2023 Honda HR-V Sport - Ultimate In-Depth Look in 4K HRV
Available in LX, Sport and EX-L
Larger and more powerful 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine
Updated continuously variable transmission (CVT) improves response and efficiency
New Step Shift programming simulates gear changes under acceleration
Improved available Real Time AWD features enhanced traction management on snow
Honda-first Hill Descent Control is standard
Econ, Snow, Normal drive modes for custom driving experience
Larger, More Powerful Engine
Powering all HR-V grades is a new, larger 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine producing 158-horsepower (SAE net at 6,500 rpm) and 138 lb.-ft. of torque (SAE net at 4,200 rpm). The new engine represents increases of 17 hp and 11 lb.-ft. of torque compared to the outgoing HR-V.
A new catalytic converter reduces emissions to the SULEV30 federal standard while using a minimum of rare metals. HR-V's first Idle Stop system aids fuel efficiency.
To help minimize noise and vibration, HR-V's 2.0-liter inline four has a lightweight die-cast aluminum block with a bedplate main-bearing design that creates a rigid crankcase assembly. Cast-in iron cylinder liners provide long-lasting durability. Thin slits between each adjacent cylinder sleeve help improve engine cooling and knocking.
Each journal on the lightweight heat-forged steel crankshaft is micro-polished to reduce internal friction, helping improve smoothness throughout the rpm range and lower noise levels.
Cylinder Head and i-VTEC® Valvetrain
The HR-V's standard 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine has a lightweight DOHC cylinder head that is made of low-pressure cast aluminum alloy. With exhaust passages cast directly into the cylinder head, the need for a traditional separate exhaust manifold is eliminated and the catalytic converter mounts directly to the cylinder head.
A low-friction silent chain drives dual overhead cams which in turn operate four valves per cylinder. The cam drive is maintenance free throughout the life of the engine. To assist cooling and detonation resistance, the cylinder head has a cooling passage placed between each pair of exhaust valves.
Combustion chamber shape and valve angles are optimized to help boost fuel efficiency and power. The included valve angle is 35 degrees, to decrease the surface-to-volume ratio of the combustion chambers and help create a flat, compact combustion chamber that minimizes unburned hydrocarbon emissions. The design yields a compression ratio of 10.8:1, yet the engine still operates on regular unleaded fuel.
A high-tumble intake-port design combines with the combustion chamber and piston crown shape to create a high level of airflow tumble. This helps create a homogenous fuel mixture for fuel efficiency and high airflow for high power output.
The 2.0-liter DOHC 16-valve i-VTEC® engine uses an advanced valve control system to combine high power output with high fuel efficiency and low emissions. The system combines dual Variable Timing Control™ (VTC™), which continuously adjusts the intake and exhaust camshaft phase, with Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (VTEC®), which changes valve lift, timing and duration of intake valve opening.
By continuously varying the timing of the intake and exhaust camshafts, VTC™ is key to the "intelligent" portion of the system. This helps increase power while also providing a smoother idle (allowing idle speed to be reduced). The cam timing is varied based on input from sensors that monitor rpm, timing, throttle opening, cam position and exhaust air-fuel ratio. The result is increased fuel efficiency and lower emissions. Under certain conditions, VTC™ can hold the intake valves open longer to allow a reverse airflow of intake air into the intake manifold, further improving efficiency.
Pistons/Connecting Rods
Designed with "cavity-shaped" crowns, the pistons in the 2.0-liter engine help maintain stable combustion and contribute to improved efficiency. To reduce weight, minimize vibration and increase operating efficiency, the lightweight pistons have a carefully optimized skirt design. Ion-plated piston rings help reduce friction for greater operating efficiency. Heavy-duty steel connecting rods with tapered small ends are heat-forged in one piece and then "crack separated" to create lighter and stronger rods with an optimally fitted bearing cap.

2022 Toyota Corolla SE Manual - Revisit
With more than 50 million Toyota Corollas sold globally since its introduction in 1966, it seems everyone has a Corolla story. The 2022 Corolla sedan keeps the legend going, all with the dependability, fuel efficiency, safety and value established by its heritage. With choices of a performance Apex Edition, bold Nightshade Edition or stylish standard models, the Corolla is the compact sedan fit for every adventure. Drivers can even choose from a Hybrid or Hatchback model.
For drivers craving performance, they need to look no further than the 2022 Corolla Apex Edition. Built on the SE and XSE grade, the Apex Edition uses the 2.0-liter Dynamic Force Engine and delivers 169-horsepower, a dynamically tuned suspension, a punchier bark with a sport-tuned exhaust and a factory-custom body package that accentuates the Corolla’s edgy styling,
For the style conscious driver, the Corolla Nightshade Edition also returns for 2022. Featuring blackout trim and blacked-out 18-inch alloy wheels to the customer’s choice of Black Sand Pearl, Classic Silver Metallic or White exterior color. The blackout look covers the lower rocker panels, front valance, door handles, mirror caps, shark fin antenna, rear roof spoiler and headlight inner frames. Black Fabric premium seating comfortably carries the driver and passengers. The SE Nightshade Edition comes with the 2.0L 4-cylinder powerplant and is available with a 6-speed intelligent assist manual transmission or automatic Dynamic Shift Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).

The L, LE and XLE grades also keep pace with stylish good looks and fuel-sipping 1.8-liter four-cylinder DOHC 16-Valve engine that produces 139 horsepower at 6,100 rpm and 126 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,900 rpm. The Corolla delivers plenty of smiles per gallon, bringing up to 40 EPA estimated MPG on the SE grade (with CVT).
The Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 suite of active safety systems comes standard on every Corolla sedan model. TSS 2.0 includes a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/PD), Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA), Automatic High Beams (AHB), Road Sign Assist (RSA), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) and Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC).

The 2022 Corolla sedan rides on a 106.3-inch wheelbase and brings dynamic performance with wide front (+0.47 in.) and rear (+0.87 in.) track dimensions. The bold front fascia details vary by model grade, with the SE and XSE putting on the sportiest face, including a body-color chin spoiler and aero stabilizing fins to emphasize the wide stance. The slim, J-shaped Bi-Beam LED headlamps wrap deeply into the front fenders and give the Corolla sedan a steely stare and a distinct nighttime signature. The sporty SE and XSE grades use triple J-shaped clearance lamps with LED lights along with LED turn signals, creating a unique design signature.
The available Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS) provides a wider field of light and steers the low beam in the direction of the turn, based on steering angle and vehicle speed.
The rear leaves a distinct lighting impression as well, with narrow combination lamps that wrap deeply into the fenders. All 2022 Corolla sedan models use LEDs, the type and style varying by model grade. The sporty grades feature smoked outer light lenses.
What better way to showcase the Corolla sedan’s dramatic sheet metal than with bold colors? Dramatic hues include single and duo-color options. There’s the highly iridescent Celestite and Blueprint and the rest of the palette includes Windchill Pearl, White, Ruby Flare Pearl, Blue Crush Metallic, Classic Silver Metallic and Black Sand Pearl. Duo colors include Blue Crush Metallic, White, Ruby Flare Pearl, Cement, Blueprint, Wind Chill Pearl, Classic Silver Metallic and Celestite all paired with a Black Sand Pearl roof (duo color option are extra cost colors).
With 18-inch wheels standard on the SE and XSE grades, these multi-spoke alloys get their great looks from a complex machining technique paired with deep surfacing and dark gray accents. The LE Hybrid rides on 15-in. alloy wheels with covers while the LE grade gets 16-inch steel wheels with covers. The XLE grade gets 16-inch alloy wheels with three-dimensional twisted spokes.

Models equipped with the Discover Pro infotainment system with navigation are able to display a full screen map in the digital cluster and simultaneously on the center display.
User experience designers have developed a unique GTI graphics layout for the standard Digital Cockpit. It can be opened using the new “View” button on the steering wheel and consists of a combination of three round instruments: the rev counter with GTI logo in the center surrounded by one round instrument each on the left and right. These can be individually assigned, for instance to show the engine’s boost pressure or the current power output.
MIB3 Infotainment. All 2022 GTI models feature innovative Volkswagen MIB3 touchscreen infotainment systems. The displays utilize a capacitive-touch sensor (as in smartphone and tablet technology) rather than the more common resistive touchscreens that require pressure, enabling controls like swiping and even pinch-zooming. Bluetooth technology for compatible devices is standard, as is App-Connect smartphone integration for compatible devices, which offers users the ability to run select smartphone apps directly on the vehicle’s display through services such as Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™ and MirrorLink®.
The GTI S features a Composition Color MIB3 infotainment system with a glass-covered 8.25-inch display, wireless charging for compatible devices, multi-phone pairing, HD radio, and four USB-C ports—two front, two charge-only rear. With a paid Car-Net Hotspot subscription and Plus Nav package, maps can be automatically updated with current traffic and construction information.
The GTI’s EA888 evo4 engine displaces 1984cc and produces 241 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 273 lb-ft of torque at just 1,750 rpm. The evo4 engine is paired with either a six-speed manual transmission or an optional seven-speed DSG automatic transmission with Tiptronic®.
DCC. The Golf GTI Autobahn features the latest version of the DCC adaptive damping system, which manages the suspension’s rebound and compression rates individually, helping to improve vehicle dynamics. The DCC adaptive damping system continuously reacts to the road surface and driving situation while taking account of various inputs including steering, braking, and acceleration. By means of the set driving profile mode, the driver can influence the reduction in body motion as desired. The required damping is calculated for each wheel and adjusted within fractions of a second. This ensures that DCC always provides the highest level of driving comfort and ideal driving dynamics in conjunction with the vehicle dynamics system. For example, “Comfort” optimizes the dampers for a smooth highway ride, while “Sport” favors a firmer setting for better cornering performance.
In the latest DCC generation, the vehicle setup can be extended in “Custom” mode to go beyond the existing range of the fixed “Comfort,” “Normal,” and “Sport” modes. The driver can set and store their personal driving profile using a digital slider to adjust damping firmness. Beyond the “Comfort” setting, the body is isolated from the road surface as much as possible. Beyond “Sport” mode, there is an extended setting range with maximum damping for minimized body movements and extremely direct handling for that unbridled GTI feeling.

2022 Toyota RAV4 TRD Off Road - Ultimate In-Depth Look & Test Drive
What’s New for 2022
For 2022, the RAV4 is getting some enticing updates, including a new SE Hybrid grade as well as some exterior and interior updates across all grades.
Designed for customers looking for sporty performance and sporty style but at a lower price compared to the XSE, the new SE Hybrid grade for RAV4 includes mono-tone paint, fabric trimmed seats and a 7-inch touchscreen with six speakers. And the SE Hybrid grade’s available options are exceptional, as well as smartly packaged. The weather package is a commuter’s dream, offering a heated leather steering wheel, heated front seats and rain-sensing windshield wipers with a de-icer function. The convenience package includes a moonroof, height adjustable power liftgate and not to mention, Audio Plus that upgrades to a 9-inch touchscreen.
RAV4 gets some enticing exterior and interior features across all grades when it goes on sale next month. The RAV4 XSE gets a bold new color in Calvary Blue with a black roof. In fact, Calvary Blue will also make its way on the new SE Hybrid grade, as well as the existing TRD Off-Road.
There are quite a few updates to the wheels as well. LE Hybrid, XLE and XLE Hybrid get a new color for their wheels, as does the Adventure grade. While the XLE Premium Hybrid and Limited Hybrid get a new design, as does the XSE Hybrid.
XLE grades and above get updated headlamps – both for style and for capability improvement. New LED foglamps are being introduced for XLE Premium, Limited, Adventure and TRD Off Road. And the XSE Hybrid gets the super sleek vertical lights that debuted on the XSE Prime in 2021.
Interior updates are also found across multiple grades:
Locking glove box and LED interior lamps added to all grades.
XLE and above get illuminated interior switches.
Limited grade gets an 8-way power passenger seat.
In gas models, the 203-horsepower Dynamic Force 2.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine is paired with an 8-speed Direct-Shift automatic transmission. This combo has an impressive EPA-estimated 28 MPG city / 35 MPG highway / 30 combined MPG ratings in the front-wheel drive LE model, the best ever for a gas RAV4.

2022 Ford Maverick - Test Drive Experience
Full overview: https://youtu.be/GPdEYo0gZ3Q
Night video: https://youtu.be/OO5XAiuUcqU
The all-new Ford Maverick is a compact truck with a unibody design and the first pickup in America with a standard full-hybrid powertrain – providing better projected city fuel economy than a Honda Civic***. Its 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder hybrid powertrain delivers 191 horsepower when combined with the electric motor, and 155 lb.-ft. of torque mated to a continuously variable transmission driving the front wheels. It features an in-house-designed and manufactured electric traction motor, which is light and powerful. Along with its targeted EPA-estimated fuel economy of 40 mpg city* and 500 miles of range on a single tank of gas**, it offers standard payload of 1,500 pounds and the volume to carry a standard ATV, plus it has the capability to tow 2,000 pounds – enough for a pair of personal watercraft or a good-sized pop-up camper trailer.
Those who want more capability can upgrade to a 2.0-liter EcoBoost® gas engine delivering 250 horsepower and 277 lb.-ft. of torque with an 8-speed automatic transmission and standard front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive. Equipped with the optional 4K Tow Package, conventional towing doubles to 4,000 pounds – enough for an average 21-foot boat.
Its standard 8-inch center touch screen features Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto® compatibility so customers can have the experience they’re used to with their phones. Maverick has standard FordPass™ Connect with embedded modem and Wi-Fi for up to 10 devices , while standard FordPass™ makes it easy to find the truck, check fuel level, lock and unlock the doors, and start or turn off the vehicle – all from your phone.
The interior design is stylish and spacious, with thoughtful features and the versatility for city driving or escaping the urban life. Surprisingly roomy, there’s excellent leg and headroom, shoulder and hip width, and a comfortable seating position for both rows.
Ford Co-Pilot360™ technology includes standard Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking and Automatic High Beam Headlamps. Available options include Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane Centering and Evasive Steering Assist. Five standard drive modes include Normal, Eco, Sport, Slippery and Tow/Haul to enhance performance and confidence over various driving conditions.
Maverick really goes all-out when it comes to functionality with its unique FLEXBED™, which is packed with standard features and opportunities to transform the cargo box into a complete makerspace. FLEXBED gives customers organization and storage solutions to secure cargo, while accommodating Ford accessories and creative DIY solutions. The team developed its features after watching people at home improvement and furniture stores as well as college kids moving into their dorms, observing how they struggled to load things into small crossovers and cars while working around the cargo limitations they faced.
People can create segmented storage, bike racks, and other DIY solutions by sliding 2x4s or 2x6s into slots stamped into the side of the bed. There are two tie-downs, four D-rings and built-in threaded holes in the sides to bolt in new creations.
The 4.5-foot bed can carry 1,500 pounds of payload, the equivalent of roughly 37 bags of 40-pound mulch, and has a six-foot floor with the tailgate down. Maverick can carry long and wide stuff too, thanks to its multi-position tailgate. It opens normally, but also has a halfway-open position – just unclip the support cables and hook them onto the latch pins. It’s easy. The tailgate features tie-down clamps that double as bottle openers, and is rated to hold 500 pounds of friends hanging out and taking a seat. The bed floor and sides are low, so almost any size adult can reach over and grab items off the floor.
Maverick is offered at three trim levels – XL, XLT and Lariat. An FX4 package available for all-wheel-drive XLT and Lariat trucks adds more off-road capability with rugged all-terrain tires and suspension tuning, additional underbody protection, and off-road-focused drive modes like Mud/Rut and Sand, as well as the addition of Hill Descent Control™.
Available for the first model year only is the Maverick First Edition package. It is built off the Lariat trim level and includes unique graphics on the hood and lower doors, a high-gloss black-painted roof, soft tonneau cover, body-color door handles, high-gloss black skull caps, and gloss black-painted and machined 18-inch wheels for hybrid or unique 17-inch aluminum wheels for the gas model. It comes in Carbonized Gray, Area 51 and Rapid Red, unique to First Edition.
