In a nutshell the innocence fraud phenomenon is when an actual, factual guilty, deceptive & manipulative person i.e. killer, rapist, thief, fraudster, embezzler etc, is enabled by other manipulative & deceptive people; including family members, friends, lawyers, academics, former police & FBI officers, forensic scientists, hacks, writers, bloggers, authors, journalists, documentarians, celebrities & others - to lie on their behalf & craft false but convincing narratives in an attempt to give the impression the guilty person is innocent.
