MZTV 1150: The Shocking Difference Between the Tabernacle System and Grace
In the Mosaic system humanity approached God with presents. In grace, God approaches humanity with a Present that cannot be denied. What contrast.

MZTV 1149: How Could a Dying Man Conquer Death?
It seems so counter-intuitive that a dying man could conquer death. Wouldn't such a One be considered, instead, a victim of death?
The difference between our Lord and every other man is that He became Sin (2 Corinthians 5:21). What is the effect of Sin? We need only look to the Garden of Eden. When Adam sinned, He brought mortality to the race. Thus, the result of sin is death. Because death is so closely associated with sin, I contend to you that not only did our Lord become Sin, but He also became Death, that is, the dying process covered Him (tormented Him) more than any other man.
In the law of leprosy (Leviticus 13), when the disease buds upon a man's flesh, that man is considered unclean and is separated from the community. When the leprosy buds to its extremity, however, and covers the ENTIRE man, then that man is declared by the priest to be CLEAN. How could this possibly be? Because the disease has exhausted itself and can do no more harm.
On the cross, our Lord became as the leprous man in that death assaulted Him and covered Him completely in a way that no human had ever experienced it. (God passed over the full sin-effect [death; Romans 3:25) in past generations because no human in history up to that point could bear the FULL effect of Sin, that is, the full terrors of mortality.) Satan unleashed every agony that death could hold upon Christ. Thus, subsequent to the attack upon Him, death could do no more. Satan bet everything on this. As long as Jesus Christ stayed dead, then Satan's plan to engage every weapon upon Him would have been successful. All of us would then die and stay dead. But we know what happened.
After three days, our Lord rose from the dead. Thus, not even EVERYTHING DEATH COULD DO, could hold Him in its grasp. When Jesus Christ rose from the dead, therefore, death could do no more. It had lost its sting. We still die, yes, but death holds no more terrors and no more sting because it exhausted its power upon the only Man able to bear it. And He did this FOR OUR SAKES.
Thus is demonstrated the righteousness of God, and the love of God.

MZTV 1148: Nothing Frightened Christ More
In the book of Romans, Paul spends 1:18 through 3:20 detailing the handicaps of humanity in ever attaining the righteousness of God. A corner is turned in 3:21 with the announcement of the solution. To demonstrate His love for creation, God commits His own Son to the death state, raising Him three days later, to conquer death once for all.

MZTV 1147: David Shocks Paul 1,000 Years Later
In the 32nd Psalm, David had no idea what he was saying when he wrote, "Happy the man to whom the Lord by no means shall be reckoning depravity." He had to have read it after he wrote it and said, "What the hell is THAT?" because there was no teaching in Israel, no thought that even entered the Jewish mind concerning sin not even being reckoned. The Israelite tabernacle system, instituted by God, DEALT with sin. Without the reckoning of sin, there would be no need for a propitiatory shelter.
God put that sentence on ice for 1,000 years. If you don't care for that analogy, you might want to think of mothballs. Paul finds that sentence 1,000 years later (thaws the ice, brings it up from the mothballs) and uses it as a springboard (and a witness) in his teaching on justification by faith.

MZTV 1146: How to Stay Free Without Offending Fellow Believers
Is there a fine line between those who would condemn you for doing things they imagine to be a sin and those who would, themselves, be sorrowed if they did what you did? No. The line is clear. And Paul draws it in Romans chapter 14. It is important to know the difference between these two types of people.

MZTV 1145: it's Easier to Please the Lord Than Your Aunt Mary
Paul says that whether we are living or dying, we live or die to the Lord (Romans 14:8)–and all things in-between. How much easier is it to please 1 rather than 101. The Lord is far more gracious than any human being we know, and He is the only One we really need to please.

Those who are overly-careful (scared, actually) about displeasing Christ, rarely walk in the glorious freedom obtained for them BY Christ. Those who gladly wander the corridors of spiritual and personal liberation please their Liberator, for they demonstrate, by their walk, that they grasp what He did and trust Him to love and keep them.

MZTV 1143: Just How Many Things ARE We Allowed to Do?
How astounding for an ex-Pharisee (Paul) to say in 1 Corinthians 10:23, "All is allowed me." Yes, he did add "but not all is expedient"—but still. The freedom we have in Christ is so pronounced and unusual that few are so bold as to explore and actually enjoy it. It's not for a lack of God's invitation, or of Paul's double use of the magic word: "For freedom Christ frees you" in Galatians 5:1. Not everyone is fearless enough to test the new territory, and to these two groups of people (the fearless and the careful) Paul addresses the truths of Romans chapter 14.

MZTV 1142: Some People Won't Eat Bacon?
Some people are more squeamish and careful than others about what they can and can't do "in the Lord." Paul tells us that the strong in faith ought not scorn the weak in faith, yet the weak in faith (these are the ones with all the qualms) ought not judge the strong. All is to be done in love. So here is how we ought to treat one another in the body of Christ, where there are both the strong and weak of faith.

MZTV 1138: "This Generation SHALL Not Pass Away"?
In Matthew 24:34, our Lord said that His generation would not pass away until all the signs preceding His return to Israel would be fulfilled. But unless one is crazy (that is, a Preterist), it is clear that these things have not happened yet. So what did Jesus mean by, "THIS generation shall not pass away?" Was He talking about another generation besides the one He was speaking to? Then how could He have said, "this"? Isn't it obvious to everyone what the word "this" means?
What is a generation anyway? Isn't it the general lifespan of a human being?
Are the crazy Preterists correct in saying that the kingdom of God came ALLEGORICALLY in 70 AD?
One thing all these expositors and hypothesizers have in common: they are all arguing about a mistranslation. That's right. Jesus never did say, "This generation SHALL not pass away." What He actually DID say will open up a magnificent secret concerning the kingdom of the heavens that few have seen.

MZTV 1136: "Tormented in Fire and Sulphur"
Many expositors assume that Revelation 14:11 (worshippers of the wild beast are tormented in fire and sulphur) is describing the lake of fire. But if the lake of fire is, to humans, the second death, why are these people being tormented? Ah. It's NOT the lake of fire. This trial is associated with one of the plagues of the Tribulation, namely, the 200 million supernatural horsemen breathing fire and sulphur who will kill one-third of humanity.

MZTV 1135: The Parable of the Ten Virgins and Why It's Not For Us
In Matthew 25, Jesus told a parable about ten virgins waiting for a bridegroom. In the parable, the Bridegroom is Christ and the virgins represent Israel. The parable is about an individual Israelite's readiness to greet his or her Messiah when the Messiah returns to set up the kingdom.
Shocking revelation from the parable: Half of the virgins are locked out of the wedding feast. Why? The have no oil in their lamps—oil being representative of the spirit.
Some members of the body of Christ, reading this parable, begin to fret about missing Christ's return. I've got great news for these folks: this parable does not apply to the body of Christ. Is there a verse in Paul's letters concerning the topic of readiness that DOES apply to us? Indeed. Are we, like Israel, required to be ready and waiting for our Lord's return? Watch this episode of MZTV and find out.

MZTV 1129: The Practicality of Death
Death is still an enemy, but it's also an ingenious way to: 1) end the suffering of mortals, 2) put people on hold without elevator music, 3) allow for a simultaneous resurrection for saints of all centuries, 4) comfort the living so that they don't have to wonder what is happening to their beloved or even where they are, and 5) make it seem TO THE CONSCIOUSNESS OF THE DECEASED that there has been no passage of time between the moment of death and the moment of resurrection. Hm. Not bad for an enemy like death.

MZTV 1127: Another Torpedo Pierces the Eternal Torment Battleship
In 2 Corinthians 4:18, if you're reading the King James Version, Paul seems to be comparing time with timelessness. The KJV reads here, "That which is seen is temporal, yet that which is not seen is eternal."
If "temporal" is the correct translation of the Greek word proskairon in the first clause, then "eternal" is appropriate in the second clause. But guess what? "Temporal" is a faulty translation. The right translation of proskairon in the first clause ("temporary") makes way for the right translation in the second clause ("eonian").
Who cares? Not only is this another grammatical fact piercing the hull of the eternal torment battleship, but understanding the proper translations here will comfort you as to the nature of the future eons you will inhabit.
