When Jesus walked this earth, He didn’t go around healing at will. He never performed a miracle just to demonstrate who He was. He only acted on the faith of those who pursued Him. Jesus was on His way to heal the daughter of Jairus. As always, the multitudes crowded around Him. It was almost impossible to get near Jesus. His popularity had spread far and wide. He was know for accomplishing many miracles, signs and wonders. But yet there was a woman who's persustence in seeking Jesus would heal her life. Jesus, fully aware of His God-given authority, takes on the role of a servant. “He rose from supper. He laid aside his outer garments, and taking a towel, tied it around his waist. Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him”. This humble act by Jesus is an example of servant leadership, a concept often discussed but rarely embodied to this extent. As we step into spring, it’s a great time to consider not just cleaning our homes, shops, motorhomes or trailers, but also time to rejuvenate our soul. In the same way that sunlight streams through open windows, revealing hidden dust and dirt, God’s light shines into the corners of our souls, inviting us to clear away what hinders us. To be renewed in the spirit is to allow God to reshape our thoughts, sweep away the old and embrace the new self that He saw in us from the beginning of time.
