The Lion City - Singapore
Singapore, known as the “Lion City,” gets its name from the Malay word "singa", which means “lion,” and "pura", which means “city.” Studies have shown, however, that lions have never lived there, and the legendary lion seen by Prince Sang Nila Utama, founder of ancient Singapore, was in all likelihood a Malayan tiger.
According to the Malay Annals, Singapura was named after a strange beast seen by Sang Nila Utama while hunting in Temasek, and he was informed that the beast must have been a lion. He decided to stay in Temasek and named the city he founded Singapura or "Lion City".
Singapore—known variously as the “Lion City” or “Garden City,” the latter for its many parks and tree-lined streets—has also been called “instant Asia” because it offers the tourist an expeditious glimpse into the cultures brought to it by immigrants from all parts of Asia.
Today, the Singapore economy is one of the most stable in the world, with no foreign debt, high government revenue, and a consistently positive surplus. The Singapore economy is mainly driven by exports in electronics manufacturing and machinery, financial services, tourism, and the world's busiest cargo seaport.

It's well known that Singapore has one of the lowest crime rates in the world. ... The main reason why crime rates in Singapore are generally very low is due to the severe penalties that are handed out for crimes that may seem petty to people from other parts of the world. You and your family can live in Singapore with the confidence that your personal safety is always in good hands. Singapore is widely regarded as one of the safest countries in the world, with consistently low crime rates, a transparent legal system, and a reliable police force supported by proactive citizens.
