What does the future hold? Guessing with data!
Today we're going to go through what forecasting is and why it's important for the supply chain.
Before we get to that, you should understand that it's extremely difficult to be accurate on a forecast because there are so many variables that you can't control for, so getting within 20% of the target is great.
I'll discuss how I've used forecasts to make sure I have enough capacity to meet my needs during high volume periods. I'll also dig in to what actually happens once you give someone a forecast.

What is Amazon Prime Day?
Ever wonder why businesses do sales in October? Well, it's all about shaping demand.
We're going to get really nerdy today as we discuss demand curves and when demand exceeds supply by looking at Amazon's Prime Day sales strategy.
I'll explain how businesses will use a pre-holiday sale to determine how much they're going to make during the holiday time, as well as explaining the somewhat elaborate ways they manipulate you into saving them money.
All fascinating stuff that you wont want to miss.

Supply Chain is a super power
First off, yes I know the camera angle shifts during the video. I didn't realize there was a problem until I was editing and I wasn't about to reshoot.
But we need to talk about how the supply chain can be a company's super power because with all of the different tactics available to get your stuff to the right place you can have a dramatic impact on a company's bottom line.
In the video I'll talk about three different methods of shipping from a manufacturer, each with drastically different implications on throughput, shipping cost, and your financials.
Knowing when and why to choose one over another is an important part of a supply chain professional's job.

What is Drop shipping?
Oh boy, you're in for a fun one again today!
Another fun little twist on a classic strategy made possible by technology and taking the supply chain out of the way, or really by making someone else do it for you.
I'll talk about what drop shipping is, how it works, how it can make you a lot of money, and ways that Amazon and Alibaba are making it easier than ever for overseas manufacturers to sell to domestic consumers.

Whose land is this land?
More strange things in the supply chain that make sense when you work with them, but really don't when you're not familiar with the shifting nature of...land.
Today I'm going to talk about Free Trade Zones, which are a fun nuance of the world, and really a great way to move things. Basically, they're what happens when a government says "sure, that spot over there is an international territory." Or, basically the geographic representation of Pitbull (Mr. Worldwide).
So join me down the strange, twisting, road of international shipping and the fun ways that we shift things up as we move around the world.
