Paddles to the Platform! - T-45 USS GW Carrier Qualification
Welcome aboard the LSO platform on the USS George Washington (CVN-73). Today, we are training Naval Flight Students to land on an aircraft carrier for the first time. To pass, students require ten traps, two touch-and-goes, and must meet GPA and boarding rate requirements.
For CQ, we have a whole lot of LSOs on the platform. Both NAS Kingsville and NAS Meridian have students training, so you will see LSOs from the respective student squadrons cycle behind the pickle for their passes.
If you enjoy this jam, make sure to check out my COD recovery voiceover, where I breakdown LSO duties and responsibilities. It's a quick, two-minute jam that might peak your curiosity. The link is below.

Drogue Tanking Explained - NATO Luftwaffe Tanking Over Iraq
Welcome to an aerial refueling ride-along aboard a US-Navy EA-18G aerial tanking evolution over Iraq. You can see the tanker drogue giving me a little bit of trouble in pre-contact when the jet started turning. I was able to stabilize relatively quickly behind the tanker and make a play for it. I took about 8,000 pounds of gas in twelve minutes.

"The Pearl of the Desert" - Narrated Carrier Break
Welcome aboard. Hang on! We are bingo. It's time to recover at NAF El Centro, CA.
We just departed the R-2512 southbound and we have two other fighters on our wing.
At time 1:25, we overfly the city of Imperial and the east initial, which is the VFR reporting of "tanks". From 2,500 feet MSL, we push over and accelerate to 250 KIAS and 800 feet AGL.
We offset right of runway 26 and break at the approach end at 350 KIAS after kissing of our wingmen.
16 seconds in the groove. Little high come down in close for the OK 3.
After we cross the three-board, we turn off the runway onto taxiway G and taxi to our line via taxiway Golf.
I'm just happy to be here. Fly Navy!

VOICEOVER - When Things Go Wrong: Aviate, Navigate, Communicate
Welcome aboard an EA-18G Growler catapult shot off the TR (CVN-71) somewhere in the Arabian Gulf. This was a MAX power Case I launch off catapult 2.
You can see that catapult 1 (the catapult immediately to my right) was undergoing maintenance, so the handler had jets stacked on it. Space is a premium on the flight deck.
After I launch, you see me execute a clearing turn to the right, then back to the left. This "clearing turn" is a visual signal to other aircraft in the pattern of my intention to depart the pattern. No comms required.
As you can see, I need to find a better place to put my charts.

VOICEOVER - Nervous Fantail Taxi - Too Close to the Edge!
Welcome aboard an EA-18G Growler recovery and sketchy taxi aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) in the Arabian Gulf.
On the flight deck, directors and pilots work closely together to carefully taxi 70+ million dollar aircraft inches from the edge of the flight deck. The nose gear of the Super Hornet is slightly behind the pilot, so, when taxiing near the edge of the flight deck, the pilot's feet can actually lie over the water when the the aircraft is in a turn.
Thanks for watching. Fly Navy!

VOICEOVER - Memorial Day Tribute - The Long Road to Combat
Welcome aboard an Air Wing package check on a KC-10 on the front side of a combat sortie in support of OPERATION INHERENT RESOLVE. This was one of my four trips to the tanker on this 7+ hour sortie.
Make sure to watch until the end. I want to extend a heart-filled thank you to my fans who provided me with pictures and the opportunity to honor those who have served in defense of our country and those who are no longer with us that willingly gave their lives in defense of freedom, so that others may live. Thank you for your service.

VOICEOVER - THUNDERSTORM Catapult Launch - US Navy EA-18G Growler Cockpit View - Sound Remastered
Welcome aboard! Get ready! It's time to get moving. Today, we are in the cockpit of an EA-18G Growler aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) somewhere in the Pacific Ocean near Guam in 2017. This will be a MAX power Case I launch off catapult 3 on a day training sortie.
The aircraft carrier always points into the wind during flight operations. Often times, this means that the ship is driving towards inclement weather. This was the case here.
Around time 6:00, the rain starts and the winds pickup.
Around time 7:00 the winds intensify and I can no longer see beyond the bow. The deck crew doesn't miss a beat and keeps it coming! Luckily this was an isolated storm that we passed thorough quickly.
Just another day on the boat. Fly Navy!

VOICEOVER - "Wave-Off Foul Deck!" - Cockpit View - EA-18G Growler - Light Division - Case I Recovery
Welcome aboard low holding to a carrier break from the -2 position. This was a light division recovery aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) on the backside of a 1.5-hour training sortie about 300 NM west of Guam.
At the beginning of the jam, we enter low holding overhead Mom at angels 3, waiting for the deck to clear and the fighters at angels 2 to break the deck. After a couple of laps, it was our turn for the overhead.
I get waived off due to improper lens settings on my first pass. You can see the red flashing lights on the FRESNEL lens, indicating that is time for me to go around. No worries. One more lap around the pattern, then I'm safe on deck. Thanks, Paddles. Fly Navy!

VOICEOVER - TURBULENCE! - Rough Day Tanking - EA-18G Cockpit View Aerial Refueling - CC-150T Polaris
Welcome aboard! This was a rough day tanking off a NATO Canadian CC-150 somewhere over Iraq. At the beginning of the video, I am in starboard observation. Once cleared by the boom operator, I proceed to pre-contact right.
After contact, however, the boom operator directs me to disconnect, so he can troubleshoot a "low-flow" issue. Fuel was not flowing to my jet at a normal rate.
After I back out, I try to reengage the drogue on the tanker's starboard wing for about three minutes. As you can see, the basket was moving around too much for me to connect safely. As I grow increasingly frustrated, I noticed that the drogue on the port wing was not moving nearly as much as the one on the starboard side, so I ask the boom operator if I can switch sides.
After cleared to precontact left, I finally contact the port drogue. I was able to stay in the basket, get my gas, then support troops on the ground.
The evolution took longer than it should have, but I'm glad I got my gas and didn't make any dangerous plays for the basket. I earned my paycheck today.

VOICEOVER - PINKY CARRIER RECOVERY Aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) - Growler Jams
Welcome aboard! Get ready! It's time to recover. Today, we are in the cockpit of an EA-18G Growler overhead the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) somewhere in the Pacific Ocean in 2017.
This is a "pinky" or sunset recovery. You will see me pass overhead the ship three times.
At time 0:14, I am in low holding (point 1) at angels four, waiting for my turn to recover. After the aircraft holding below me vacate their altitudes, I can follow them down to the overhead.
At time 2:30, I enter the spin pattern. My interval was waved off, was past the bow, and had yet turn downwind, so I spun it for the overhead.
At time 4:12, I broke on my interval. Only the tanker trapped behind me.
Time to get some grub before the night page. All in a day's work. I'm just happy to be here.

VOICEOVER - THUNDERSTORM Catapult Launch - US Navy EA-18G Growler Cockpit View - Salty and Drenched
Fly Navy!

No chance, Paddles! #growler
Welcome to an EA-18G attempted pass aboard the USS TR (CVN-71) in the Pacific Ocean. The preceding aircraft did not clear the landing area when I was in the groove. You can see the red flashing lights on the FRESNEL lens, indicating that is time for me to go around. No worries. One more lap around the pattern, then I'm safe on deck. Thanks, Paddles. Fly Navy!

Shaka for the Gas and the AMEX Points! - US Navy EA-18G Aerial Refueling Cockpit View - Fly Navy
Welcome aboard! Today we are collecting on Iran. We are orbiting over the Gulf of Oman in international airspace, just north of Muscat, Oman. Iran was moving some ships in a military exercise and we were tasked with taking a look at what they were doing.
This was a long flight from the boat, so we had to hit a tanker many times. This sortie was high-priority, so we actually were given a dedicated tanker to drag us from the boat to the Gulf of Oman and drag us back after we were complete.
The video starts with the final portion of a stern conversion on a KC-135 Stratotanker. As you can see, we were the only show in town, so we were cleared to join straight into pre contact.
You will see that once my probe is connected to the Iron Maiden, I have to push the hose up to a ninety degree kink to get gas. The easy part is getting it in. The hard part is keeping it there.
Got my gas, but no receipt. Hope I get those AMEX points!
Thanks for the chit chat and the gas, fellas. Enjoy your per diem and runways! Fly Navy.

High Stakes Blue-Water OPS - US Navy EA-18G Flight Deck OPS and Catapult Launch - Salty Cockpit View
Welcome aboard. We just got both motors online and the Air Boss will signal for the first launch in 45 seconds. We are on month 2 of cruise, we just passed through the Strait of Malacca, and our flight suits are now brown. Our nearest divert is Sri Lanka, but no one has the gas to get there. Time for blue-water operations.
First, we launch the fighters. Off my nose, you will see two VFA-113 F/A-18Es launch prior to my departure from "the six pack" and turning towards catapult 2. The USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) is beginning to hit its stride and aircrew and the flight deck are operating as a team.
Combat operations begin in two weeks. If there is training to be had, now is the time. This was a day, Unit Level Training (ULT) sortie...just gettin' some flying before the trans start flying and the bombs start dropping.
Thanks for watching. Fly Navy!
