Stamp Collection: 2 Cent Washington 1909
Stamp Collection: 2 Cent Washington 1909
U.S. #358
1909 2¢ Washington
Bluish Paper
Issue Date: February 16, 1909
Quantity issued: 1,494,000 (estimate)
Printed by: Bureau of Engraving and Printing
Method: Flat plate
Watermark: Double line
Perforation: 12
Color: Carmine
Brief History:
Like so many of the other stamps in the Washington-Franklin Series, this variety came about because of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing’s desire to create a better product. One of the main problems the Bureau was encountering was paper shrinkage. Since the stamps were wet printed they would shrink as the paper dried, causing irregular and “off center” perforations, which resulted in a considerable amount of waste.
To combat the problem, the Bureau changed the composition of the paper by adding 35% wool rag to the wood pulp. Although stamps printed on this paper are known for having a bluish tint, the best way to check them is to examine the gum on the back.

Brief History:
The monetary system of Trinidad and Tobago has known a great number of currencies, due to the occupation of the island by the main colonial powers, which came mostly from France, Spain and Great Britain.
After landing in the island in Trinidad in 1797, the British found a very basic monetary system without any bank.
Between 1954 and 1957 the first British banknotes in the Caribbean appeared in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 100.
This system was maintained during the effort of the West Indies Federation, and two years later, in 1962, Trinidad and Tobago achieved Independence.
Trinidadian dollar was introduced in 1964, replacing British West Indies dollar with a 1 to 1 parity.

Brief History:
From the Currency Reform in 1962 to 1969
The new government carried out the Currency Reform in 1962 to replace 圓-denominated notes with won-denominated ones and to use the unit 'jeon' for small value transactions.
This measure is significant in terms of the adoption of won-denominated notes rather than the achievement of economic goals.
From 1962, the government carried out a series of five-year economic development plans. Another Currency Reform was carried out on June 10, 1962 to support the initiatives and to channel hoarded wealth into industrial development.
Although failing to accomplishing its intended economic goal, the Currency Reform in 1962 is important in the history of money that it introduced the won-denominated currency still in use.

Information reference: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/note204675.html
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syrian_pound
Brief History:
The Syrian pound or Syrian lira (Arabic: الليرة السورية, romanized: al-līra as-sūriyya; sign: £S or LS; code: SYP) is the national currency of Syria and is issued by the Central Bank of Syria.
The pound is subdivided into 100 piastres (قرش qirsh, plural قروش qurūsh in Arabic), although piastre coins are no longer issued. The ISO code for the Syrian pound is SYP.
In 1958, the French language was removed from banknotes and replaced by English. Notes were issued for £S1, £S5, £S10, £S25, £S50, £S100 and £S500. In 1966, the design of the £S25, £S50, and £S100 notes were changed.
In 1976 and 1977, the designs changed for all the denominations except the £S500 note.
In 1997 and 1998, a new series of notes was introduced in denominations of £S50, £S100, £S200, £S500 and £S1,000, with the lower denominations replaced by coins.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sierra_Leonean_leone
Brief History
The leone was introduced on 4 August 1964. It replaced the British West African pound at a rate of 1 pound = 2 leones (i.e., 1 leone = 10 shillings).
When it was introduced, one leone was worth precisely half a pound sterling or US$1.40. The leone was worth more than the U.S. dollar until the 1980s, when the currency started to devalue rapidly.
With the introduction of decimal currency in 1964, a new series of Banknotes was introduced by the Bank of Sierra Leone. Originally called Shillings, the unit name "Leone" was finally decided upon.

Cryptocleidus
Cryptoclidus (/krɪptoʊˈklaɪdəs/ krip-toh-KLY-dəs) is a genus of plesiosaur reptile from the Middle Jurassic period of England, France, and Cuba. Cryptoclidus was a plesiosaur whose specimens include adult and juvenile skeletons, and remains which have been found in various degrees of preservation in England, Northern France, Russia, and South America. Its name, meaning "hidden clavicles", refer to its small, practically invisible clavicles buried in its front limb girdle.
The type species was initially described as Plesiosaurus eurymerus by Phillips (1871). The species name "wide femur" refers to the forelimb, which was mistaken for a hindlimb at the time.
