Lord Byron - Loves Last Adieu
George Gordon Byron, 6th Baron Byron FRS (22 January 1788 – 19 April 1824) simply known as Lord Byron, was an English poet and peer.
"Love's Last Adieu" is a poignant and introspective poem composed by the renowned English poet Lord Byron. Written during the Romantic era, this work delves into the universal themes of love, loss, and the bittersweet nature of parting.
In this elegiac piece, Lord Byron masterfully captures the intense emotions associated with bidding farewell to a beloved. The poem begins with a somber tone as the speaker reflects on the imminent separation, expressing a sense of melancholy and resignation. As the verses unfold, Byron explores the complexities of human emotions, depicting the inner struggle between the desire to hold onto love and the inevitability of its transience.
Byron's evocative language and vivid imagery bring the emotional landscape to life, painting a vivid picture of the pain, longing, and longing associated with love's departure. The poet employs metaphors and similes to convey the depth of his emotions, using phrases like "the dew of the morning sunk chill on my brow" to illustrate the speaker's sorrow and desolation.
Throughout the poem, Lord Byron's poetic voice is marked by its intensity, passion, and lyrical beauty. The verses are imbued with a sense of wistfulness and yearning, as the speaker grapples with the realization that love, though powerful and transformative, is ultimately transient.
"Love's Last Adieu" stands as a testament to Lord Byron's ability to delve into the depths of human experience and encapsulate profound emotions within the confines of poetic form. With its poignant exploration of love's ephemeral nature, this poem continues to resonate with readers, reminding us of the fragility and profound impact of love in our lives.

Discover the Mysterious Origins of St Valentine's Day
Discover the mysterious origins of St Valentines , from the 6th century to modern day, follow the story of this renowned day of love and romance.
Merch for Valentines Day - https://www.contrado.co.uk/stores/did...
00:00:00 - 00:05:00 The video discusses the little information that is known about Saint Valentine, and how the church still considers him a saint. An excavation of a catacomb near Rome in the early 1800s yielded the skeletal remains of Saint Valentine, and his flower-adorned skull is on display in the Basilica of Santa Maria in Cosmedin in Rome. Some people believe that the medieval English poet Jeffrey Chaucer may have actually invented Valentine's Day, but evidence does not exist to support this claim. Today, Valentine's Day is traditionally celebrated on February 14th in his honour.

Richard Sterne 1596 - 1683 - The Kings Bishop
The Reverend Richard Sterne – The Kings Bishop
00:00:00 - 00:00:00
Richard Sterne was a bishop in the Church of England during the reigns of three kings: Charles II, James II and William III. Sterne wrote about his experiences and observations in his books, which have been influential in English literature. In this video, a narrator discusses Sterne's life and work, highlighting his importance in English history.
Reverend Richard Sterne was a renowned English divine and Archbishop of York who was born in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire in 1596 , during the reign of Elizabeth I, to Simon and Margery, the daughter of Gregory Walker.
He was educated at the local free Grammar school until 1611, when he went onto gain a scholarship at Trinity College, Cambridge, where graduated in 1614. Then he went on to obtain his Master of Arts in 1618. He became a fellow of Corpus Christi in 1620 and was elected as a fellow at Benet College Cambridge in 1623. He then went on and gained his Bachelor of Divinity in 1625.
During this time Richard advanced his career steadily and came into the favourable notice of William Laud, who made Richard his personal chaplain when he became the Archbishop of Canterbury in 1633. That same year Richard was appointed Master of Jesus College, Cambridge and was given Rectorships in both Yeovilton and Harleton in 1634 through the Archbishops influence. When he became a Doctor of Divinity in 1635, Richard Sterne’s career seemed secure.
