Max could have ran in any direction he wanted, but he knew that the chance of dying that day was real! https://www.HopeForPaws.org I am so grateful to Danhy Drago for texting me about this rescue, for finding the exact location (it wasn't simple), and for joining me on this mission. It was cute to see a text reading "If anyone can rescue this dog, that's you" 😊 It was cool to have other neighbors join the effort at the end! Lately the whole #HopeForPaws team has spent quite a lot of time in sewers and storm drains... i'm not sure what's up with that. This rescue was dangerous and I will ask that you NEVER stop on the freeway... it could have gone so wrong! Luckily, it was a #HopeForPaws fan who stopped for Bellflower, she knew to call me right away, and I rushed out. Hello everybody. OK, so the mom had given birth in the attic, and as she was moving the babies to a different location (maybe because of the noise due to construction), Wallter was probably the last one, he looked for his family, and just fell from the attic into the wall. It's sad, but the mother knew there was nothing she can do, so she decided to save her other babies. Luckily, Amy knew to call Hope For Paws for help! Loreta and I have a lot of experience with breaking things and getting into walls, and this time we managed to save WALLter. When we received the call on the Hope For Paws line, I thought I was responding to a call about a dog who was hit by a car. I had no idea the dog was paralyzed by fear of moving around... blind. It is so unusual to have heavy rain in the middle of May here in Los Angeles, but of course, the day it happens, this family of baby skunks gets in trouble by entering a Jacuzzi and they couldn't get out! Our friends at Pacific Wildlife Rescue knew to call us for help, so Loreta and I headed out immediately! We feared the Jacuzzi would fill with water and they will drown! I tried to save Loreta from being sprayed and offered a safe rescue plan, but she didn't listen... she wanted to go down there and hold the skunks in her own hands and hand them over to their mom :-) The rest of the day was a nightmare because we had to continue rescuing that day... smelling like skunks. Right after rescuing Masik from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCstF... (1.8 million views). We received another call on the Hope For Paws emergency line. A Golden Retriever was laying down for many hours, unresponsive, and Loreta Frankonyte and I knew it was an emergency. Of course, there was no way for us to know how badly he was injured (nothing was visible), but we could tell that something was wrong internally. After the rescue, we named him Antonio, and rushed to see Dr. Pedraza. He told us that looking at the ultrasound images, it looks like he was kicked really hard. He didn't believe that the dog was hit by a car because there were no signs of that - no road rash, no broken bones, no visible trauma that is always present in cases where dogs are hit by cars... it was a hit that injured his liver and spleen. Because of the injury, Antonio was bleeding internally, and the doctor told us that if we didn't get to him that day, he would have bled internally and would have died within hours.
