Secret Road Trip - Revealed!
I was invited by Toyota to attend a fancy car show a few hours from my house.
I arrived at the Concours d'Elegance car show in Hilton Head, South Carolina with curiosity. As a car enthusiast and creator of a YouTube channel focused on new vehicle releases, I knew that this event would offer a unique opportunity to see some of the most beautiful and rare cars in the world.
As I walked through the rows of vehicles, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe at the craftsmanship and attention to detail that had gone into creating each one. There were classic cars from every era, ranging from vintage to one-of-a-kind custom builds.
At the Toyota display they brought a selection of its most iconic and beloved models, including a 1967 2000GT, a 1982 Celica GT Convertible, a 1993 Supra Turbo, and a 1995 MR2 Turbo. These were next to Toyota's modern offerings, like the GR Supra, GR Corolla, and GR86, it was clear that the company had a rich history of producing sporty and performance-oriented vehicles.
While Toyota's current lineup is largely practical and focused on efficiency, it was clear that they wanted to portray the brand’s history of producing exciting and dynamic vehicles.
In the end, my trip to the Concours d'Elegance may not have been the most productive in terms of finding new vehicles to feature on my channel, but it was an unforgettable experience that reminded me of the enduring appeal of the automobile and the many ways in which it has captivated people's imaginations over the years.

Something special...

The C34 Jess Horn II was introduced in 1995. It was the second of three Jess Horn designs produced as collaboration models by Spyderco, the others being the C27 Jess Horn and the C38 Jess Horn Lightweight. The production versions have a Hollow sabre grind blade with a prominent Swedge grind and a black Micarta handle. In addition to the standard production version which was available in PE and SE, several special versions of the C34 Jess Horn II were produced exclusively for A.G. Russell. Two of these models had the same dimensions as the production model, but featured Full Flat grind blades with a Swedge grind and different colors of micarta. The other three were of a reduced size and are unique, in that there was no production equivalent in any form. They are known as "Baby Horns" and were made in white Micarta with a Full Flat grind blade like those of the full size A.G. Russell Specials, and in black Micarta and all stainless steel with Hollow sabre grind blades like those of the production C34.
Description from 1997 Pocket Catalog:
"For those who desire a custom design without the associated cost or lengthy wait, Spyderco introduces the second CLIPIT collaboration with Jess Horn. This refined pattern incorporates Jess' precise lines throughout. The scales are made of Micarta in a comfortable shape for everyday use, and the hand-finished premium stainless steel blade is formed in a spearpoint style. The elegant look of this gentleman's lightweight folder makes it worthy of carry for any occasion."

2023 Volvo S60 Recharge Ultimate AWD - Ultimate In-Depth Overview + Test Drive
The entire 2023 lineup of Volvo cars in the U.S. will consist of mild hybrid, hybrid or electric vehicles equipped with Google built-in.
With the popular XC90 and XC40 SUVs, as well as the V60 Cross Country, now receiving mild hybrid engines as standard (badged B4, B5, and B6), the Swedish luxury car brand is making good on its sustainability commitment to electrify its full range of vehicles. The effort reflects another step toward offering only pure electric vehicles by 2030 and being carbon neutral by 2040.
Regardless of lifestyle or access to charging, U.S. customers can now find an electrified Volvo car to fit their daily routines. For those without easy access to charging, mild hybrids offer increased efficiency over their predecessors, yet never need to be plugged in. New extended range plug-in hybrids offer all-electric driving in Pure mode while still providing a traditional gasoline-powered engine. And for those ready to leap directly into the future, the 402 horsepower, battery electric XC40 Recharge small luxury SUV and C40 Recharge luxury crossover offer zero tailpipe emissions.
Google built-in – already standard on the full-electric C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge, the XC60, S90, and V90 Cross Country—rolls out to the entire Volvo Cars range for model year 2023. As part of the Google ecosystem, Volvo cars now offer a seamless transition between digital life at home and on the phone, bringing customers’ digital lives, and much greater personalization, directly into their cars. With Google Assistant for voice control, Google Maps as the native navigation system, and the Google Play store for additional apps, every Volvo car is equipped with a best-in-class digital experience.
With the upgraded infotainment system comes the ability to receive over-the-air (OTA) updates. All new 2023 Volvo cars are capable of receiving and installing software upgrades remotely. As software updates are rolled out, each 2023 Volvo car is expected to continue to improve over its lifetime.
Several models also receive styling updates for the new model year. New colors, wheels, and interior options that include leather-free materials, are available across the range in almost every model. The S60, V60 and V60 Cross Country feature refreshed styling with a new front grille design and updated rear bumper inserts. And with the elimination of trim lines across all models, customers have the freedom to combine the exterior design, interior upholstery, and equipment level of their choice.
Harman Kardon Premium Sound
This high-class audio system delivers a beautifully balanced, powerful sound. Powered by a 600 W digital amplifier, the 14 hi-fi speakers, including an air-ventilated subwoofer, are tailored to the acoustics inside your Volvo and deliver a powerful, high-fidelity surround-sound experience. A unique sound-processing software optimizes the response of the speakers to ensure they perform in perfect harmony. So wherever you're seated, you and your passengers can enjoy a seamless first-class listening experience in all conditions and – not least – an extremely unified and tight bass sound.
Graphical Head-Up Display
The head-up display presents vital driver information so it appears in your field of vision at a distance that's comfortable for your eyes. You can keep your eyes on the traffic at the same time as you see current speed, speed limits, navigation directions and more. You don't have to change focus or look down, which means less strain on the eyes. The brightness of the head-up display adapts automatically to current light conditions, and you can set the system to suit your own personal preferences and link it to the memory function for the power-operated seat.
Power cushion extension, driver
The power-operated seat cushion extension provides comfortable thigh support – very convenient if you have long legs. Smoothly adjusted to your preferences using an intuitive power control, the cushion extension is extra wide to provide generous support no matter how your legs are positioned. And adding to comfort in cold weather, it is electrically heated when combined with heated seats.

2022 VW iD4 Pro S Electric Car - Quick Look Volkswagen
New 62 kWh battery offers a lower-priced ID.4 entry option at $37,495 MSRP
New standard technology includes Park Assist Plus with Memory Parking and 12-inch infotainment display
Upgraded design with all new colors and trim, comfort features, and new alloy wheels on all trims
Now assembled in Chattanooga, Tenn., the result of a further $800 million investment in the U.S. market
High-tech features include IQ.DRIVE® advanced driver assistance technology and a smart infotainment system, using voice and touch
New for 2023
For 2023, Volkswagen is localizing the assembly of the ID.4 all-electric compact SUV, with the models being assembled in the company’s state-of-the-art plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the result of a further $800 million investment in the North American region. Later in 2022, a new version with a 62 kWh battery will be introduced, lowering the price of entry to the ID.4 model line.
The ID.4 offer structure is simple, with three trims—Standard/Pro, S, and S Plus—and the option of 62 kWh and 82 kWh batteries and rear-wheel- or all-wheel-drive.
The entry ID.4, now called the ID.4 Standard, is equipped with a new 62 kWh battery, allowing for a lower price of entry and an EPA-estimated range of 209 miles. The ID.4 Pro continues with an 82 kWh battery that allows for an EPA-estimated range of 275 miles. A single permanent magnet synchronous motor powers the rear wheels and provides 201 horsepower. ID.4 AWD Pro models add an asynchronous motor to the front axle, resulting in a bump to 295 horsepower, and have an EPA-estimated range of 255 miles. The well-equipped ID.4 Standard starts at $37,495 MSRP.
Every ID.4 sees subtle but purposeful styling upgrades for the 2023 model year. On the outside, gloss black highlights adorn the front bumpers; three new wheel designs are available, with S models now receiving 20-inch rims; and S models receive an illuminated rear VW emblem to round out the previously equipped exterior premium lighting package that includes premium LED headlights with the Adaptive Front-lighting System, an illuminated lightline and front VW emblem. Eight available paint colors are steered by trim and offer owners a variety of ways to demonstrate their personal style.
Inside, the ID.4 now boasts a standard 12-inch infotainment display. Moreover, every trim looks more luxurious for 2023. On Standard models, the dash receives stitching in addition to new mélange fabric and leatherette seat side bolsters, replacing the basic cloth upholstery of the previous model. This trim is available with two new interior colors—Stone or Nutmeg. Stone vehicles are paired with black and gray accents, while Nutmeg vehicles bring in attractive brown hues.
On all S models, two new curated leatherette interiors bring an upscale ambience, and the choice between Galaxy or Cosmic finishes. Galaxy vehicles are finished with black leatherette seat inserts paired with Platinum gray bolsters, door inserts, and dash, with a black steering wheel and displays. Vehicles with the Cosmic interior are equipped with gray leatherette seat inserts matched with blue bolsters, door inserts, and dash with a white steering wheel and displays. The door panels receive enhanced stitching to complete the refined look and there’s a revised center console that better serves the needs of American consumers. Heated outer rear seats are now available on the top S Plus trim.
The ID.4 continues to offer a complete suite of state-of-the-art driver assistance technology, further bolstered for 2023. Included are Forward Collision Warning with Automatic Emergency Braking (Front Assist) with pedestrian and (new for 2023) cyclist detection, Active Blind Spot Monitor (Side Assist), front and rear Park Distance Control, and High Beam Control (Light Assist). Furthermore, the advanced IQ.DRIVE® driver assistance suite is standard on every ID.4 model, featuring Travel Assist 2.0 with adaptive cruise control, Lane Keeping System (Lane Assist), Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Traffic Sign Recognition, and Emergency Assist 3.0. New for 2023, ID.4 adds Park Assist Plus with Memory Parking and assisted lane changing functionality as an enhancement of Travel Assist.

Jetta MSRP starts at $20,365 for S manual, Jetta GLI MSRP starts at $31,295 for Autobahn manual
The Jetta has defined affordable German engineering for more than four decades, spending more than three of them as Volkswagen’s best-selling model. In 2022, the torchbearer is refreshed, with new technology and styling elevating both the value-oriented Jetta and the sporty Jetta GLI.
Among the most important updates to the 2022 Jetta is the adoption of the 1.5-liter turbocharged and direct-injection EA211 engine found in the recently launched Taos compact SUV. Offering an ideal combination of low-speed torque and competitive fuel economy, the EA211 is mated to a six-speed manual or a smooth-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the Jetta GLI is powered by Volkswagen’s EA888 turbocharged direct-injection 2.0-liter engine, which produces 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is standard and a seven-speed DSG® dual-clutch automatic transmission is optional.
The refreshed Jetta and GLI models get a style update with new front and rear bumpers, new colors and new wheels. In the front, standard LED headlights frame a redesigned grille. New available exterior colors and unique wheels on each trim level also up the visual ante.
Inside, the Jetta and GLI boast upgraded technology and driver assistance features. The Volkswagen Digital Cockpit instrument cluster now comes standard, as does Volkswagen Car-Net® with in-car Wi-Fi capability when you subscribe to a data plan. On top Jetta trims and the GLI, wireless charging and wireless App-Connect for compatible devices are standard. Base Jetta models come standard with Front Assist, Blind Spot Monitor, and Rear Traffic Alert. IQ.DRIVE® driver assistance technology is available from the Jetta S trim and up (automatic models only), and is standard on GLI.
The 2022 Jetta is offered in four levels: S, SE, SEL, and a new Sport trim. Jetta Sport models offer a great value and enthusiast-inspired content, like the XDS® Cross Differential System, two-tone machined 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, black exterior and interior trim, and sport seats. The GLI is now offered in one fully-loaded trim.
The new EA211 engine can be mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic® shifting. Jetta models with the standard six-speed manual transmission have an EPA-estimated rating of 29 mpg city, 43 mpg highway, and 34 mpg combined. S models equipped with the optional eight-speed automatic transmission have an EPA-estimated rating of 31 mpg city, 41 mpg highway, and 35 mpg combined. SE and SEL models equipped with the optional eight-speed automatic transmission have an EPA-estimated rating of 29 mpg city, 40 mpg highway, and 33 mpg combined.
The Jetta GLI is powered by a Volkswagen EA888 2.0-liter turbocharged and direct-injection TSI® 4-cylinder engine, making 228 horsepower (achieved with premium fuel) and 258 pound-feet of torque. This engine features variable valve timing on the intake and exhaust sides, as well as variable exhaust valve lift.
The power is taken to the front wheels via a standard 6-speed manual transmission, with a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission available optionally. Models equipped with the optional seven-speed DSG® dual-clutch automatic transmission have an EPA-estimated rating of 26 mpg city, 36 mpg highway and 30 mpg combined. All ratings are based on regular unleaded fuel.
All Jetta automatic transmission models come standard with a Start/Stop system designed to help improve fuel efficiency. This technology stops the engine during idle when the brake pedal is held (such as when waiting at a stop light). When the brake pedal is released, the engine restarts.

2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid - Quick Look & Test Drive CRV
All New 4th-generation Two-Motor Hybrid System
CR-V Sport and Sport Touring feature an all-new more advanced two-motor hybrid system. With 247 torque, a 15 lb.-ft. improvement (+6.5%) over the predecessor, the new CR-V delivers greater performance than previous
CR-Vs.
A newly refined 2.0-liter Atkinson cycle 4-cylinder engine, now with direct fuel injection, is mated to a pair of larger and more powerful electric motors which are now mounted side-by-side rather than in-line with the engine crankshaft as in previous generations.
The new arrangement also includes new high- and low-speed lockup ratios for direct engine drive on the highway and in the city. This improves responsiveness for a sportier driving feel and creates a more relaxed driving environment at highway speeds. It also allows for a higher sustained top speed, improves fuel efficiency and enables up to 1,000 pounds of towing. The system's combined output is 204 hp 1.
The new traction motor spins at 14,500 rpm and produces 181 horsepower. The generator motor, which spins at 17,000 rpm, puts out 161 horsepower, and is dedicated to charging the battery pack.
Quietness has been improved during idling and power generation by incorporating a pre-damper into the flywheel that reduces torque fluctuations from the engine, suppressing vibration at low rpm/low torque speeds.
The new Intelligent Power Unit (IPU) containing the battery pack and its controlling hardware is smaller and lighter. The smaller size of the IPU allowed for the cooling fan to be fully integrated into the unit, rather than externally mounted, reducing noise 13%.
The Power Control Unit (PCU) housed under the hood has 8% more maximum output and current. It also has a lower profile, which allows for the use of a larger resonator for the engine intake to reduce noise. A new downsized DC cable with aluminum stranded wire weighs 46% less.
The new hybrid system also incorporates Linear Shift Control, which creates the vehicle speed-linked engine rev feel of a conventional drivetrain shifting gears at wide open throttle for a more exhilarating driving experience.
A new "B" transmission setting enables stronger regenerative and engine braking, up to 0.09G. This enables CR-V to be driven in a "one pedal" style that is common among battery-electric vehicles. In addition, the levels of deceleration available through the deceleration selector paddles on the steering wheel are more distinct.
The new hybrid-electric system also allows for a substantial increase in continuous maximum speed—which climbs from 86 mph to 115 mph.
Moreover, for the first time, a CR-V hybrid model is available with front-wheel drive. The CR-V Sport is available with front or all-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is standard on the CR-V Sport Touring.
Direct Injected 2.0-liter Atkinson-Cycle Engine
The new two-motor hybrid system also features an updated 2.0-liter DOHC 4-cylinder Atkinson-cycle engine with improved power, refinement and environmental performance. Since the gasoline engine can be decoupled from the rest of the hybrid powertrain, it only operates as needed, depending on the state of battery charge and other parameters.
Peak engine output improves to 145 horsepower (SAE net at 6,100 rpm) and 138 lb.-ft. of torque (SAE net at 4,500 rpm), gains of 2 hp and 9 lb.-ft. of torque. The 2.0-liter is the first Honda engine for the North American market to combine high-pressure direct-injection with multistage injection for an extremely homogeneous mixture that delivers clean combustion. It also improves the stoichiometric area of the engine at higher loads by up to 30% and improves the heat efficiency of the engine to nearly 41%. To control high exhaust gas temperatures, the cylinder head uses a new two-piece water jacket, new gas-cooling exhaust ports and a large capacity cooled EGR valve.
Critical to the operation of the Atkinson cycle is a lightweight DOHC cylinder head, with Variable Timing Control (VTC) on the intake cam used to continuously adjust the intake cam phase.
To further reduce emissions, a new low-temperature active catalyst with a low level of noble metals, drops NOx emissions by 24%, and total hydrocarbon emissions by 22%, giving the CR-V hybrids a LEV3 SULEV 30 rating.
The engine also features a more rigid crankshaft and secondary balancer to reduce vibration. A new all-urethane engine cover reduces noise from the new direct-injection system. For the first time in a Honda, a new insulator using theta fiber cell technology, a lightweight fiber-foam-material highly resistant to heat and vibration, is employed on the rear of the engine.

2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Bronze Edition AWD - Quick Overview & Test Drive
The new Highlander Hybrid Bronze Edition, available in either Cement (exclusive to Bronze Edition), Wind Chill Pearl (new for 2022 Highlander) or Midnight Black Metallic exterior colors, includes bronze-colored accents on the exterior and interior, including 18-inch bronze wheels, bronze interior stitching, illuminated bronze door sills and mid-century, modern-inspired SofTex-trimmed seats with fabric insert and bronze stitching. Also exclusive to the Highlander Hybrid Bronze Edition are unique floor and cargo mats embroidered with a special bronze logo.
Building off of the popular Highlander Hybrid XLE grade, unique standard features of the new Bronze Edition include:
Hands-free power liftgate
Rain-sensing wipers
Digital rearview mirror
1500 W. power outlets
Puddle lamps with Highlander logo
In-dash ambient lighting
Driver seat memory with 10-way power seat
The Highlander Hybrid Bronze Edition is also a glimpse into new offerings for 2022 Highlander, overall. This includes Wind Chill Pearl now added to exterior color palate (replacing Blizzard Pearl) and the addition of height/tilt power passenger seat adjustments, which will also be standard on 2022 Highlander XLE and above.
The 2022 Highlander Bronze Edition gets a grip on the road with a choice of FWD or a unique AWD system for Highlander Hybrid grades. For customers looking for additional grip, the 2022 Highlander Hybrid’s AWD system employs a separate rear-mounted electric motor to power the rear wheels when needed. Like the hybrid powertrain itself, the AWD is designed to work seamlessly and transparently.
The Toyota Hybrid System in the 2022 Highlander Hybrid combines a high-efficiency 2.5-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine with two electric. The gas engine employs Variable Valve Timing-intelligent system by Electric motor (VVT-iE) on the intake camshaft, and VVT-i on the exhaust camshaft. A variable cooling system (electric water pump, electric thermostat) and a fully variable oil pump help to further enhance engine efficiency.
The bottom line is an eye opener for the efficiency-minded: 243 total system horsepower, up to an EPA-estimated 36 combined MPG and a towing capacity of up to 3,500 pounds. The hybrid is available in either front-Wheel Drive (FWD) or All-Wheel Drive (AWD).
The transaxle mounts the electric motors (MG1 and MG2) coaxially rather than in-line, and the resulting smaller and lighter package reduces frictional losses. The gas engine and MG2 work in concert to deliver dynamic performance, while both MG1 and MG2 charge the hybrid battery.
To reduce the transaxle’s size and weight, the reduction gear is a parallel shaft gear rather than a planetary gear, and a multi-function gear integrates the power-split planetary ring gear, parking gear and counter-drive gear. Computer integration and a smaller, lighter power stack installed directly above the transaxle help reduce energy transmission losses.
The battery pack is small enough to be installed under the second-row seats, so it does not take up any cargo or passenger space. This means Highlander Hybrid drivers get all the benefits of a hybrid powertrain without sacrificing much-needed cargo room for everyday activities.
