Common point of failure on a laptop is the power button
On any laptop you will have a power button. That power button sits on top of a mechanical switch which turns on your laptop. If you use your laptop a lot, the switch wears out. Some power buttons are easier than others to replace.
On this lenovo t460 laptop, you can configure it in the bios to switch on when you plug it in. This is also one of the easier ones to replace a power button on. Some laptops require taking the entire laptop apart.

Does heat cause a computer to act funny?
In a large scale data center that supports social media or a cloud account, heat is bad. Heat is really really bad and you need redundant hvac equipment to keep everything cool.

Why would you pay a subscription fee?
Why would you pay a subscription fee to apple for Icloud? I cloud recently is now offering Icloud+ where everything you hold sacred can be kept online for a monthly fee.
If you choose their top tier pan you are paying 720 bucks a year.

Why your laptop suddenly doesn't work
In this video I will do my best to explain what goes on when you turn your laptop on and off. The common reason why a laptop doesn't work anymore is due to the resistors in the charging and power circuits inside a laptop. If you are the type who leaves your laptop in sleep mode that will also shorten the lifespan in your laptop. Just switch it completely off and the reason why you want to do this is because your laptop is still discharging while asleep which causes resistor failure over time.

How to change out a heat sink on an AM3+ motherboard (Socket 942)
I am doing maintenance on my wifes desktop in this video and I am changing the stock heat sink from the smaller heat sinks that come with older era AMD processors to a larger stock AMD heat sink.
Bulldozer, zambezi, pile driver era AMD processors will dial it back in TDP if they exceed a temperature threshold. A larger heatsink aside from liquid cooling will fix the issue.

A while ago I was poor
A while ago I was poor and couldn't afford the internet so I improvised. I was so poor a bicycle was a real nice thing to have and I was doing alright at 10 bucks a day collecting pop cans.
But when I was poor that's when I decided to learn linux and really dive into fixing computers.
This is one of the better long distance usb network adapters you can buy on amazon. If you can find a metal coffee can or a metal pipe with one end closed you can make your own wifi telescope and extend the reach of this usb network adapter to 1.5 miles by focusing the signal to a singular point.

The cloud is expected to get bigger. Is this good or bad?
Your average end user doesn't maintain it but uploads it without thinking about what happens long term.
The biggest energy consuming machine that the world has invented is the internet. Since 1969 it has ran 24 hours a day. Do you run your car 24 hours a day?

Do you use a hologram keyboard?
Do you use a wireless keyboard?
In my house I have a computer attached to my living room tv for streaming. It's a single function computer and I don't need it for much else.
It just works and sometimes I forget to charge the keyboard so I use a software program called nomachine.

How do I get on THE ANTICLOUD when it's not attached to the internet?
I'm gonna walk you through the process. I have my server attached to a router without web access. I physically have to walk to my server to do what I need to do. Or I can access it through my TP link wifi extender.

Why your intel era macbook may not start.
Is it a good idea to put your computer to sleep? Components inside a computer are rated for so many hours before they stop working. Then your computer stops working when you try to restart it.
Some people will just say screw it and buy a new one. Some will seek out geeks like myself to attempt to fix it.

This hard drive has issues
A typical hard drive has a rotating disc, those rotating discs are spun by an electric motor. The motor has bearings and then bearings wear out.
When a hard drive is built it typically is ran for so many hours before it is packaged. This is the quality assurance portion of manufacturing. The issue with this hard drive is when the motor heats up due to normal operation, it expands which causes the discs to shift out of position. You can tell that they are out of position by the read write arm getting stuck on the disc and grinding against the disc.
This is pretty common with western digital blue 4 terabyte hard drives but it can happen to any hard drive.

Changing a power supply in a lenovo thinkstation p700
My office computer uses two xeon e5 v3 2620 processors. I was unable to run them comfortably at their full potential due to the power supply that was in the computer being 495 watts.
I found a used scratch and dent one on ebay and it will suit my needs.
Lenovo thinkstation p series desktops have interchangeable power supplies with the exception of the p 900 series power supply. That one looks more like a book with a handle on it.

Can you turn any system into your own personal cloud?
Yes, anything is possible. Basically all you need is a computer and a bunch of hard drives attached. The rest is the software needed to make it work.
Many would argue that they have their own cloud on the internet. Their own cloud is hosted and managed by someone they will never meet.
In a sense it's not their own.
I have my own in my basement. Do you want your own cloud in your residence? Do you wanna know how to maintain it? It's easy.

1 email equals 10 watts
1 email is 10 watts. Every 10 minutes you have 10 million emails being sent in an hour. 60 million emails at 10 watts each.
If the internet were a navy destroyer which runs on fuel oil, 1 hour equals 1000 gallons to go 40 feet. If the web ran on the same fuel oil you would need 35,000 drums of fuel oil to make that happen.

Can you attach external storage to a phone?
To answer this question yes, yes you can but it depends on the external storage. I am using a sandisk portable ssd that is NVME. Very low power and has the connectivity built into the ssd. If you were to use a flash drive you would need an adapter to make your mobile device recognize that a flash drive is attached to it.
But it is possible.
Say you take a ton of pictures and you back them up on google. You are paying a subscription fee for them to keep you alive on the internet. Depending on the storage you purchase it can get expensive.
Say you had 10 terabytes of pictures, google would charge you a thousand bucks a year to keep you alive online.
At the time of purchase I paid 129 for this sandisk drive. If I run out of space I buy another.

Lenovo thinkstation p700
This showed up today, this will be my new office workstation computer.
Computers like this were over designed and over built for one purpose... getting stuff done!
Twin xeon 2620 e5 v3 processors, 1 nvidia quadro K2000 gpu 1 250 gig boot drive and 1 two terabyte scratch drive.
I removed the two terabyte scratch drive and replaced it with another 250 gig ssd. I also added more front IO with four more usb data/charging ports and 4 ports for device charging.
Maybe later on down the road Ill nab a 650 watt or a 850 watt psu for the right price.
As it sits it's a case IH farm tractor in computer form.
