Public Utilities and their partners - can they at least try to be a bit more self aware?
Public utilities serve the public in their respective areas, and should be sensitive to the interests of those areas. It's a bit shocking to find out that in areas home to the Big 3 American auto manufacturers, these public utilities or their partners don't seem to exhibit self-awareness. In Michigan, you'd expect these partners to do business with interests in the area, like GM, Ford, Chrysler/Dodge. The same as In Tennessee, you'd expect partners of the Tennessee Electric Cooperative to consider GMC, Cadillac, Volkswagon, or Nissan, and in Alabama you'd expect Alabama Power and its partners to consider utilizing Mazda, Toyota, or Hyundai. It's self-interest which coincides with the interests of those they serve.
We expect companies, partners, and utilities to patronize companies that benefit us, as their customers. It strengthens our local economy, and in turn, strengthens their bottom line. It's just common sense.
Are the purchasing decisions being made by people who are aware of these realities?

Small Towns and Dollar Stores
Small towns across America struggle to keep their character, and yet a product of modern America's craving for convenience and savings means Dollar Stores are being dropped into these small towns, often driving out the few remaining small businesses, with the money being sucked from these towns into giant retail corporations. What do you think? Tell me, is the convenience worth losing these small businesses and emptying out the legacy buildings in these historic towns?
