Get a poly carbide wheel for like $4 bucks at almost any local store. If you try and use just a brush wheel it won’t get the deep pockets that will hold gunk. Obviously a sandblaster is best, but this will get you started.

I used 3/8 rebar, I learned to use an vise for some bending before you start hammering the horn. To make sure you hammer round stock square to keep things straight.
