Hummingbirds like/need a simple syrup of 1 cup sugar to 4 cups water. It does not need to be colored. The feeder should be refreshed and washed weekly to prevent mold. I take them down towards the end of summer when wasps become a nuisance. The birds will be migrating soon anyway.

A Cabbage White butterfly on lemon balm flowers. And of course in the background airplanes, cicadas & the ever present Blue Jays.

All kinds of bees, wasps, hornets & flies love Goldenrod. This is a tall variety I leave standing to attract pollinators for the health of my garden. It also alerts me to active wasps in the immediate area.
