Yes sanctioned fights do exist! I am Portuguese & Italian, & I was told as a child many people would try to fight me when I grew up, & that if I made the initial contact of aggression that I would be put in jail. I turned down many bait fights which would have landed me in jail, this just happened to be a real fight, the other guy lost 2/3rds of a tooth. I called the bar owner the next day to apologize for being part of a disturbance in his bar.
