My own take on an old Stones rocker

My own take of this classic rocker. Just me and my geet.

Some say this song, the Pyramid's "Penetration", was the last "surf" song to make the top ten. If so surf sure went on in style!

Here's another original song arranged for my voice and guitar, accompanied by The Black Box Band

"On and On (She Keeps Goin')" is an original song I wrote about my Dear One, Jan. Something that anyone who knows her will quickly realize! Here heard/seen in an informal video with my singing and playing being accompanied by The Black Box Band.

I made this video using a less than pristine copy of The Abstracts' 1965 45 rpm single and photos taken at various concerts 1964 thru 1966. It was this video, first posted on YouTube in 2011 that allowed pop music historian Mike Dugo to 'find me out' -- something that led to the release of that year's Break-A-Way Records LP, "Hey, Let's Go Now" and the CD in 2012.

This song just seemed SO perfect to sing accompanied by a guitalele. I.e., a six-string uke

As a young guitarist, age 13 or 14, "mastering" this song was seen to be simply IT. Yeah, I still love playing it! All these many years later

This arrangement of the song is pretty much note for note what I created after hearing it on the radio when I was about 14. An amalgam of the various versions then on the airwaves, with a few touches of my own. It's still a fun song to play! Even after some 60 years!

Here's my own take on this lovely instrumental classic. Built in part upon chord melodies. Just me and the Black Box Band.

This song, at least as much as any other, to me reveals the glory of so-called "surf" music. Its simple melody. Its tonal purity. Its 'air' and joy. Here I am playing it on a modern mid-pried remake of the classic surf guitar -- a Squier Vintage Modified Jazzmaster. Lots of reverb, a splash of echo, and the solid backing of the Black Box Band. "Surfs up!" Enjoy!

This is a shortened and 'easyfied' version of a raag I wrote for Jan when we were first seeing one-another back in the summer of 1968. No, my fingers no longer allow me to play it as I once did. But the basics are intect.
