The prospect of nuclear war is not only there, but also growing - Dmitry Medvedev
The prospect of nuclear war is growing every day, says Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia.
The President of the Council pointed out that the issues of climate change in the current geopolitical conditions have taken a back seat compared to the risk of a nuclear collision, and called for an end to "suffering because the temperature has risen by one degree".
"In my opinion, this is nothing compared to the prospect of being at the epicenter of an explosion with a temperature of five thousand Kelvin, a shock wave of 350 meters per second..." - Medvedev said on April 25 during the meeting with the participants of the "Knowledge" marathon.
Medvedev pointed out that the prospect of being in the center of a nuclear explosion today is growing every day.
Western countries do not want equal partnership with Russia and "they only want to dominate," Medvedev stressed.
"That is why, I want to repeat again: they understand only the use-of-force language and they must be countered only with force. It is only in this case that an end will be put to the intents of NATO’s endless and continuous expansion and the plans of surrounding Russia with ever new military bases and testing our strength," he pointed out.

Explorers find WWII Shipwreck torpedoed by a US submarine on which nearly 1,000 Australians died
Deep-sea explorers said they have located the wreck of a World War II Japanese transport ship, the SS Montevideo Maru, which was torpedoed off the Philippines in 1942 killing nearly 1,000 Australian prisoners of war onboard.
The ship was sunk on July 1, 1942, en route from what is now Papua New Guinea to China’s Hainan, by a United States submarine whose crew did not realise the ship carried prisoners of war.
The location of the wreck had remained a mystery for more than 80 years.

Russia’s MFA summons US, British, Canadian envoys over interference in domestic affairs
The Russian Foreign Ministry has summoned the ambassadors of the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada to talk about the fact that they are meddling in Russia’s domestic affairs, the ministry said in a statement.
"The ambassadors of the US, the UK and Canada have been summoned to the Foreign Ministry over blatant interference in Russia’s domestic affairs and activities inconsistent with diplomatic status," the statement reads.
Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova previously slammed the three envoy’s statements about the verdict in columnist Vladimir Kara-Murza’s (designated as a foreign agent) case as direct meddling in Russia’s internal affairs.
The Russian diplomat emphasized that Moscow viewed British Ambassador to Moscow Deborah Bronnert’s remarks as unacceptable and warned London against politicizing international human rights issues. Zakharova also branded the US and Canadian envoys’ calls for releasing Kara-Murza as "the height of cynicism," pointing to gross human rights violations and the persecution of dissenters in their countries.

Sirens blared in Hokkaido, evacuation warning for N. Korea missile was not a mistake
The Japanese government said the emergency evacuation warning it issued and later retracted against residents of the northern island of Hokkaido after a North Korean missile launch on Thursday morning was appropriate and not an error.
"We did not correct the information issued by the J-Alert" emergency broadcasting system, Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno told a news conference.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said the North Korean missile was launched at a lofted angle on Thursday from a location near the capital Pyongyang at 7:23am (22:23 GMT on Wednesday).
"Evacuate immediately. Evacuate immediately," read the initial warning from the Japanese government ... though the Japanese Coast Guard later said the missile had already crashed into the sea.

Starship, biggest and most powerful rocket ever made, exploded three minutes after launch
The flight of the Starship spacecraft turned into an emergency situation three minutes after launch. The rocket spun, there was an explosion, follows from the broadcast. The host said that not all engines had time to turn on.
The footage from the broadcast shows an explosion in the sky and flying debris.
The rocket successfully left its launchpad in Texas, but the two pieces of the spacecraft failed to separate as planned. Shortly after, the two exploded in the air, leaving a dramatic cloud in the sky.
It was the first time that the “fully-integrated” version of Starship – with the spacecraft upper stage attached to the ‘Super Heavy’ booster – has ever launched. Together, they are the biggest and most powerful rocket ever made, with twice the thrust of the Saturn V rocket that carried humanity to the Moon.

Peskov: Seoul will become a party to the conflict if it hands over weapons to Kyiv
The desire of South Korea to provide military assistance to Ukraine will make it a participant in the conflict. So the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov commented on the intention of Seoul to send weapons to the Kyiv regime.
“There is nothing cardinally new in this. Unfortunately, Seoul has taken unfriendly positions in this story, this is a continuation,” the Kremlin spokesman emphasized.
According to him, an increasing number of countries will be involved in the conflict. Peskov said that the start of arms supplies indirectly indicates a certain stage of involvement in the conflict.

Parking garage collapses in New York City, killing 1, 5 others injured
A parking garage collapsed Tuesday in lower Manhattan's Financial District, killing one worker, injuring five and crushing cars as concrete floors fell on top of each other like a stack of pancakes, officials said.
Vehicles tumbled into what looked like a frozen stream of sedans and SUVs. People nearby described a fearsome rumbling, followed by screams.
New York Fire Department had ordered all their initial responders out of the building, and a robotics unit had been deployed to check the site because of unstable conditions of the fallen structure.
The collapsed building is around 200 meters away from the World Trade Center.

In a joint statement issues earlier in the day, the G7 foreign ministers once again called on Russia to return to a dialogue with the US to reduce nuclear risks.
"They are endlessly hypocritical and lie to their own and others, but they say that our country is spreading 'false information' about Ukraine. They demand that Russia give them some kind of guarantees about nuclear weapons, but in fact, they are hinting at a future nuclear conflict between our country and NATO," Medvedev wrote on Telegram.

3. Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev has accused the foreign ministers of the G7 countries of lying and mendacity over their calls for Russia to affirm that it stands against nuclear war.
"What lying bastards! They themselves dropped nuclear bombs but show no remorse. They’re forever speaking with a forked tongue, telling bald-faced lies to their own people as well as to outsiders, and then they claim that it’s our country that is spreading ‘false information’ about Ukraine. They’re now demanding that Russia provide them with some sort of guarantees with regards to nuclear weapons, but in reality they’re hinting at a future nuclear conflict between our country and NATO," Medvedev wrote on Telegram on Tuesday.
He pointed out that the G7 foreign ministers’ meeting was taking place in Japan. "It’s where hundreds of thousands of people died from atomic bombs. It’s a country whose leaders are, in effect, spitting on the graves of their fellow citizens who died at the hands of the Americans," he noted, adding: "What a disgrace!"

1. Frequent cases of stray dogs fatally attacking passers-by highlight the need to change the applicable laws and euthanize such animals, given the fact that they have no chance of being adopted from shelters after capture, Sergey Ivanov, Russia’s presidential envoy for environmental protection, ecology and transport said in a commentary for the Rossiya-24 television channel on Monday.
