17th to 21st Amendment - Documents that made America series
The need for the Constitution grew out of problems with the Articles of Confederation, which established a “firm league of friendship” between the States, and vested most power in a Congress of the Confederation. This power was, however, extremely limited—the central government conducted diplomacy and made war, set weights and measures, and was the final arbiter of disputes between the States. Crucially, it could not raise any funds itself, and was entirely dependent on the States themselves for the money necessary to operate. Each State sent a delegation of between two and seven members to the Congress, and they voted as a bloc with each State getting one vote. But any decision of consequence required a unanimous vote, which led to a government that was paralyzed and ineffectual.
A movement to reform the Articles began, and invitations to attend a convention in Philadelphia to discuss changes to the Articles were sent to the State legislatures in 1787. In May of that year, delegates from 12 of the 13 States (Rhode Island sent no representatives) convened in Philadelphia to begin the work of redesigning government. The delegates to the Constitutional Convention quickly began work on drafting a new Constitution for the United States.

Crossing the Mackinac Bridge - St. Ignace to Mackinac
The Mackinac Bridge is a suspension bridge that spans the Straits of Mackinac, connecting the Upper and Lower Peninsulas of the State of Michigan. It is named after the Straits of Mackinac, which is the waterway that separates Lake Michigan and Lake Huron.
Construction: The bridge construction began in 1954 and was completed in 1957. It was designed by engineer David B. Steinman and is considered an engineering marvel.
Length: The total length of the Mackinac Bridge is approximately 26,372 feet (8,038 meters), or approximately 5 miles. It is one of the longest suspension bridges in the world.
Design: The bridge consists of two main towers, each standing at a height of 552 feet (168 meters) above the water. The total length of the main span between the towers is 3,800 feet (1,158 meters).
Toll Bridge: The Mackinac Bridge is a toll bridge, and motorists are required to pay a toll when crossing the bridge. The toll helps fund the maintenance and operation of the bridge.
Importance: The bridge serves as a crucial transportation link, connecting the Upper Peninsula with the Lower Peninsula of Michigan. It is a popular route for travelers and tourists, offering scenic views of the surrounding Great Lakes.
Annual Bridge Walk: On Labor Day, the Mackinac Bridge Authority organizes an annual event called the "Mackinac Bridge Walk." During this event, thousands of people walk across the bridge, starting from St. Ignace on the north end to Mackinaw City on the south end.
The Mackinac Bridge is not only an important transportation infrastructure but also a prominent symbol of Michigan. It has become an iconic landmark known for its beauty and engineering excellence.
SONG CREDIT GORDON LIGHTFOOT
"The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" is a song written and performed by Canadian singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot. The song was released in 1976 and became one of Lightfoot's most popular and enduring compositions.
The song tells the tragic story of the sinking of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald, a freighter that went down on Lake Superior on November 10, 1975. The Edmund Fitzgerald was a large iron ore carrier and one of the largest ships on the Great Lakes at the time.
The ship was caught in a severe storm with hurricane-force winds and high waves. Despite efforts to reach safety, the Edmund Fitzgerald eventually sank, resulting in the loss of all 29 crew members on board. The exact cause of the sinking remains unknown.
Gordon Lightfoot's song, "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald," pays tribute to the crew members and captures the haunting and mysterious nature of the tragedy.
LYRICS
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
The lake, it is said, never gives up her dead
When the skies of November turn gloomy
With a load of iron ore twenty-six thousand tons more
Than the Edmund Fitzgerald weighed empty
That good ship and true was a bone to be chewed
When the gales of November came early
The ship was the pride of the American side
Coming back from some mill in Wisconsin
As the big freighters go, it was bigger than most
With a crew and good captain well seasoned
Concluding some terms with a couple of steel firms
When they left fully loaded for Cleveland
And later that night when the ship's bell rang
Could it be the north wind they'd been feelin'?
The wind in the wires made a tattle-tale sound
And a wave broke over the railing
And every man knew, as the captain did too
'Twas the witch of November come stealin'
The dawn came late and the breakfast had to wait
When the gales of November came slashin'
When afternoon came, it was freezin' rain
In the face of a hurricane west wind
When suppertime came, the old cook came on deck sayin'
Fellas, it's too rough to feed ya
At seven PM, a main hatchway caved in
He said, fellas, it's been good to know ya
The captain wired in he had water comin' in
And the good ship and crew was in peril
Came the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald
Does anyone know where the love of God goes
When the waves turn the minutes to hours?
The searches all say they'd have made Whitefish Bay
If they'd put fifteen more miles behind her
They might have split up or they might have capsized
They may have broke deep and took water
And all that remains is the faces and the names
Of the wives and the sons and the daughters
Lake Huron rolls, Superior sings
In the rooms of her ice-water mansion
Old Michigan steams like a young man's dreams
The islands and bays are for sportsmen
And farther below, Lake Ontario
Takes in what Lake Erie can send her
And the iron boats go as the mariners all know
With the gales of November remembered
In a musty old hall in Detroit they prayed
In the Maritime Sailors' Cathedral
The church bell chimed till it rang twenty-nine times
For each man on the Edmund Fitzgerald
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early

Nuclear Russia
Russia is one of the world's largest nuclear powers, possessing the world's largest stockpile of nuclear weapons. The country's nuclear program began in the 1940s under the Soviet Union and continued after the collapse of the USSR in 1991.
Russia has a variety of nuclear facilities, including nuclear power plants, research reactors, and nuclear weapon production facilities. The country has 10 nuclear power plants with a total of 38 operational nuclear reactors, which provide about 20% of Russia's electricity. In addition, Russia has a number of nuclear research facilities, including the Institute for Nuclear Research in Moscow and the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna.
Russia's nuclear weapons program is shrouded in secrecy, but it is estimated that the country has approximately 6,375 nuclear warheads, making it the largest nuclear power in the world. The country has developed a wide range of nuclear weapons, including intercontinental ballistic missiles, submarine-launched ballistic missiles, and nuclear-capable bombers.
Russia is also involved in international efforts to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons and has signed a number of treaties, including the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty. However, relations between Russia and other countries, particularly the United States, have sometimes been tense, with disputes over nuclear arms control and non-proliferation efforts.

America under attack - Rumble Exclusive
United States, officially United States of America, abbreviated U.S. or U.S.A., byname America, country in North America, a federal republic of 50 states. Besides the 48 conterminous states that occupy the middle latitudes of the continent, the United States includes the state of Alaska, at the northwestern extreme of North America, and the island state of Hawaii, in the mid-Pacific Ocean. The conterminous states are bounded on the north by Canada, on the east by the Atlantic Ocean, on the south by the Gulf of Mexico and Mexico, and on the west by the Pacific Ocean. The United States is the fourth largest country in the world in area (after Russia, Canada, and China). The national capital is Washington, which is coextensive with the District of Columbia, the federal capital region created in 1790.
United States
United States
The major characteristic of the United States is probably its great variety. Its physical environment ranges from the Arctic to the subtropical, from the moist rain forest to the arid desert, from the rugged mountain peak to the flat prairie. Although the total population of the United States is large by world standards, its overall population density is relatively low. The country embraces some of the world’s largest urban concentrations as well as some of the most extensive areas that are almost devoid of habitation.
The United States contains a highly diverse population. Unlike a country such as China that largely incorporated indigenous peoples, the United States has a diversity that to a great degree has come from an immense and sustained global immigration. Probably no other country has a wider range of racial, ethnic, and cultural types than does the United States. In addition to the presence of surviving Native Americans (including American Indians, Aleuts, and Eskimos) and the descendants of Africans taken as enslaved persons to the New World, the national character has been enriched, tested, and constantly redefined by the tens of millions of immigrants who by and large have come to America hoping for greater social, political, and economic opportunities than they had in the places they left. (It should be noted that although the terms “America” and “Americans” are often used as synonyms for the United States and its citizens, respectively, they are also used in a broader sense for North, South, and Central America collectively and their citizens.)

Electromagnetism Part Duex and News
Electromagnetism is a branch of physics that deals with the study of the electromagnetic force, which is one of the four fundamental forces of nature. The electromagnetic force is responsible for the interaction between electrically charged particles, such as electrons and protons, and is also responsible for the generation, transmission, and reception of electromagnetic waves, such as light and radio waves.
Electromagnetism is described by a set of equations known as Maxwell's equations, which were first formulated by the Scottish physicist James Clerk Maxwell in the 19th century. These equations describe the behavior of electric and magnetic fields and their interaction with charged particles.
Electromagnetism has a wide range of practical applications in our everyday lives, including in the generation of electricity, the operation of electric motors, the transmission of radio and television signals, and the functioning of electronic devices such as computers and mobile phones.

Train Derailments
An overwhelming stench of chlorine filled the air this week where Nathen Velez and his wife had been raising their two children, quickly burning his throat and eyes.
The odor has lingered nearly two weeks after a Norfolk Southern train carrying hazardous materials derailed near the Ohio-Pennsylvania line, igniting an inferno that burned for days and prompted evacuations in surrounding areas while crews managed detonations to release vinyl chloride, which can kill quickly at high levels and increase cancer risk.
The stay-away order was lifted five days after the derailment, after air and water sample results led officials to deem the area safe, the East Palestine, Ohio, fire chief said at the time. Governors of both states that day said air quality samples had “consistently showed readings at points below safety screening levels for contaminants of concern” – but also advised private well users to opt for bottled water and offered free well testing.
