In this video Sootie is learning about the target stick. The goal here is for him to place his nose on the target and to not be using his paws. Pay attention to his face as he thinks his way through this exercise. He gets a click and reward for his successes.

Your cat needs to associate the clicker with receiving a treat. Notice how Sootie begins looking at me during this session. That's great! It means the connection is being made. Training sessions like this one should be less than 3 minutes long and the treats given in rapid succession.
