Thanksgiving Day Parade Balloons Come To Life - NYC
On the eve of the United States Thanksgiving day, all of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade balloons are inflated on 77th and 81st Streets between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue in New York City's Upper West Side. The enormous balloons take up two full city blocks. The tradition of slowly bringing giant character balloons to life for the Thanksgiving Day parade dates back to 1927.

Philippines Haiyan - Empire State Building NYC
The Empire State Building in New York City brings awareness and support to the Philippines. The iconic New York skyscraper was illuminated red, blue, yellow and white -- the colors of the Philippine flag -- to help make people more aware of the need for donations and aid to help Filipinos in regions ravaged by Typhoon Haiyan. The monster storm is one of the most powerful storms on record to make landfall. Haiyan - named "Yolanda" by Philippine authorities - struck the coastal provinces of Leyte and Samar on Friday, November 8, 2013. It then headed west, sweeping through six central Philippine islands.
Thousands lost their lives, and millions have lost their homes and are in desperate need of food, water, clothing, shelter and medical supplies.
The Empire State Building tower lights remained lit with the Philippine flag colors Friday and Saturday November 15-16, 2013.
