It's auction week for Grand Rapids Brewing Company.
After eleven-years in business, the brewery recently announced that it was permanently closing following a February fire which left the building on Ionia Avenue Southwest heavily damaged. On Thursday, online bidding will begin for items inside the building, including bar stools, signs, lights, tap handles, kegs, and more. The building will also be open to the public on Thursday so that items can be seen in person before bidding.

A documentary from ABC News on James and Jennifer Crumbley will be released on Hulu Thursday.
Titled "Sins of the Parents," it details their failings as parents that led to their then-15-year-old son, Ethan, shooting and killing four students at Michigan;s Oxford High School in November 2021. They were the first parents of a mass shooter to be tried in the U.S. and both have been sentenced to between ten and 15 years in prison. The Oakland County chief assistant prosecutor says he hopes the documentary has a serious tone and is not just attention-grabbing.

After more than 20 years South Haven officials are considering bringing back lifeguards
City council members heard a presentation about a three-year plan to implement lifeguards once again. This year's phase-one would focus on training while 2025 would emphasize recruiting a staff of lifeguards ready to go by next Memorial Day weekend. South Haven is being sued for negligence by the families of two swimmers who drowned in Lake Michigan in 2022.

Officials say the annual Ford Fireworks show over the Detroit River will be held June 24th.
The Parade Company produces the show which is one of the largest fireworks displays in America. This year's theme is "Color The Sky With Sunshine" and Zambelli Fireworks will once again provide a musical arrangement for the show. Three new dairy herds in three counties have been linked to the bird flu.
The Ionia, Isabella and Ottawa counties join Montcalm County in dealing with the outbreak. Federal experts are saying there is no threat to commercial milk supply and that there is no greater health risk to the general population.

General Motors is giving employees at it's Fort Wayne Indiana three weeks off.
The downtime is scheduled for the weeks of April 29, June 24 and July 8, and is so the assembly plant can prepare the plant for production of the next-generation Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra full-size pickups.

The 48505 ZIP code, located in Flint, has a median home price of $27,703, according to real estate website Zillow. Two other zip codes in the state were also in the top four, one being in Flint and one in Detroit. American Home Shield studied ZIP codes with at least 10,000 residents across the country, using data from October 2023. That included 325 communities in Michigan.

Those routes started service yesterday. Frontier will start offering nonstop service from Detroit Metro to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport on April 22. Those flights will also be four times a week.

The Grand Rapids Comic Con is preparing for a fun weekend in Kalamazoo.
The event will take place at the Kalamazoo County Event and Expo Center and will feature a few special and one creepy guests. Man who Brought Grenade to Lansing State Police Post not a Threat
The sergeant on duty at the time called the bomb squad when he saw a man walk in with a grenade, but it turned out that the man was an Army veteran who found his misplaced grenade while cleaning out his house. Police are now urging citizens not to pick up explosive devices that they see, and to immediately call the police instead of trying to transport the devices to them.

A Grand Rapids barber is providing free haircuts to Grand Valley State University
Cecil Jackson owns The Executive Cut in Grand Rapids and has partnered with the university to bring a mobile barbershop to campus every Monday and Tuesday. He says it was one of his long-term plans because he knows there are students from other cities and states that might not know where to get a haircut and might not find someone who knows how to cut hair for minorities.

The Detroit Zoo will feature Dinosauria, an immersive walk-through dinosaur experience.
The experience will open on May 25 and run until early September. The exhibit includes a walking trail with 34 life-sized animatronic dinosaurs, fossil dig sites, educational exhibits and more. Tickets for the attraction have not yet been released.

One Powerball ticket sold in Michigan for Saturday night's one-point-three-billion-dollar top prize
The ticket missed the Powerball, which was 9. The Michigan Lottery says the ticket was sold on the internet and is good for one-million-dollars. One ticket in Oregon matched all five plus the Powerball for the fourth-largest Powerball jackpot in history. The last Powerball jackpot that was won was January 1 when a ticket sold in Michigan matched all the numbers for 842-million-dollars.

A Grand Rapids man has caught a huge steelhead
Gustavo Reyes caught the 35-inch long steelhead Wednesday morning, and it took about ten minutes to reel it in. The state record for a steelhead is 39-and-a-half-inches long, and that was caught in 1975 in Lake Michigan. Reyes was on the east shore of the river in roughly three-feet of water.

Two groups are suing the state over the shortened coyote hunting season.
The Michigan Natural Resources Commission voted to ban coyote hunting between April 16 and July 14 after it had been year-round since 2016. The Michigan United Conservation Clubs filed their lawsuit in Ingham County and the Michigan Trappers and Predator Callers sued the state in Mackinac County.

A dog missing in California since last summer turned up more than 2,000 miles away
The stray dog was picked up by animal control last week and ended up at Grosse Pointe Animal Adoption Society. It quickly discovered that the dog, named Mishka, had an identity chip implanted in her with information about her owner who lives in San Diego. The dog was reunited with its owner and the director of the animal welfare group believes the dog was stolen and sold which is how it ended up in Michigan.

A bill before the state House would give Michigan residents first dibs
Representative Cam Cavitt of Cheboygan introduced the bill as one-in-three campsites for the entire year were already booked by January 8. Cavitt says state residents deserve the first shot at the sites and the bill would give them a two-week head start before the reservation system opens to residents from anywhere else.

A mysterious carcass has washed on shore in Grand Haven.
Grand Haven resident Sheila Schmidt says she first thought it was a cow and posted pictures online. She thought it might have been a goat, and other people online believe it was a deer. Schmidt has called several local and state agencies for help identifying the animal.

Lansing police are putting out a warning that scammers are calling and texting
The scammers are asking people to withdraw money and put it into Bitcoin and send it to them. MSU Federal Credit Union says they are aware of an increase in text message scams and say they do not use texts to contact members and will never ask for a customer's PIN, access code, or other sensitive information to verify their identity.
