The Melody Boys Quartet - Closer To Thee (1963 MB-100)
The Melody Boys are: Dennis Piety, first tenor, also the emcee of the group; Keith May is the talented lead; Gerrith May, the baritone; and Jerry Wright the bass. The rich resonant bass, the warm full baritone, the versatile lead, and the high clear tenor blend so well for the close harmony that is enjoyed by every audience, and can now be enjoyed in your home.
The Melody Boys have been singing together for two years. They travel many miles, in all kinds of weather, singing praises and pointing souls to Christ, making life easier for those burdened with the cares of life, and doing the work they are so talented in.
These are songs of praise and hope, as can be seen from the titles. These are not gloomy musings, nor prophecies of doom; they are actually affirmative statements of confidence that is needed in these trying days. These are songs that will grow sweeter through the ages, and some perhaps will be the anthems of heaven.
The Melody Boys Quartet sincerely hope happiness will be spread abroad in the hearts of all who hear these songs that have been so carefully selected for this “Closer To Thee” album. These songs were chosen for the great message contained in each, as well as the beautiful melody and harmony. The Melody Boys, who are all Christians, sincerely hope these songs of faith, prayer, and anticipation, will cause the lost to seek Christ, the discouraged to renew their hope, and the faithful to have a greater desire to make heaven their home.
This “Closer To Thee” album is respectfully dedicated to all who enjoy gospel songs for the message and sweet harmony found in no other kind of songs. They would like to meet all of you personally, but if this is not possible, their prayer is that we may all live in the way Christ has told us, so we can all sing together in glory.
