Ukraine braces for retaliation after an attack on the bridge from Crimea to Russia
The kerch bridge, linking the occupied Crimean peninsula to Russia, opened in May 2018 to great fanfare. It cost $3.7bn to build. President Vladimir Putin was the bridge’s first official customer, driving at the front of a column of orange trucks. On the morning of October 8th, just a day after the president’s 70th birthday, the focus turned to a different truck: a white vehicle, which, according to local investigators, was carrying a bomb that ripped through at least two sections of road bridge and apparently set ablaze seven rail tankers and part of the parallel railway bridge that they were on.
Much about the incident is still unclear. The ecstatic delight in Ukraine is not. By noon, the internet was ablaze with memes celebrating the partial destruction of a prominent symbol of Russian occupation. Oleksiy Danilov, the country’s security chief, posted a cheeky video of the damaged bridge, alongside Marilyn Monroe’s “Happy Birthday” ode to JFK. Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to Ukraine’s president, said it was just the beginning of Ukrainian ambitions for Crimea: “Everything illegal must be destroyed….everything that is stolen must be returned.”

Russian, Ukraine War
Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered Nuclear Military train to Ukraine's Borders. The president Putin is set to demonstrate his willingness to use weapons of mass destruction with a Nuclear test in Ukraine's Boarders. Nato is believed to have warned it's members.
The Kremlin has been signalling it's readiness for a significant escalation as Russia loses ground on the battlefield.
Fear over Putin's earlier hints that he might resort to such tactics heightened yesterday with the claims that a train operated by the secretive nuclear division was destiny for Ukraine.
Konrad Muzyka, a Poland-based defence analysis said the train, spotted in the central Russia was linked to the 12the main directorate of the Russian ministry of defence and that it was "responsible for the nuclear munitions, their storage, maintenance, transportation and issue to units".

Alabama jumps Georgia to take over No. 1 spot in AP Top 25 college football poll
Alabama reclaimed No. 1 from Georgia in The Associated Press college football poll in one of the closest votes in recent years, and six teams -- including Kansas -- made their season debuts Sunday.
The Crimson Tide received 25 first-place votes and 1,523 points in the AP Top 25, two points more than the Bulldogs. Georgia received 28 first-place votes to become the first team since Alabama in November 2019 to have the most first-place votes but not be No. 1.
The Tide were No. 2 behind LSU that year, with 21 first-place votes to the Tigers' 17.
The last time there was a two-point margin between Nos. 1 and 2 was Nov. 1, 2020, when Clemson was ahead of Alabama. There have been three other polls with a two-point margin at the top since 2007.
Ohio State remained third, but the Buckeyes also gained some ground on the top two, getting 10 first-place votes.
