After just landing on the Island of Oahu, Hawaii we jetted to the the closest beach from our condo and it was... Waikiki Beach. The ocean water temperature was around 75 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit and it felt amazing after the 23 hours of travel and sleeping overnight at the LAX Airport. Yeah, I was so excited about getting into the ocean I forgot about the cords hanging from my hat to protect my skin from the amazing sunlight Hawaii offers at sea level. After a difficult hike up the KOKA Head Trail, okay, the Stairs of Insanity, I deserved a portion of ice cream to myself. This place was highly recommended by many locals, had good reviews, and was only 0.2 miles from the condo near Waikiki Beach. It wasn't easy to find and I give a huge pointer to finding it in this short video. Would I return to Oahu and walk those 1,400 steps yet again to indulge in the "Double Fat Ice Cream?" This video is not green enough. And I didn't know then what I know today about botany - not nearly enough! The trees, plants, flowers, vegetation, birds, animals, and more are all in abundance within the Waimea Valley on the Island of Oahu, Hawaii. It was only $25.00 per adult to enter the park and well, well, WELL worth the money. The hike is normally less than 1.3 miles round trip, but every time there was an alternate path, stairs, or a fork in the road, yes, we took them all and hiked nearly 3.5 miles.
