Meanwhile, Russia's defence ministry says its troops have now captured the southern city of Kherson.
The city's mayor says the city is still under Ukrainian control, but local authorities say Kherson is completely surrounded.

Russian missiles and rockets have hit the cultural heart of the city, where an opera house, concert hall and government offices were struck in Freedom Square.
Russia has previously denied targeting residential areas, but the International Criminal Court - which examines war crimes - is looking to open an investigation.

Standing ovation for Ukrainian president at EU Parliament
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky was greeted with a standing ovation as he addressed the European Parliament today.
He said that he was ”happy that we have unified today, all of the members of the European Union,” but that it was a very high price to pay.
In contrast, there was a mass walkout from the UN’s Human Rights Council when Russia’s foreign minister addressed the meeting.
In his speech he accused the Ukrainian government of playing “dangerous games linked to plans to acquire their own nuclear weapons”.

Bombing and fighting in Kyiv
The Ukrainian resistance has slowed the advance on Kyiv but there is a 40-mile-long convoy of Russian military vehicles approaching the Ukrainian capital and Russian bombing of the city has caused civilian casualties.
President Zelensky has accused Russia of committing war crimes in targeting civilian targets in the city and around the country.
For now, as Russian troops approach Kyiv citizens are preparing to fight.

UK PM Boris Johnson confronted by tearful Ukrainian journalist
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson was confronted by a Ukrainian journalist at a press conference in Warsaw, Poland.
The journalist, who said she was from Kyiv and had family and colleagues still in Ukraine, accused Nato of being unwilling to enforce a no-fly zone out of fear of a World War Three that has “already started”.
"We are crying, we don't know where to run," she told him.
The UK prime minister said that “direct combat” with Russia was not something the UK could do, but he was "doing everything we can to tighten the economic noose".

On the Polish-Ukrainian border as tens of thousands flee
More than 500,000 refugees have fled Ukraine since Russia’s invasion, according to the UN. Newsnight reports from the Polish-Ukrainian border.
One of the key crossings is at Przemyśl station in Poland, a few miles from the Ukrainian-Polish border.
