Hearts & Memories - NOW STREAMING - Original by Linda Jean (ALL rights reserved)
Hearts & Memories was recorded in Nashville in 2000 and it was the first ever recording for Linda Jean of her original songs. It has been re-released for online streaming to celebrate the song itself, and how it paved the way for the rest of her career as a song writer and recording artist. “I send this song to all my loved ones that we’ve lost ...and to everyone else out there who is also missing someone. Sending you this very special song of mine with love from my heart.” ~ Linda Jean
Lyrics below
Hearts & Memories - by Linda Jean (ALL rights reserved)
Why does life have to hurt so much,
When we lose someone our lives have touched?
We must find the strength to carry on,
Cause in our hearts and memories they'll live on.
I had an uncle that we all looked up to,
He lived his life helping others he never knew.
We lost him one summer while he was still young,
But in our hearts and memories he lives on.
His courage and kindness, his laughter and his love
for everyone who knew him..little children, cats and dogs...
Are the gifts he left behind the morning he went away,
But in our hearts he's with us every day.
I've learned a lesson from loved ones I have lost,
To cherish every moment and everyone you love.
And that good things done for others can never be enough,
Cause in their hearts and memories we'll go on.
With our hearts and memories......we'll go on......
....oh....we'll go on....and on.....we'll go on.....

Written the day the truckers rolled eastward down the highway to speak up for freedom and liberty......i had no idea how depressed and actually kind of dead in my heart i had been feeling for such a long long time....just like so many other people around the entire world. The feeling of hope coming back to life lifted me up so much that i could not stop crying. To see them heading out.....such a great big journey for so many....and the salt of the earth kind of folks......heading out for us all. And to see all the families and people of all walks of life standing on overpasses and along the highway in the bitter bitter Canadian cold waving flags, cheering, crying.....just like me, feeling hope again. And most importantly of all....connecting us all in what we were going through....showing us we were so very much NOT alone.....millions of us everywhere feeling the same. This song erupted from my heart that day as i was about to brave the cold to do some chores....i had to stop and sit down with a guitar in all my winter apparel to write this down.....the word FREEDOM erupting from my heart through my vocals with such joy! I ditched the winter clothes and threw this on and videoed it right on the spot.....so i could do my little part such as it is in cheering them on and thanking them....i still and always will thank them with every fibre of my being.....the Canadian Truckers, our American brothers and sisters, and freedom fighters all over the world.....big BIG love, respect, and endless gratitude from me.....
Canadian Truckers - written by Linda Jean (all rights reserved)
If you see 18 wheels and a lot of heavy metal
Rollin down the highway today,
It ain't just a trucker hauling goods to you,
They're fighting for our freedoms today.
Yeah freedom oh FREEDOM, rollin down the highway today!
Oh FREEDOM, oh freedom...burnin down the highway your way!
No our truckers won't stop till they've saved the day,
Canadian truckers, Canadian truckers are leading the way!
Two small weeks to flatten the curve
Has turned into two years of hell.
Silenced and ignored, and freedoms revoked
In the name of keeping us well?
Well the doctors can't practice,
And the churches can't preach,
And the justice system's long since fell.
No the world can't take another single minute,
So our truckers are dinging the bell!
Yeah freedom oh FREEDOM, rollin down the highway today!
Oh FREEDOM, oh freedom...burnin down the highway your way!
No our truckers won't stop till they've saved the day,
Canadian truckers, Canadian truckers are leading the way!
Where oh where did our Canada go...
And the rest of the whole world too?
Our Canadian truckers, on their wings of rubber,
Are bringing this message to you....
If you stand your ground, and we stand with each other,
There is nothing that we cannot do,
And our country's not lost because it's built on us....
We're Canadian, STRONG and TRUE!!
Yeah freedom oh FREEDOM, rollin down the highway today!
Oh FREEDOM, oh freedom...burnin down the highway your way!
No our truckers won't stop till they've saved the day,
Canadian truckers, Canadian truckers are leading the way!

Studio Session for The Mud Hole - original by Linda Jean (all rights reserved)
......Yeeeeee haaaawwww!!! Bass and lead guitar are direct in so you won't hear them and nothing mixed obviously....this was the first go through for everyone to learn the song and develop their parts in the live off the floor recording session for one of the songs which will be on my upcoming album "Blacktop Rollin'". So what you are hearing is drums and vocals and fiddle chops as we were going through mics into the board. But i thought you'd enjoy seeing how we did it and the awesome studio! CANNOT WAIT until you hear this song fully mixed and mastered....if this doesn't get you dancing i don't know what will!! I hope you enjoy this sneak a peek at one of my humble little songs being 'born'. This is also another HUGE step forward in my healing from traumatic brain injury....the delay in my hand was kept at bay and i played my own acoustic parts on the recordings strong and steady.....and although i'm massively overloaded now...i had more stamina for my issues with overload ie, conversation, light, noise, motion, emotion...... i did it!!!!! YAY!!!!! so for anyone following me with invisible injury or illness.....there IS hope.....drive and determination, love and support, and counting all your blessings each and every day definitely help!

What Would Dolly Say? - original written and performed by Linda Jean (all rights reserved)
*Lyrics below* As i rebuild my channel there are a few old videos that were much liked by friends to my channel....so here is another! This song is always for my mum and my dad who are my life long inspirations......but also as i went through the hardest years of Traumatic Brain Injury and was using my instruments as therapy to get my hand reconnecting to my brain and all the other wonderful issues i dealt with, and still do to an extent, I also turned to one of my musical heroes. Also....in my healing if i start to sink into that dark place i always remember things could be so much worse, and so many out there have to deal with devastating things every day, so i always pick myself up and start counting my blessings and soon I realize things are never so bad when you have life, love, kindness, laughter and blessings in your life. So this song is about that and also the realization that the whole world seems to be suffering from injury also and how if we all filled it with love and kindness and went back to a truer simpler way of being, much like how Dolly grew up and so many of us, we could heal ourselves, each other, and the whole planet! I like to think and hope we are on our way to doing just that! It only takes each of us in our own little realm doing all we can to raise the energy! And so with all of that said.....i love each and every one of you.....and i hope you like my song! Oh! And a little snippet of it was included in a compilation birthday wish a broadcast station right there in Dolly's neck of the woods sent to her with tons of people of all ages from the area sending her love and birthday messages....it was so wonderful to be a part of that and i met my wonderful friends Cami and Madison because of that...Madison is a HUGE Dolly fan and she sings with me on a different video on my channel where we cover God Bless the Broken Road together! I love my little "Dolly friend"! And of course.....i love Dolly!
What Would Dolly Say? - by Linda Jean (all rights reserved)
As a small girl i had the biggest dream,
And impossible as it always seemed,
It always stayed there right in my heart,
To sing my songs.
It was country from the start.
So I learned guitar and before too long
I was singing and playing my very own songs.
It all started by singing in the back of the car,
To my Dad's favorite songs
By the greatest country stars.
Her heart and music, helped shape my life.
A little bit of Dolly makes everything right.
In this world gone crazy let's look back in time,
If we all learned from Dolly...
Everything would be fine.
So I joined a band and played far and wide,
For 16 years it lit up my life,
Till one split second one summer day,
An accident happened
And stole my dream away.
And for a year i couldn't even play,
Tried to find the joys to hold back the pain.
On the days when i woke up feeling totally blue
I'd think to myself...
What would Dolly do?
Her heart and music, helped shape my life.
A little bit of Dolly makes everything right.
In this world gone crazy let's look back in time,
If we all learned from Dolly...
Everything would be fine.
And so I heal each and every day,
Put some makeup on grab a guitar and play.
Some days are hard and if I lose my way
I think to myself..
What would Dolly Say?
I think about the world and how it needs to heal,
It's so out of focus from the things that are real.
If we turned back the clock to a simpler way...
Yes...
What would Dolly say?
Her heart and music, helped shape our lives.
A little bit of Dolly makes everything right.
In this world gone crazy let's look back in time,
If we all learned from Dolly...
Everything would be fine.
Yodellay hee yodelay hee hoo, lay hee yodelay hee hee
With this world gone crazy, we just need to be kind.
Yodellay hee yodelay hee hoo, yodalidal oda lidal layhee hee
If we shared more kindness, everything would be fine.
If we all learned from Dolly....
If we all learned from Dolly....
If we all learned from Dolly.........
Everything would be fine.

Fields of Gold - original song written & performed by Linda Jean (all rights reserved)
(Lyrics below) This song is for my mum. It's a very special song...one of those that seems to have come through me from up above.....and my mum is the most special person in the world to me.
Fields of Gold
Waking up on the right side of the soil is always good,
Waking up to be thankful and doing the things we should.
From the sun rising and shining, to the moon and stars above,
Counting each and every blessing, and living your days with love.
Fields of gold and skies of blue, stretch out in front of you,
Like the dreams you've cherished all your whole life through.
Put one foot in front of the other, it's all there to discover.
Fields of gold and skies of blue, you can make your dreams come true.
There'll be times the sky clouds over, take each moment one by one,
Do the very best you can, and keep looking for that sun.
With each cloud and raging storm, comes a bright new shiny day,
Rainbows and silver linings and new growth from every rain.
Fields of gold and skies of blue, stretch out in front of you,
Like the dreams you've cherished all your whole life through.
Put one foot in front of the other, it's all there to discover.
Fields of gold and skies of blue, you can make your dreams come true.
Now no matter what each day brings just remember you are loved,
And through it all you're not alone, just look to the heavens above.
By sharing love and showing kindness, to yourself you will be true,
And the light you shine on those you meet will shine right back on you.
Fields of gold and skies of blue, stretch out in front of you,
Like the dreams you've cherished all your whole life through.
Put one foot in front of the other, it's all there to discover.
Fields of gold and skies of blue, you can make your dreams come true.
Fields of gold and skies of blue, stretch out in front of you,
Like the dreams you've cherished all your whole life through.
Put one foot in front of the other, it's all there to discover.
Fields of gold and skies of blue, you can make your dreams come true.
Fields of gold and skies of blue, you can make your dreams come true.

The Farmers Wife Song - original by Linda Jean (all rights reserved)
Lyrics below……..Just a fun little song for the wives of farmers...bless them! Our heroes...farming families everywhere world wide!
The Farmers Wife Song - original song by Linda Jean (all rights reserved)
His tractor’s all he can see, that’s why he always forgets me,
And I wait up every night for time with him.
And when daylight breaks I don’t see his face
Because he’s up at dawn the whole year long,
So I sing my farmers wife song.
To be a farmers wife sounds like a life idyllic and content,
Out there in the open air, working with your man.
But the shame of it all, it’s not quite a ball,
When you sadly find out the truth.
The farming is his life, and your just his wife,
And he don’t spend time with you.
His tractor’s all he can see, that’s why he always forgets me,
And I wait up every night for time with him.
And when daylight breaks I don’t see his face
Because he’s up at dawn the whole year long,
So I sing my farmers wife song.
And when Winter comes and the field work's done,
You're hoping for a cozy time.
But then the cows need feeding, and troughs unfreezing
And then it's calving time.
And that cozy time was just a lie, you created in your head,
'Cause through the snowing and blowing, and forty belowing
Winter chores could see you dead!
His tractor’s all he can see, that’s why he always forgets me,
And I wait up every night for time with him.
And when daylight breaks I don’t see his face
Because he’s up at dawn the whole year long,
So I sing my farmers wife song.
Then Winter ends it's Summertime, those days should be sublime.
And you're making plans to spend time with you man,
But yet again....it's tractor time.
But you can see him from that old porch swing and you realize one thing,
It's not how you'd planned but he's quite a man,
And you're proud to wear his ring!
Farming is his whole life, that's why he forgets his own wife,
And I wait up every night, always the same damn thing!
But none of that matters because i'd rather
Be his farmers wife, love him all my life, and live happily ever after.
Be his farmers wife, love him all my life, and live happily every after.
....me and him and his tractor......

Bling Bling - Original Song Written & Performed by Linda Jean
(Lyrics below) This song is for all the ladies out there who tend to care for everyone else and forget about themselves .....don't save your prettiest things for a special occasion or wait till everyone else is taken care of to take care of you!! It's also for those of us who struggle with invisible injury/illness and don't get to go out and celebrate much as we used to. ....every single day in the life of beautiful you is special and should be celebrated! Enjoy each day to the absolute fullest and know that you are beautiful, important, loved and very special because you are more than worth it!! Big blingy love to you all from me!!
Bling Bling - by Linda Jean (ALL rights reserved)
To be a girl is everything that love and joy, and heart can bring.
But when you're down, alone, just tired or feeling blue,
Put on a smile 'cause that's our style,
While it might lift us up for a while...
To give the blues a fling....bling bling is the thing!
You can never have enough sparkle in the eyes of a girl,
And to make things that much brighter in our own little world,
Put on some heels, pretty makeup, loads of glitter and some curls....
To give the blues a fling....bling bling is the thing!
Age is nothing to the heart, it's just a number... finish to start,
When the beauty of your soul comes shining through!
But if your body's feeling tired, and you long to be inspired...
Give your spirits wing....bling bling is the thing!
You can never have enough sparkle in the eyes of a girl,
And to make things that much brighter in our own little world,
Put on some heels, pretty makeup, loads of glitter and some curls....
To give your spirits wing....bling bling is the thing!
Out on the town or just at home, with lots of friends or simply alone,
Put on those things you save for best and let 'em shine!
Don't hesitate 'cause now's the time, make every day so sweet and sublime!
To let each day sing....bling bling is the thing!
You can never have enough sparkle in the eyes of a girl,
And to make things that much brighter in our own little world,
Put on some heels, pretty makeup, loads of glitter and some curls....
To let each day sing....bling bling is the thing!
You can never have enough sparkle in the eyes of a girl,
And to make things that much brighter in our own little world,
Put on some heels, pretty makeup, loads of glitter and some curls....
To let each day sing....bling bling is the thing.......
....and for the joy it brings bling bling is the thing!
.......Oh yeah........

Somewhere Over the Rainbow - cover performed live by Linda Jean
Who doesn't know and love this song from the wonderful movie and Judy Garland...... But ....in all these years struggling to heal from brain injury....this song means a great deal more to me on a personal level. Stroke like symptoms with a delay to my right hand had it extremely difficult and frustrating to play anything the first year....then my therapist had me tapping a table to a metronome and blinking a laser pointer to try and get the hand and eye coordination better.....well! That was boring so i asked if i could use my instruments instead....and that is what i did! I could only try one to three songs initially and then rest two to four weeks before trying again.....hard to believe something that was my passion and like breathing was so hard and exhausting! But i tried new instruments and songs i'd never tried before....and when i tried this song....i wept afterwards. This song spoke to what i was going through....and now what i still go through......this song became a part of me as all great and magnificently written pieces do! They reach out and touch something in each of us and connect us in a common way for what we go through....they give us words for feelings......they give our emotions a place to be set free. I'm blessed that certain parts of my injury helped me learn....helped me grow......helped me see all the glorious blessings i truly have all around me. Being able to sit here and play for people this far in to my struggle and share music with my community....well....this right here as you watch it....is one of my rainbows i dreamed about flying over but never thought possible. for anyone struggling.....always remember.....so many blessings .....no matter what...... always rainbows after ever storm in life. Hang in there.....

Alberta Glory - original written & performed by Linda Jean (all rights reserved)
Alberta Glory - by Linda Jean (all rights reserved)
Can you hear the sound that's calling
From the mountains through the plains?
Can you feel it call for glory?
Can you hear it calling out your name?
Through the darkness there is always light,
A bright new morning with the darkest night.
And as we face the fears alone
Something greater calls us home.
We will stand up and be counted,
We will stand up for liberty!
Oh Albertans stand together
To build a future strong and free!
And when we reach our destiny,
Friends and neighbors and community,
And in Alberta all the world shall see
Freedom for all, prosperity and peace!
We will stand up and be counted,
We will stand up for liberty!
We will stand together
To build Alberta strong and free!
Yes we will stand up and be counted,
We will stand up for liberty!
Oh Albertans stand together
To build a future strong and free!
Oh Albertans stand together
To build a future strong and free...
Ya to build a future strong and free....
To build Alberta strong and free!!
Oh Alberta......

God Bless the Broken Road - Rascal Flatts cover by Linda Jean and Madison
I met this dear lil country singin gal when we both had a spot singing on a Happy Birthday video for Dolly Parton created by WBIR in Knoxville, Tennessee. Her grandma and me became friends and subsequently me and Madison! She knew i had a brain injury and she decided all on her own one day to record herself singing this song she chose just for me....and to send it to me! She wouldn't even let her Grandma hear it until I had from what i recall. Well!! I cried and cried....such a beautiful thoughtful gesture from one so young with a heart as pure as her lovely voice. So....i decided to do this video back for her with me singing a duet with her. This made me beyond happy back then....and now remembering it from 2021....i feel the same joy and i feel so very very blessed to have such a beautiful kind friend in the world. Love you Madison! xxxx

Swingin' - John Anderson cover by Linda Jean & Gloria Kae
What a fun song to cover! I hope you like our version of this great John Anderson hit!!!
Here is some information about it from Wikipedia.
"Swingin'" is a song co-written and recorded by American country music singer John Anderson. It was released in January 1983 as the second single from his album Wild & Blue. The song was the second of five number one singles in Anderson's career, spending one week at the top of the Hot Country Songs charts. It also received a gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America, and received a Single of the Year award from the Country Music Association.[1] Anderson re-recorded the song for his 1994 album Country 'til I Die on BNA Records.[2] This re-recording served as the b-side to the album's title track, which was also the first single from it.[1] In addition to LeAnn Rimes, Chris Young performed an acoustic cover of "Swingin'" for his 2010 EP Voices.

How Do You Find Christmas? - original written & performed by Linda Jean (all rights reserved)
This is for everyone who is missing a loved one at Christmas.....i wrote this Christmas of 2019, three months after losing my dad....my hero.
How Do You Find Christmas?
By Linda Jean
Time has a funny way of hanging for a while,
Nothing changes very much when you are still a child.
And everything stays just the same with every passing year,
And Christmas time is such a joy when family are near.
So how do you find Christmas in your heart,
When you've lost the ones that meant the most
And taught you from the start,
The meaning of love, of tradition and of home?
Yes, how do you find Christmas on your own?
Mum would bake us Christmas treats
And Dad would hang the lights,
Both were done with so much love so it all would be just right.
And we'd decorate the living room so festively at night,
Singing all our favorite Christmas songs with joy and great delight!
And on Christmas day we'd open gifts around the Christmas tree,
My mom, my dad and brother, the family dog and me.
And as the years had passed us by, and after we had grown,
For these precious times at Christmas we'd always make it home.
So how do you find Christmas in your heart,
When you've lost the ones that meant the most
And taught you from the start,
The meaning of love, of tradition and of home?
Yes, how do you find Christmas on your own?
There comes a time in all our lives when everything must change,
Those times of love and laughter can now cause so much pain.
But the blessings of those times we've had
And the loved ones who are gone,
Will always be a part of us and at Christmas they'll live on.
So that is how you find Christmas in your heart,
When you've lost the ones that meant the most
And taught you from the start,
The meaning of love, of tradition and of home?
They will always be a part of us
And at Christmas they'll live on.
Yes, that is how you find Christmas in your heart,
When you've lost the ones that meant the most
And taught you from the start,
The meaning of love, of tradition and of home?
They are in our hearts at Christmas
And each day all year long.
They are in our hearts at Christmas,
And through us ....they'll live on.
At Christmas......

Patent Mary Janes - by Linda Jean (all rights reserved)
Christmas Eve was so magical, it was the best night of the year.
We'd get dressed up to go visiting all the loved ones held so dear.
To see their laughter and their joy,
Meant more to me than any toy.
And no night has ever made me feel the same,
As those Christmas Eves in my patent Mary Janes.
We'd head cross town, Dad at the wheel, Christmas songs on the radio.
Pretty lights on buildings and the trees made the world seem all aglow.
And when we'd get to Granddad's house, Aunts and Uncles and my Dad,
Would chatter on so merrily of all the good times they'd all had.
And the small ceramic Christmas tree, with it's little Christmas lights,
Lit up the corner of the room as I listened with delight.
Then too soon the giant wrist watch on the wall would let us know,
Merry Christmases and goodbyes, and we'd head out in the snow.
Our next stop was Mum's parents house, such a cozy little home.
So full of joy, so snug and bright, the most love I've ever known.
The little Santa and his sleigh, and the funny Christmas tree!
Granddad sure knew how to pick 'em...so sparse it was almost free!
And Nanny'd trick the neighbor men underneath the mistletoe,
While Uncle Mal would make us laugh, he always loved to joke.
Then down the road we'd go, all of us, so happily!
To our final Christmas party, with friends more like family.
So many boots were on the landing as we made our way within.
Our shoes would come out of Mum's bag and we'd put them on again.
Granddad found a chair by the fire, coats on the bed added to the mound,
My little heart swelled to be there again, Christmas love was all around.
As we'd move from room to room we'd visit with them all,
A circle of chairs in the living room and a cuckoo clock on the wall.
And when the cuckoo clock struck twelve all the voices sang with joy,
For Nanny shared her birthday with Mary's baby boy!
So sad to have to say goodbye and then be on our way,
But as we'd climb the long and highest road we'd look for Santa's sleigh.
For the radio announcer said they'd spotted something in flight,
Could it be Rudolph's bright red nose leading Santa through the night?
"Now when we get home hurry off to bed"..Mum and Dad would say,
"And fall asleep as fast as you can, yes, Santa's on his way!"
Well now those times are gone, and so many from that night,
But the memories of joy and love, in my mind are still so bright.
And each Christmas Eve in my heart....
I'm with them again.....
In my patent....
Mary Janes......

What Would Dolly Say? - by Linda Jean

Written by Linda Jean and performed by Linda Jean and Gloria Kae
My goodness i had fun writing this song!!! And even more fun playing it with my amazingly talented friend Gloria! What a reunion....16 years since we last shared a stage and 3 years since the last time i'd had the pleasure of seeing her.
I hope you love this song....i must say....it's the most fun song i've ever written and if it's not too bold to say....i love it!! Looking forward to putting it on my upcoming "If You Love Trucks" album.....have to apply for some grants first so it will take a bit....but i'll be sure to let you all know when i'm recording!
Have a great day.....and watch out for those grizzly bears! ha ha!
Love from me to you x
The Mud Hole - by Linda Jean (all rights reserved)
He picked me up in his pickup truck and he picked me up
And put me in the passengers seat.
He hopped in beside me into the drivers seat,
And he revved his big ol engine for me.
We went mud boggin out in the country,
His truck got as stuck as could be.
It made me scream, I was wearin good jeans!
And he got us stuck in the mud hole.
He took me out, oh he took me out,
He took me out to the mud hole.
He took me out and it made me shout,
Ya he took me out to the mud hole.
He winched us out of the mud hole with the help of a tree,
And he got real muddy for me.
Then in the box of the truck we danced so star struck
to the shine of the stars in the mud hole.
He took me out, oh he took me out,
He took me out to the mud hole.
He took me out and he twirled me about,
Ya he took me out to the mud hole.
Before we retired we lit us a fire,
We had a camp fire by the mud hole.
We roasted weenie....he was soaked to his knees,
And we sang round the fire by the mud hole.
Then we fell asleep out in the open air,
We fell asleep by the mud hole.
We woke to a sound like a grizzly bear,
And we got the hell out of there!
He took me out, oh he took me out,
He took me out to the mud hole.
He took me out and the grizzly made me shout,
And he took me home from the mud hole.
He took me out, oh he took me out,
He took me out to the mud hole.
He took me out and the grizzly made me shout,
And he took me home from the mud hole.
And he took me home from the mud hole.
Ya he took me out......to the mud hole.

Blacktop Rollin' - by Linda Jean....for Willie, 17 years of unconditional love
Written by Linda Jean and performed by Linda Jean and Gloria Kae
I was writing songs for an upcoming album about my love of trucks and hitting the road... when I lost my best friend of 17 years. Little Willie was the light of my life....my soul dog....three years ago we lost dad and he helped us all through that most horrific time....and he was always right there every time i cried, to cuddle me and lick the tears away. A small little body with the biggest character and deeply loving soul has left the biggest hole in my house and my heart. So when he passed... i was thinking of this song I had begun....i had written the chorus already....but knew i was going to write the verses about two best friends enjoying a day exploring and sharing friendship out on the road, and the miracle and gift of true friendship.....it hit me.....there is no greater best friend in our lives quite comparable to our dog Every second of every day there they are.. loving us, faults and all, with every fiber of their beautiful soul and being...their lives and love completely given to us and ever present, every second of every day we are blessed to have them in our lives. And so I wrote this and dedicate it to Willie. The wonderful souls at the memorial centre even played it for Willie on my behalf when they cremated him. I love you Willie...with every fiber of my being and always will....until we meet again..... and so, here it is...for Willie and for anyone else out there that has lost their very best friend.....with so much love...from my heart and soul.

Blacktop Rollin' - by Linda Jean.....for Willie
Blacktop Rollin', don't know where we're going
When we hit the road in my old pickup truck.
Summer greens and yellows roll past the open window,
times like this make me glad to be alive...
On our blacktop ride.
When I awoke this morning, and opened up the window
The summer sky was such a brilliant blue.
I looked at you and touched your face, and kissed your sleepy head,
and said come on there's something we should do.
Packed us a lunch, a treat or two, and said let's hit the road.
You ran to the door and wagged your tail as if to say let's go!
We hopped in the truck so happily, together for our drive
To enjoy the day and see some sights,
Best friends....side by side.
And of all the people on this earth, there's no one else like you.
We spend each day together, unconditional love true.
And though i'm a girl and you're a dog, you're so very much like me...
Devoted to the ones we love and happiest....just being happy.
Blacktop rollin', don't know where we're going
When we hit the road, in my old pickup truck.
Summer greens and yellows roll past the open window,
Times like this make me glad to be alive...
On our blacktop ride....
And when we shall be parted, and our time on earth is through,
I hope some day we reunite....in the heavens i'll find you.
Just catching stars and riding rainbows together for all time,
A many colored blacktop road in heaven we shall ride.
Blacktop rollin', don't know where we're going
When we hit the road in my old pickup truck.
Summer greens and yellows roll past the open window,
Times like this make me glad to be alive.....
Blacktop rollin', don't know where we're going
When we hit the road in my old pickup truck.
Summer greens and yellows roll past the open window,
Times like this make me glad to be alive.....
Times like this make me glad to be alive......
On our blacktop ride.
Blacktop rollin.....don't know where we're goin....
And it doesn't even matter.....because.....
I'm with you.

Write It Forward - by Linda Jean (all rights reserved)
Very interesting story.....a week before going home to see my mom and brother for the first time in three years since dad died....i had a dream that someone was singing a song in a recording studio.....a big wonderful male country voice......i woke up went to the loo and found a piece of cardboard from a new ball cap and a pen and wrote the first lines of the chorus from my memory of the dream. Tried to go back to sleep but the lines of the song kept coming so i was up and down to write them out until finally i gave up on sleep and got up and wrote the whole song. When i got home it became apparent this song was for the three of us.....so on my last day we went to this place as it was Dad's favorite spot and me and my brother decided i needed to sing and play it there. So....here is the video he took from that day. Whatever your story......i hope this song helps you to not look back so much....and start looking forward at all the new experiences and things to look forward for all your days to come. With love....from me to you.
Write It Forward - by Linda Jean, Aug 2022
I was sitting by the river (ocean), watching time flow past.
Thinking of the ones who've loved me, and all of those who've passed.
And I was thinking of my own life, and all the things i haven't done.
And the ones that i have, and all the things that had gone wrong.
Write it forward from the past
Let it go, don't let things last.
Write a song, sing it out,
Sing it strong and sing it loud.
For today is here don't hesitate,
With every breath it's not too late...
To let it go.
Five long years have slowly passed
Since my thoughts fell to the ground.
While i've been asleep the world's moved on
And there's some things that I have found.
A life well lived is simple,
Count your blessings every day,
And be kind and love with all your heart,
And toss your pain away.
Write it forward from the past
Let it go don't let things last.
Write a song, sing it out,
Sing it strong and sing it loud.
For today is here don't hesitate,
With every breath it's not too late....
To let it go...
So many things still left to do,
So many things still left to see.
This world can leave us without wings
And keep us from our dreams.
And like those who've gone before us,
Life's so quick it's but a song,
But it's here to live in joy and love
Every day until it's gone.
Write it forward, from the past,
Let it go don't let things last.
Write a song, sing it out,
Sing it strong and sing it loud.
For today is here, don't hesitate,
With every breath it's not too late......
To let it go....

Canadian Truckers - Written and performed by Linda Jean (all rights reserved)
Like so many of us in the world.....that lengthy and ever present feeling of hopelessness, fear, worry, anxiety and being completely alone was joyfully and almost painfully relieved when I saw our glorious truckers rolling down the highway to Ottawa January 2022.....so much so i sobbed for hours and then i danced for joy and then the word FREEDOM erupted from the very core of my being in song...over and over again! And suddenly this song just fell out of all of that emotion and joy....quickest song i've ever written and written from the feeling of hope, joy, relief, love and almost coming to life again! Dedicated with love, respect and many many thanks to all of our freedom fighting heros! Oh...p.s......i'm working on new songs......i'm hoping to be able to record this song on an album of truck songs in the not too distant future....just about to apply for some grants actually!! So .....i will announce when it happens but look forward to my upcoming album titled..... "If You Like Trucks...."

Brain Cell - Written and performed by Linda Jean
Stemming from a poem i wrote early in my struggle with moderate brain injury, a year later it was turned into a song.....and years after that it has been recorded and now i send it out to the world in the hopes others with invisible injury, illness or other issues within may find some comfort in it ....to give words to how they feel or to let them know they are definitely not alone. I send you my best wishes and my love.....connect with others through support groups that know how you feel....that was the biggest, most helpful thing to me in my struggle I am even still living through.
