Chad Daybell sentenced to death for killing wife and girlfriend’s 2 children in jury decision
Chad Daybell sentenced to death for killing wife and girlfriend’s 2 children in jury decision.
A jury in Idaho unanimously agreed Saturday that convicted killer Chad Daybell deserves the death penalty for the gruesome murders of his wife and his girlfriend’s two youngest children, ending a grim case that began in 2019 with a search for two missing children.
The 55-year-old Daybell, wearing a dress shirt and tie, sat with his hands in his lap at the defense table. He showed no emotion when learning he would face the death penalty for the murders of Tammy Daybell, 16-year-old Tylee Ryan and 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow.
When asked by the judge whether he wanted to make a statement, Daybell declined.
Jurors found him guilty Thursday and decided on the death sentence after deliberating for just over a day.

Israel Day parade in NYC will draw thousands, and tight security. What to know if you go
Israel Day parade in NYC will draw thousands, and tight security. What to know if you go.
As many as 40,000 people are expected to gather in Manhattan on Sunday for the annual Israel Day on Fifth parade, which will unfold under tight security this year amid the tensions of the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza.
Held since 1964, the parade bills itself as the world's largest gathering in support of the Jewish State. It typically features music, marching bands and a festival-like vibe. But this year, the event will have a more somber mood, following the Oct. 7 attack on Israel in which Hamas terrorists killed 1,200 people and took 250 hostages.
Israel's military response in Gaza has sparked intense criticism of the country as well. The New York City Police Department on Friday said that security would be stepped up Sunday as a precaution. It said the event could draw protests as well.

Eminem’s new single ‘Houdini’ is quite literally ripped from 2002
On Friday, the rapper released “Houdini,” the first single from his upcoming album “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce).” The song continues where his 22-year-old single “Without Me” left off, riffing on a similar beat and self-referential lyrics about how the world has changed while he remains the same spitball-chucking troll as always.

Nikki Haley Writes “Finish Them!”, Draws Heart on Israeli Artillery Shell
Former Republican presidential hopeful Nikki Haley wrote “Finish Them!” on an artillery shell in Israel during a Memorial Day visit. Haley, who was the U.N. ambassador during the Trump administration, drew a heart on the missile, noting, “America [Loves] Israel Always!”
Haley performed the stunt during a tour with Danny Danon, Israel’s former ambassador to the United Nations and a member of the Israeli Parliament.
Danon later shared a photo on X of their visit, which features both of them signing the shells. “This is what my friend, the former ambassador Nikki Haley, wrote today on a shell during a visit to an artillery post on the northern border,” Danon wrote, “The I.D.F. will win!”

A Reflection on how we mark Memorial Day.
Today, after writing this, I’ll walk to Swiss Cottage station, take the Jubilee line to Bond Street, and head east on the Central line from there.
I’ll emerge from London’s labyrinthine underground network in the shadow of the towering dome of St. Paul’s Cathedral. Once inside, I’ll head to the eastern end of the building and find the American Memorial Chapel.
This corner of the cathedral complex was destroyed during the blitz in World War II, and the chapel was rebuilt as a commemoration of the Americans who died during the conflict.

Nadal exits French Open, First Round after 20 Years, $23.7 Million.
Rafael Nadal may have played his last match at Roland Garros, losing 6-3, 7-6, 6-3 to No. 4 seeded Alexander Zverev in the first round on Monday. He’ll take home just more than $79,000 for bowing out in the round of 128 of this year’s tournament, but that’s pocket change compared to what the Spaniard has earned at the French Open over the past two decades.
