The ABANDONED Pyramid of Mexico!
Follow us as we venture through the Merida, Mexico area!
This place was one of the most important establishments in the 70’s and 80's in the area, however now it turns out to be an abandoned place that is only visited by curious people, photographers or even people who are in search of paranormal activity.
This place is known for the combination of Mayan architectural styles that can be easily seen.
This place has a scale replica of the ancient Chichén Itzá, which includes the Kukulcán Castle, the Observatory, a replica of the Sacred Cenote, which allegedly has a depth of 7 to 8 meters, or 23-26 feet.
Despite the fame that surrounded this restaurant and entertainment center where representations of sacred rituals were made, much has been speculated about its closure and closure.
Around this, there are several versions, which indicate in the first point that due to economic problems, it was almost unsustainable.
Another speculation is that a lot who worked there did not have the documentation that allowed them to work in the city, for which reason it was closed.
it is rumored that in addition to the restaurant service, they also began to offer “Some special” services, behind the scenes, if you get what I mean. Which also could have led to the business’s closure.

One of the best travel destinations?! You Decide!
A cenote is a natural pit, or sinkhole, resulting from the collapse of limestone bedrock that exposes groundwater.
The Yucatán Peninsula has an estimated 10,000 cenotes, water-filled sinkholes naturally formed by the collapse of limestone, located across the Yucatán Peninsula, in Mexico.
Cenotes are formed by the dissolution of rock and the resulting subsurface void, which may or may not be linked to an active cave system. This means that there is an opening at the bottom area somewhere into an active cave system that connects to other cenotes and, or to the ocean possibly. These are extremely dangerous for anyone who is not a certified diver with caving certifications as well as technical dive certifications. If you want to YouTube such videos go for it, but they usually are horror stories.
While the depth of this cenote, Yokdzonot, is estimated to be 45 meters, or 147 feet about, apparently the actual depth has not been confirmed for a few different reasons, but it is still a deeper cenote. While the deepest known is estimated at 282 meters, or 925 feet deep.

Is Merida really the safest city in Mexico?
Welcome back as we continue our 'Mexico Series'.
Today we venture out into Merida to find out what the city is all about.
Merida, population around 1.2 million people, is located in the South East part of Mexico in an area known as the Yucatan Peninsula. The city is said to be the safest in Mexico especially for tourism. The city is also located just a 4 1/2 hour drive from Cancun.
Near the city also lies many cenotes, as well as historic sites such as Chichen Itza.

ABANDONED Underground in the Paris Catacombs! - This is what happened!! (Second Attempt)
As Paris grew into its a role as a major European hub, it eventually ran into a major problem: by the 17th century, enough people had lived and died in Paris that its cemeteries were overflowing, overstuffed with graves to the point when corpses, at times became uncovered. And so the solution arose to place them in the centuries-old tunnels that had existed beneath the streets of Paris since the 13th century, remnants of a time when limestone quarries were mined to build Paris into a thriving city. By the time these burials ended, 6 million Parisians' bones came to their final resting place in the city's catacombs.
Those living in the Les Halles neighborhood near Les Innocents, the city's oldest and largest cemetery were among the first to complain, reporting the cemetery exuded a strong smell of decomposing flesh—even perfume stores claimed they couldn't do business because of the off-putting smell. In 1763, Louis XV issued an edict banning all burials from occurring inside the capital, but because of Church pushback, which didn't want cemeteries disturbed or moved, nothing else was done. Louis XVI, Louis XV's successor, continued the crusade, also proclaiming that all cemeteries should be moved outside of Paris. It wasn't until 1780, however, that anything was done. That year, a prolonged period of spring rain caused a wall around Les Innocents to collapse, spilling rotting corpses into a neighboring property. The city needed a better place to put its dead.
So it went to the tunnels, moving bones from the cemeteries five stories underground into Paris' former quarries. Cemeteries began to be emptied in 1786, beginning with Les Innocents. It took the city 12 years to move all the bones—from bodies numbering between 6 and 7 million—into the catacombs. Some of the oldest date back as far as the Merovingian era, more than 1,200 years ago.

Returning to the Abandoned Observatory
The abandoned Warner & Swasey Observatory, constructed by Worchester Warner and Ambrose Swasey as a gift for Case School of Applied Science. Worchester Warner and Ambrose Swasey founded the Warner & Swasey Company in the late 1800’s, and manufactured telescopes and other precision tools. Warner and Swasey became trustees of the Case School of Applied Science and constructed an observatory for the school.
Designed by the architectural firm Walker & Weeks, the observatory was built between 1918 and 1920. The abandoned observatory was sold at a foreclosure auction on September 6, 2005.

Abandoned 1st "Hungarian Reformed" Church of the Midwest
The Hungarian Reformed Churches in America are a mainline Reformed Protestant church in the United States that serves people of Hungarian ancestry.
After World War I, Hungarian people began to come to the United States. They established churches which were under the control of the Reformed Church in their home country. In 1921, an agreement was made to be part of the American Reformed churches. This was the Tiffini Agreement. One part of these churches accepted this - today this is the Calvin Synod of the United Church of Christ - but not all accepted the Tiffini Agreement.

The MASSIVE Abandoned Gary High School
The cornerstone of Horace Mann High School was laid on November 8, 1926, with the construction of the $1 million complex completed in 1928. The facility included a large two-tier auditorium and two-level gymnasium. By 1929, Horace Mann had an enrollment of 870.
Owing to the booming United States Steel mill at the front of Gary, the school’s roster jumped to nearly 2,400 students by 1937 and peaked around 2,600 in 1956.
The Gary School Board considered closing Horace Mann in 1975.
A new gymnasium was constructed in the 1980s.
By 2003, Horace Mann High School had 546 students. On April 13, 2004, the Gary School Board voted to close the school to save money. The last day for students was June 10 while the last day for teachers was June 11.
Let’s go see what is left of this massive high school.
