What a year of personal / family growth as well as many blessings in our businesses. 2023 was a year of striving to make our businesses work for us and within the lifestyle we desired. Our prayer for 2024 is to continue serving the Lord through these and other opportunities! 2023 brought us: - Exciting growth and development of our young boys - Many adventures as a family in and outside of Alaska - Ups and downs to help us grow and come closer to one another as a family and trust in the Lord - 1.3 Million in combined business revenue - growing our rental fleet to 9 vehicles - the beginning of launching our private rental platform - friendships, business networking, and countless blessings

I resigned my commission from the Active Duty US Army and officially began our journey of full time Entrepreneurship. It was the beginning of a life changing couple of years. Now we earn more than if I was a military officer or computer engineer and have total control over our time / lifestyle. It wasn't easy and was full of ups and downs -- 2020s global events certainly made things interesting. Throughout the entire transition we felt financially secure because we had a roadmap to take our side hustles to full time capacity. The 2023 calendar year is over and now it's time to finalize profit / loss statements and work on the dreaded taxes! Here's 5 things that often are forgotten--- (bookmark this so you remember later!) 1. For inventory based businesses now is the time to scrub your active COG on hand. Especially for Amazon FBA sellers things disappear or get damaged, it's part of business and you need to expense those cogs. 2. Business meals - 50% of these can be expensed if biz related 3. Dues and subscriptions - think about all the softwares or subscriptions you have, if they are business related then expense them. For example we use YouTube daily for networking and business education -- YouTube premium is a worthwhile investment and expense. 4. Business mileage - if you drove your personal vehicle for business related tasks you can write off 65.5 cents per mile! 5. Travel - in 2023 we had several trips required for networking or other business purposes. Education and events are popular examples.
