A Tale of Two Mountains, Part 1 (Hebrews 12:18-24)
By Jim Osman, Pastor | July 9, 2023 | Exposition of Hebrews
Description: To encourage the readers unto endurance, the author contrasts their current state of blessed assurance with the terrifying events surrounding the giving of the law. This is part of the fifth and final warning passage in Hebrews. An exposition of Hebrews 12:18-24 and selected Old Testament passages.
For you have not come to a mountain that can be touched and to a blazing fire, and to darkness and gloom and whirlwind, and to the blast of a trumpet and the sound of words, which sound was such that those who heard begged that no further word be spoken to them. For they could not cope with the command, “If even an animal touches the mountain, it shall be stoned.” And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, “I am terrified and trembling.” But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of… URL: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews%2012:18-24&version=NASB

God’s Seed Grows a New Nature in Believers (1 John 3:4-10)
By David Henke, Teacher | July 9, 2023 | Adult Sunday School
Description: The distinguishing marks of authentic believers is that their lives reflect godly character. This passage illustrates the seriousness of sin, and how to tell the difference between Children of God and Children of the devil. The way of determining each is through their nature. A child of the devil can only produce a nature that is in opposition to God. But, a child of God, by the seed implanted in them, can produce the fruit of righteousness. Sin will always be present but it will not be a way of life.
Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness. You know that He appeared in order to take away sins; and in Him there is no sin. No one who remains in Him sins continually; no one who sins continually has seen Him or knows Him. Little children, make sure no one deceives you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous; the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The Son of God… URL: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1%20John%203:4-10&version=NASB

Esau: Faithless and Forsaken (Hebrews 12:16-17)
By Jim Osman, Pastor | July 2, 2023 | Exposition of Hebrews
Description: Esau is an example of one who forfeits blessings for temporary ease or comfort. He serves as a warning to any who might think of turning from truth to avoid the hostility of the world. An exposition of Hebrews 12:16-17.
that there be no sexually immoral or godless person like Esau, who sold his own birthright for a single meal. For you know that even afterward, when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, though he sought for it with tears. Living in Hope of Christ’s Return (1 John 2:28-3:3)
By David Henke, Teacher | July 2, 2023 | Adult Sunday School
Description: Every Christian should be living their lives with an expectation that one day they will meet Christ face to face. No one knows the day or the hour when that will happen, so the best approach is to always be practicing righteousness. Time is one aspect of life that we have dominion over. We should, and must, spend it wisely with an eye toward the future coming of Christ. How we live today matters to those around us, and when we meet our Savior in the clouds.
Now, little children, remain in Him, so that when He appears, we may have confidence and not draw back from Him in shame at His coming. If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness also has been born of Him. See how great a love the Father has given us, that we would be called children of God; and in fact we are. For this reason the world does not know us: because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet… URL: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1%20John%202:28-3:3&version=NASB

The Living Word (Hebrews 4:12-13)
By Jim Osman, Pastor |Nov 18, 2018 | Exposition of Hebrews
Description: A look at the meaning and implications of the fact that “The Word of God” is “living.” An exposition of Hebrews 4:12-13.
For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, even penetrating as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him to whom we must answer. The Word of God (Hebrews 4:12-13)
By Jim Osman, Pastor |Nov 11, 2018 | Exposition of Hebrews

Enter With Diligence (Hebrews 4:9-11)
By Jim Osman, Pastor | Nov 4, 2018 | Exposition of Hebrews
Description: The conclusion to the argument regarding entering God’s rest. We deal with the issue of “Sabbath Rest” and the relationship of the Sabbath to New Testament believers. An exposition of Hebrews 4:9-11.
Consequently, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God. For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His. Therefore let’s make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following the same example of disobedience. A Rest For Today (Hebrews 4:4-8)
By Jim Osman, Pastor | Oct 28, 2018 | Exposition of Hebrews
Description: The author shows from the Old Testament that the offer of God’s rest was not a one time offer and it has not yet been fulfilled. An exposition of Hebrews 4:4-8.
For He has said somewhere concerning the seventh day: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works”; and again in this passage, “They certainly shall not enter My rest.” Therefore, since it remains for some to enter it, and those who previously had good news preached to them failed to enter because of disobedience, He again sets a certain day, “Today,” saying through David after so long a time just as has been said before, “Today if you hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts.” For… URL: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews%204:4-8&version=NASB

Entering The Rest (Hebrews 4:1-3)
By Jim Osman, Pastor | Oct 21, 2018 | Exposition of Hebrews
Description: In making his case that there is a rest for the people of God, the author of Hebrews begins by showing that we who have believed in Christ have not come short of it. An exposition of Hebrews 4:1-3.
Therefore, we must fear if, while a promise remains of entering His rest, any one of you may seem to have come short of it. For indeed we have had good news preached to us, just as they also did; but the word they heard did not benefit them, because they were not united with those who listened with faith. For we who have believed enter that rest, just as He has said, “As I swore in My anger, They certainly shall not enter My rest,” although His works were finished from the foundation of the… URL: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews%204:1-3&version=NASB

Those Who Were Disobedient (Hebrews 3:15-19)

while it is said, “Today if you hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts, as when they provoked Me.” For who provoked Him when they had heard? Indeed, did not all those who came out of Egypt led by Moses? And with whom was He angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose dead bodies fell in the wilderness? Avoiding Unbelief (Hebrews 3:12-13)
By Jim Osman, Pastor | Sep 9, 2018 | Exposition of Hebrews
Description: The author gives us two things we should do to prevent unbelief in our hearts: careful examination and continual encouragement. An exposition of Hebrews 3:12-13.
Take care, brothers and sisters, that there will not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God. But encourage one another every day, as long as it is still called “today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. A Rebellious Generation, Part 2 (Numbers 13-14; Psalm 95)
By Jim Osman, Pastor | Sep 2, 2018 | Exposition of Hebrews
Description: Before looking in depth at the warning passage, we look back at the historical incident that is the background for it. This is an exposition of Numbers 13-14 and Psalm 95.
Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Send out men for yourself to spy out the land of Canaan, which I am going to give the sons of Israel; you shall send a man from each of their fathers’ tribes, every one a leader among them.” So Moses sent them from the wilderness of Paran at the command of the Lord, all of them men who were heads of the sons of Israel. These then were their names: from the tribe of Reuben, Shammua the son of Zaccur; from the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat the son of Hori; from… URL: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Numbers%2013-14,Psalm%2095&version=NASB

Description: A look at the example of the wilderness generation. An exposition of Hebrews 3:7-11.
Therefore, just as the Holy Spirit says, “Today if you hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as when they provoked Me, As on the day of trial in the wilderness, Where your fathers put Me to the test, And saw My works for forty years. Therefore I was angry with this generation, And said, ‘They always go astray in their heart, And they did not know My ways’; As I swore in My anger, ‘They certainly shall not enter My rest.’”

The Freedom of Grace (Luke 15)
By Evan Burns, Missionary | June 18, 2023 | Worship Service
Both the younger son (the rebellious prodigal) and the older son (the religious prodigal) are more alike than they are different: They are both opposed to receiving the free goodness and grace of the Father. They are essentially anti-grace prodigals. And so, we must remember not to resist or replace God's grace. An exposition of Luke 15.
