose and design.
3. **Building a Relationship with God**: Worship is a key component of a believer's relationship with God. It's a time of intimate communication and connection. Through worship, believers express their love, gratitude, and need for God, which fosters a deeper relationship with Him.
4. **Transformation and Renewal**: Worship has the power to transform the worshiper. In God's presence, people find renewal, strength, and perspective. It's often in moments of worship that individuals are reminded of God’s promises, faithfulness, and their identity in Him.
5. **Spiritual Warfare**: Worship can be a form of spiritual warfare. It shifts the focus from life's challenges to God's power. Biblical examples show worship leading to breakthroughs and victories (2 Chronicles 20:21-22).
6. **Community and Unity in the Body of Christ**: Corporate worship unites believers in a shared experience of God's presence. It builds community and strengthens the collective faith and identity of the Church.
7. **Reflecting God’s Glory Back to Him**: Worship is a way of reflecting God's glory back to Him. Just as creation declares His glory (Psalm 19:1), so does worship from His people. It's an expression of giving back to God from what He has given.
8. **Preparing for Eternity**: Worship is seen as a preparation for eternity. In heaven, worship is a continual activity (Revelation 4:8-11). Engaging in worship on earth is, in a sense, a preparation for and a foretaste of eternal life with God.
Here are ten key verses from the New King James Version (NKJV) of the Bible that emphasize the importance of praise and worship and the need for faith:
1. **Psalm 100:4** - "Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name."
2. **Hebrews 13:15** - "Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name."
3. **Psalm 95:6** - "Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker."
4. **John 4:24** - "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."
5. **Psalm 150:6** - "Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!"
6. **Psalm 22:3** - "But You are holy, Enthroned in the praises of Israel."
7. **Psalm 34:1** - "I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth."
8. **2 Chronicles 20:22** - "Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated."
9. **Psalm 147:1** - "Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God; For it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful."
10. **Ephesians 5:19-20** - "Speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ”
King David, known as a man after God's own heart (1 Samuel 13:14, Acts 13:22), is often celebrated as a great worshiper in the Bible. His life and writings, especially in the book of Psalms, reveal his deep devotion and heartfelt worship towards God.
### Early Life and Heart of Worship
- **Anointed as King**: David was anointed by the prophet Samuel at a young age (1 Samuel 16:1-13). Even before he became king, he was known for his skill with the harp and his love for God.
- **David and Goliath**: In his battle with Goliath, David's faith in God was evident. He saw the battle as the Lord's and worshiped God through his trust and declaration of faith (1 Samuel 17).
### Psalms: Expressions of Worship
- **Book of Psalms**: David wrote many of the Psalms, which are filled with expressions of praise, worship, and heartfelt prayers to God. They reveal his deep emotional connection with God, covering a wide range of human experiences and emotions.
- **Examples of Worship**: Psalms like 23 (“The Lord is my shepherd”) and 51 (a penitential psalm) show his reliance, trust, and worship of God in various life circumstances.
### Instances of Worship in David’s Life
- **Bringing the Ark to Jerusalem**: One of the most vivid examples of David’s worship is found in 2 Samuel 6. David brought the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem with great celebration. He danced before the Lord with all his might, wearing a linen ephod. This act showed his humility and willingness to worship God wholeheartedly, without concern for his kingly dignity.
- **Response to Personal Challenges**: David’s response to personal challenges and tragedies also reflected his worshiper's heart. For instance, when his child with Bathsheba was ill, David fasted and worshiped (2 Samuel 12:16-20).
- **Plans for the Temple**: Although David was not permitted to build the temple, his preparations and plans for it (1 Chronicles 22) demonstrate his desire to honor and worship God.
### Legacy as a Worshiper
- **Influence on Israelite Worship**: David established a new order of worship in Israel, organizing the Levites into groups of musicians and singers for the temple services (1 Chronicles 23:5; 25:1-7). This had a lasting impact on Israelite worship practices.
- **A Heart Like God’s**: Throughout his life, despite his flaws and failures, David consistently turned back to God with a repentant and worshipful heart, setting a model for heartfelt worship and reliance on God.
David's story illustrates that worship is not just about singing or music; it's a lifestyle of reverence, dependence, and love for God. His life is a testament to the importance of a personal, intimate relationship with God, expressed through worship.

First John 5:16 is one of the most difficult verses in the New Testament to interpret. “If anyone sees his brother commit a sin that does not lead to death, he should pray and God will give him life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying that he should pray about that.” Of all the interpretations out there, none seem to answer all the questions concerning this verse.
The best interpretation may be found by comparing this verse to what happened to Ananias and Sapphira inActs 5:1–10(see also1 Corinthians 11:30). The “sin unto death” is willful, continuous, unrepentant sin. God has called His children to holiness (1 Peter 1:16), and God corrects them when they sin. We are not “punished” for our sin in the sense of losing salvation or being eternally separated from God, yet we are disciplined. “The Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son” (Hebrews 12:6).
First John 5:16says there comes a point when God can no longer allow a believer to continue inunrepentantsin. When that point is reached, God may decide to take the life of the stubbornly sinful believer. The “death” is physical death. God at times purifies His church by removing those who deliberately disobey Him. The apostle John makes a distinction between the “sin that leads to death” and the “sin that does not lead to death.” Not all sin in the church is dealt with the same way because not all sin rises to the level of the “sin that leads to death.”
InActs 5:1–10and1 Corinthians 11:28–32, God dealt with intentional, calculated sin in the church by taking the physical life of the sinner. This is perhaps also what Paul meant by “the destruction of the flesh” in1 Corinthians 5:5.
John says that we should pray for Christians who are sinning, and that God will hear our prayers. However, there may come a time when God decides to cut short a believer’s life due to unrepentant sin. Prayers for such an unheeding person will not be effective.
God is good and just, and He will eventually make us “a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless” (Ephesians 5:27). To further that end, God chastens His children. May the Lord preserve us from the hard-heartedness that would cause us to commit the “sin unto death.”

"Coming to the End of Ourselves: Surrendering to God's Grace"
Introduction:
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, today, we gather to explore a profound spiritual journey - the journey of coming to the end of ourselves and surrendering to God's grace. This transformational experience is beautifully portrayed in the Scriptures, as we'll see through the ten verses I will share with you.
I. Recognizing Our Need for God:
1. Romans 3:23 (NKJV) - "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
- This verse reminds us that we all fall short and need God's grace to bridge the gap.
2. Romans 7:24-25 (NKJV) - "O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!"
- Paul's cry reveals the deep realization of his need for Christ's deliverance.
II. Surrendering Our Will to God:
3. Galatians 2:20 (NKJV) - "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me."
- Surrendering means allowing Christ to live in us.
4. Matthew 16:24 (NKJV) - "Then Jesus said to His disciples, 'If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.'"
- Denying self is a crucial step in coming to the end of ourselves.
III. Trusting God's Wisdom:
5. Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) - "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."
- Trusting God's wisdom over our own is essential.
6. 1 Corinthians 1:25 (NKJV) - "Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men."
- Recognizing our limitations and embracing God's wisdom is part of coming to the end of ourselves.
IV. Finding Strength in Weakness:
7. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (NKJV) - "And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
- We find true strength when we acknowledge our weakness and rely on God's grace.
V. Letting Go of Burdens:
8. Matthew 11:28 (NKJV) - "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
- Jesus invites us to come to Him and lay our burdens down.
9. Psalm 55:22 (NKJV) - "Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved."
- Surrendering our burdens to God is an act of trust and humility.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, coming to the end of ourselves is not a sign of weakness but of wisdom. It's a transformative journey where we recognize our need for God, surrender our will to Him, trust in His wisdom, find strength in our weakness, and let go of our burdens. As we embrace these truths, we can experience the fullness of God's grace and His transformative power in our lives. May we all strive to come to the end of ourselves and surrender to God's amazing grace. Amen.

Today, I want to talk to you about a topic that is both profoundly important and incredibly empowering: our identity in Christ as sons and daughters of the Most High God.
In the midst of the challenges and uncertainties of the hour we find ourselves in, it becomes even more crucial that we understand who we are in Christ and the incredible privileges and responsibilities that come with this identity.
I. Our Identity in Christ:
A Royal Heritage:
In 1 Peter 2:9 (NKJV), the apostle Peter reminds us that we are "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light."
Chosen Generation:
Christians are referred to as a "chosen generation." This means that believers are chosen by God for a special purpose. God has deliberately selected and called individuals to be part of His family and to serve Him in the world.
Royal Priesthood:
The term "royal priesthood" signifies that all believers have a priestly role in their relationship with God. In the Old Testament, priests were mediators between God and the people, offering sacrifices and interceding on behalf of others. In the New Testament, believers are seen as a "royal priesthood" because they have direct access to God through Jesus Christ and are called to offer spiritual sacrifices and intercede for others.
Holy Nation:
Christians are described as a "holy nation." This implies that believers collectively form a community set apart for God's purposes and characterized by holiness. It emphasizes the call to live lives that reflect God's moral and spiritual purity.
His Own Special People:
Believers are considered "His own special people," signifying that God has a unique and intimate relationship with His followers. They are His treasured possession, and He cares for them deeply.
Proclaiming His Praises:
The ultimate purpose of this chosen generation, royal priesthood, and holy nation is to "proclaim the praises of Him who called [them] out of darkness into His marvelous light." Christians are called to live in a way that reflects God's glory and to share the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ with others.
In essence, 1 Peter 2:9 highlights the identity and purpose of the Christian community. Believers are chosen by God to be a distinct and consecrated people, serving as a royal priesthood with the privilege of direct access to God and the responsibility of sharing His love and salvation with the world. This verse encourages believers to live out their faith in a way that reflects the character and mission of God.
Loved Unconditionally:
As sons and daughters of God, we are loved unconditionally. Romans 8:38-39 (NKJV) assures us that nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus. It says, "For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
To understand what it means to be "joint heirs" with Christ from a theological perspective, we need to delve into the biblical and theological concepts behind this term. The idea of being joint heirs with Christ is rooted in the teachings of the New Testament, primarily in the writings of the apostle Paul.
Adoption as Sons and Daughters:
In the context of our relationship with God, the concept of adoption plays a significant role. Before coming to faith in Christ, we were spiritually separated from God due to sin. However, when we believe in Jesus and accept Him as our Savior, we are adopted into God's family. Romans 8:14-15 (NKJV) explains this: "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, 'Abba, Father.'"
Heirs of God:
As adopted sons and daughters of God, we become heirs of God. This means we have a share in God's inheritance, which includes all the blessings, promises, and spiritual riches that come with being a child of God. Romans 8:17 (NKJV) affirms this: "and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together."
Joint Heirs with Christ:
The term "joint heirs with Christ" signifies that we share in the inheritance of Jesus Himself. This concept emphasizes our union with Christ. As believers, we are not merely bystanders or distant beneficiaries of Christ's work; we are intimately connected to Him. Through our faith in Christ, we become co-heirs of all that Christ has obtained through His redemptive work, which includes eternal life, forgiveness of sins, reconciliation with God, and a future glorious inheritance.
Inheritance in Christ:
Our inheritance in Christ is not just material or earthly, but primarily spiritual and eternal. It includes the assurance of salvation, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, the hope of resurrection, and the promise of spending eternity with God in His presence. Ephesians 1:11-14 (NKJV) beautifully expresses this truth: "In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory. In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory."
Joint Heirs with Christ:
Romans 8:17 (NKJV) tells us that we are joint heirs with Christ, sharing in His inheritance. It says, "and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together."
II. Why We Need to Know Our Identity in Christ:
Identity Provides Stability:
Hebrews 13:8 (NKJV) reminds us that "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." Our identity in Christ is rooted in the unchanging nature of our Savior.
Identity Empowers Us:
Philippians 4:13 (NKJV) declares, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Our identity empowers us to overcome challenges with the strength of Christ.
Identity Leads to Transformation:
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) reveals that "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." Our identity in Christ leads to personal transformation.
III. Embracing Our Identity in Action:
Prayer and Scripture:
Psalm 119:105 (NKJV) reassures us, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." Engaging in prayer and studying the Bible helps us understand and apply our identity in Christ.
Community:
Hebrews 10:24-25 (NKJV) emphasizes the importance of Christian community, saying, "And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching." Christian community encourages us in our faith journey.
Service:
Galatians 5:13 (NKJV) reminds us that "For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another." Our identity calls us to serve and love others, reflecting Christ's love.
The Deceptive Nature of the World:
In the world we live in today, deception is rampant. The apostle Paul warns us in 2 Corinthians 11:3 (NKJV): "But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ." Just as the serpent deceived Eve in the garden, the world can craftily lead us away from the simplicity and truth of our identity in Christ.
Knowing Who We Are:
Understanding our identity in Christ is crucial because it provides us with a solid foundation. When we know who we are as sons and daughters of the Most High God, we are less likely to be swayed by the shifting sands of worldly ideologies, false teachings, and deceitful philosophies.
Protecting Against Falsehood:
The knowledge of our identity in Christ serves as a protective shield against deception. Ephesians 4:14 (NKJV) instructs us: "that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting." When we firmly grasp our identity, we are less susceptible to being carried away by false teachings and deceitful doctrines.
The Armor of God:
Ephesians 6:11 (NKJV) encourages us to "Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil." Our identity in Christ is a vital part of this spiritual armor. Knowing who we are empowers us to stand firm against the schemes and deceptions of the enemy.
Testing All Things:
1 Thessalonians 5:21 (NKJV) instructs us to "Test all things; hold fast what is good." Understanding our identity in Christ enables us to discern what is good and true, helping us test all teachings and ideas against the solid foundation of Scripture.
Conclusion:
As we navigate the challenges and uncertainties of the hour, let us remember that we are not alone. We are sons and daughters of the Most High God, loved unconditionally, and called to live out our identity in Christ. Embracing this identity empowers us to face adversity with faith, grace, and hope. Let us walk confidently in the knowledge that we are children of the King, with an eternal inheritance awaiting us in the presence of our loving Father.
May you find strength and purpose in your identity as a son or daughter of the Most High God, and may your life be a testimony to the transformative power of Christ in you. Amen.

Happy New Year 2024! We are calling it the year to overcome fear because they want to use fear to control us. Tonight we're going to talk about the ways they are trying to make us afraid, very afraid. But there are many ways in the word of God that says that we have not been given a spirit of fear, but of power and love and of a sound mind.

We know that the events surrounding the end times, as described in the Bible, will include a powerful deception (Matthew 24:24;2 Thessalonians 2:11). Recently, interest has been rising in the theory that this deception will include alien beings supposedly from another planet. Although the Bible gives us no word about whether or notaliens exist—there is no inclusion of them in the creation account in Genesis, and no mention of them elsewhere—the Bible does tell us about visitors from another world—the spiritual world.
Since the beginning, instances of demons (fallen angels) visiting the earth have been witnessed and recorded. We know from Eve’s encounter with Satan that demons are interested in monitoring (and altering) the progress of humanity. They want to be involved, with the goal of drawing humanity away from the worship of God and turning mankind’s attention instead to them. Another notable instance of their interaction with us is found inGenesis 6:4with the arrival of the “sons of God.” The Genesis account states that these powerful beings had sexual intercourse with women and produced a super race of beings known as the Nephilim. This sounds like the stuff of science fiction, yet it is right there in the Bible. There are striking similarities between this account and the accounts of other ancient cultures. The writings of the ancient Sumerians, for example (who were the first to produce a written language) mention the presence of the “Anunnaki” who were deities that came from heaven to dwell on earth with men. It is also interesting to note that the Sumerians’ gods often came to them in the form of snakes.
These accounts, seen alongside the amazing things created by ancient man, make it possible to theorize that demons, in the form of beings from another world, came to earth, bringing spectacular wisdom and knowledge to men, and “intermarrying” with their daughters in an attempt to draw men away from God. We already see from Eve’s experience with the serpent that demons will use the temptation of superior wisdom to ensnare man and that man is very susceptible to it.
Could the end times include a similar alien deception? The Bible doesn’t directly address the issue, but it is certainly plausible, for a variety of reasons. First, the Bible tells us that the world will unite under the power of the Antichrist. In order to achieve an agreement between all the world’s religions, it would make sense for the “uniter” to come from an entirely new source—an extraterrestrial source. It is hard to imagine one religion becoming head of all the others, unless new, unearthly knowledge were the source of the appeal and power of the new “religion.” This would be in keeping with past deceptions and would be a very effective way to deceive a large number of people.
Second, this deception could provide an answer to the problem of earth’s origins. The scientific theory that the evolution of life on earth was spontaneously generated still has no answer for life’s beginnings. Many claim that there is evidence for a “big bang,” but there is no explanation for what caused the supposed big bang to occur. If alien beings arrived and gave us an extraterrestrial explanation for life on earth, the origins of the world religions, and even the origins of our planet, it would be very persuasive.
That said, we should not fear. The Lord has said that He will not leave us or forsake us, and that He will protect us (1 Kings 8:57;Matthew 10:31;Isaiah 41:10). Demons / angels are not omnipotent, nor are they omnipresent. Jesus said that in the end times His appearing would be like lightning—easily visible to all. He said to be wary of any being that says “I am the Christ” or any group that says “He’s over there” or “He’s in here” (Matthew 24:23-24). He said that vultures gather around a dead body, meaning that if you see a group of people gathering around someone claiming to be Christ, that person is death and a false prophet.
We should be wary of any person or being that produces signs and wonders without biblical fidelity or the presence of obedience to the Lord Jesus, anyone who provides a way to unite the world religions or governments (Revelation 13:5-8), any being that promotes unnatural sexual relationships (Genesis 6:4;Jude 1:6-7), and of course, any person who denies that Jesus is God (2 John 1:7). Furthermore, anyone who presents a “substitute” Jesus, who represents Him as “a god but not the God” or who claims He was merely a good teacher, simply a human, or even a super-human or an alien creature, is a deceiver.
Lastly, if demons manifesting as aliens are part of the end times, we should remember that they, too, are created beings subject to a sovereign God and ultimately answerable to Him. Whether in alien form or not, the descriptions of demons in Revelation are frightening (Revelation 9:1-12), but we should not fear those who can only kill the body. Instead, we should only fear the One who can kill the body and the soul in hell (Matthew 10:28). No matter what happens to us on the earth, we should trust that the Lord is the Savior, Redeemer, and Protector of the souls of those who put their trust in Him (Psalm 9:10;22:5).

Amen.

The concept of "Great Deception" is discussed in several places in the Bible, and it often refers to a time of widespread spiritual falsehood and deception. Below are some key Scriptures on this topic, along with commentary from various biblical scholars.
1. Matthew 24:24 (NKJV)
"For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect."
This verse is part of Jesus' Olivet Discourse, where He describes the signs of the end times. It warns of a time when false messiahs and false prophets will perform deceptive miracles, posing a great spiritual threat even to believers. Scholars suggest that this deception will be so convincing that it could lead astray those who are not firmly rooted in their faith.
2. 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 (NKJV)
"The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason, God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness."
This passage speaks of the rise of a lawless figure (often associated with the Antichrist) who deceives through supernatural signs and wonders. It emphasizes that those who reject the truth and delight in unrighteousness may be subject to a "strong delusion" as a divine judgment. Scholars differ on the exact nature of this deception, but it is seen as a consequence of rejecting God's truth.
3. 1 Timothy 4:1-2 (NKJV)
"Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron."
This passage warns of a time when people will depart from the faith and be led astray by deceiving spirits and demonic doctrines. It highlights the danger of hypocrisy and a conscience that is no longer sensitive to moral truths. Scholars view this as a warning against false teachings infiltrating the Church.
4. Revelation 13:13-14 (NKJV)
"He performs great signs so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast."
This passage refers to the false prophet and the Antichrist, who will use miraculous signs to deceive people into worshiping the beast. Scholars see this as a culmination of the great deception, where supernatural events are used to lead humanity away from true worship.
5. Revelation 20:7-8 (NKJV)
"Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea."
This passage speaks of Satan's final deception after being released from his prison, where he deceives the nations and gathers them for a final battle against God. Scholars see this as a manifestation of Satan's persistent efforts to lead people away from God's truth.
In summary, the concept of "great deception" in the Bible generally refers to a time of widespread spiritual falsehood and deception in the end times. It includes the rise of false prophets, deceptive signs and wonders, and the rejection of God's truth. Biblical scholars may differ in their interpretations of the specific details, but these passages collectively serve as a warning to remain steadfast in faith and discerning against deception.

Today, we delve into a powerful biblical account from the book of 1 Kings, where the prophet Elijah stood against the prophets of Baal to reveal the true God. This narrative not only serves as an historical lesson but also carries profound implications for the state of the Church and the world today.
Scripture Reading: 1 Kings 18:20-40 (NKJV)
I. The Challenge of Compromise (1 Kings 18:21)
"And Elijah came to all the people, and said, 'How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.' But the people answered him not a word."
- Just as the people of Israel were wavering between God and Baal, many in the Church today struggle with spiritual compromise.
II. The Showdown on Mount Carmel (1 Kings 18:22-24)
"Then Elijah said to the people, 'I alone am left a prophet of the Lord; but Baal’s prophets are four hundred and fifty men. Therefore let them give us two bulls; and let them choose one bull for themselves, cut it in pieces, and lay it on the wood, but put no fire under it; and I will prepare the other bull, and lay it on the wood, but put no fire under it.'"
- The Church today often finds itself in a similar situation, with false teachings and practices in abundance.
III. The Power of Prayer and Faith (1 Kings 18:36-38)
"Then it came to pass, at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, 'Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word. Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that You are the Lord God, and that You have turned their hearts back to You.' Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench."
- In the midst of compromise, Elijah's unwavering faith and prayer brought forth God's miraculous intervention. Our world and the Church need such faith and prayer today.
IV. The Call to Choose (1 Kings 18:39)
"Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, 'The Lord, He is God! The Lord, He is God!'"
- Just as the people on Mount Carmel had to choose, we must make a clear and unwavering choice to serve the one true God.
The story of Elijah and the prophets of Baal reminds us that God is still calling His people to choose Him wholeheartedly and reject compromise. It's crucial for the Church and the world to turn back to the Lord in repentance and unwavering faith. As God's people, let us be the Elijahs of our time, standing for truth and righteousness, that His fire may fall and transform our lives and the world around us.
Here are five additional Scriptures that complement the message about Elijah and the prophets of Baal, emphasizing the importance of unwavering faith and wholehearted devotion to God:
1. James 4:8 (NKJV)
"Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded."
- This verse underscores the need for a single-minded devotion to God, just as Elijah called for a choice between God and Baal.
2. Matthew 6:24 (NKJV)
"No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon."
- Jesus' words remind us of the impossibility of serving both God and worldly desires, reinforcing the theme of choosing wholehearted devotion.
3. Revelation 3:15-16 (NKJV)
"I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth."
- These verses from Revelation highlight God's disdain for lukewarm faith and the importance of being passionately committed to Him.
4. 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)
"If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land."
- This Scripture underscores the significance of repentance, prayer, and turning from wickedness, which aligns with the message of Elijah's time.
5. 1 Corinthians 10:21 (NKJV)
"You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord’s table and of the table of demons."
- Paul's words emphasize the incompatibility of worshiping God and embracing false gods, echoing Elijah's challenge to choose between God and Baal.
