Barney The Lyttel Town Piano
Took some time after the market to play 'Barney the Lyttel Town Piano' in Lyttelton which seemed to be well received and appreciated by the local townsfolk and visitors.
This piano is somewhat worse for wear but still playable and much like the upright grand pianola i trained on so is a familiar touch to bashing out some music..

Spontaneous Creation III: A Piano Impromptu
Part of my music in artistic spaces ongoing series where I spontaneously play, mainly pianos in galleries, surrounded and inspired by rich visual extravganzas of fine art. This time I am at Aigantighe Gallery, a magnificent gallery that has been converted from a house that was bequested by enlightened benefactors leaving it to be used as an exhibition space for the people of Timaru in perpetuo.
This piece of music is entirely impromptu with some elements and sort of excerpts of piano pieces I am working on.
The audio has been extracted from a mono recording on an iPhone and attempts made to improve the sound by splitting it into three and imitating stereo and equalising.

Free To Breathe by Julzie
A song by Julie-Anne Carruthers 'Julzie'.
One of numerous sessions in the 'Green Bus Co.' a live in studio that I planted into a classic old housebus that once travelled around The Gypsy Fairs throughout New Zealand. It was my friend and now deceased Ralph Bennet Eades' bus. I lived in it for a number of years literally creating music from my bedroom in the back. Here Jules is singing her song which was, I think, a reflection of when a lot of the human race were being encouraged to smother their faces and inhibit their breathing to inhibit the spread of a coronavirus; SARS-CoV-2, but many refused including her and sometimes myself, a strange exercise in social conformity where a new practice was donned by many without sufficient questioning or extensive enough research and those who did not conform to wearing face cloths frowned upon by the brainwashed. The truth is there is no evidence that masking of the public had any significant impact and never has on the spread of infectious respiratory diseases and all the post published studies and meta-studies have confirmed that it did not do anything and in some cases made the spread worse and due to the mask being an added fomite make people prone to other pathogenic microbes collected on the mask when handled and touched or simply breathed through.
I added drums, bass and a few other things to Jules' song, enhancing the sound a little and in post production turned what was simply a guitar and vocal recording into something a bit more full and band like.

Suzanne by Leonard Cohen : An Interpretation by Francis Maxino amd Leigham Fitzpatrick
So Dunedin was a complete super blast of inspiring and somewhat evocative brilliance. Whilst striding nonchalantly through the inner city of Dunedin, I was surprised to be joined by a guitar weilding compatriot, a fine exceptionally musically talented young fellow, Leigham Fitzpatrick who joined me on a quest to find the longest piano in the world but were somnewhat distracted by playing music and singing together because our voices seemed to gel perfectly and automatically and naturally flowed from the moment we raised our instruments and voices in song...Quite remarkable. So after an afternoon of playing music, including playing cello! with pianos, going over a few songs a few times I ended up at The Inch Bar again, luckily, we were able to share our new found magical vocal blend with a version of 'Suzanne' by Leonard Cohen, though the more dour slower depressing version we did with piano earlier that day was much better...so here is 'Suzanne', a tender and exquisite song thrust into a slightly noisy wee bar with people talking about weird stuff in the background, all adds to the ambience?
