The First Barbary War was the first overseas war fought by the United States. It took place during the Presidency of Thomas Jefferson and lasted from 1801 to 1805. It is also known as the Barbary Coast War or the Tripolitan War. In the war, the United States fought against pirates from the nations known collectively as the Barbary States those nations were: Algiers Morocco Tunis Tripoli The incident arose over tributes that were customarily paid to these nations by U.S traders. In 1801, Tripoli increased demands for payment. President Jefferson refused the demand and Tripoli declared war on the United States by cutting down the flagstaff in front of the U.S. Consulate. Congress authorized the use of military force for the protection of American interests in the Mediterranean. On August 1, 1801, the USS Enterprise defeated the Tripoli at sea. In 1802, Jefferson increased the presence of the Navy in the area by deploying additional ships under the command of Commodore Edward Preble. On July 14, 1804, under Preble’s command, the Navy attacked Tripoli, but the most famous event of the war occurred in April and May of 1805 with the Battle of Derma. General William Eaton and First Lieutenant Presley O’Bannon led a force of eight Marines and 500 mercenaries from Alexandria, Egypt across the desert to the city of Derma, which they laid siege to. Upon their victory, the American flag was raised. This marked the first time the American flag was raised in victory on foreign soil. The events of the First Barbary War are memorialized by the line in the Marine’s Hymn, “the shores of Tripoli” and the Tripoli Monument that stands at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Significance of the First Barbary War The First Barbary War was important for several reasons: It was the first foreign war conducted by the United States and was fought entirely overseas on land and water. Prior to the war, the United States ended the practice of paying tribute to the Barbary States. The outcome of the war established the presence of the United States as a military force on a global scale.

It can happen before the Rapture, simultaneously with the Rapture, or shortly after the Rapture. “And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes. Thus saith the Lord GOD; Art thou he of whom I have spoken in old time by my servants the prophets of Israel, which prophesied in those days many years that I would bring thee against them? And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, that my fury shall come up in my face. For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken, surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel.” (Ezekiel 38: 16-19) When the vast coalition led by Russia and Iran marches, the God of the Holy Bible will say, “It is enough.” There is little question but that Gog and Magog are the Soviet Union, the ancient land of the Scythians. There is a great display of Scythian art, history, and archaeological discoveries in the Hermitage Museum of Saint Petersburg. Note this statement by Dr. Onyshkevych. “Russian explorers first brought Scythian artworks recovered from Scythian burial mounds to Peter the Great in the early eighteenth century. These works formed the basis of the collection held by the Heritage Museum in Saint Petersburg. Catherine the Great was so impressed by the material recovered from the kurgans and burial mounds, that she ordered a systematic study be made of the works. However, this was well before the development of modern archaeological techniques.” Another connection between the Scythians and the land of Russia says,“Recent digs in Belsk, Ukraine uncovered a vast city believed to be the Scythian capitol Gelonus described by Herodotus. A kurgan, just south of Kiev, found in the 1990s, has revealed one of the few unlooted tombs of a Scythian Chieftain.” This gives us ample proof of the connection in history.

Jerusalem is an Eternal City and will soon be the capital of the One Thousand Year Kingdom of Jesus Christ. It is a simple matter to understand all this hoopla over this breathtaking city. Presently it is simply a place of different religions and different claims of possession. It is like a diamond in the rough and being cast about by political forces. But in God’s plan, it is His city and He has His angels keeping watch. “I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the Lord, keep not silence.” (Isaiah 62:6) We are reminded to keep this matter on our hearts and continuously in our conversations with God. You have nothing to fear that somehow this city will be obliterated. It can no more happen than for the sun to fall. Trouble is ahead, but very soon God will step out of His Heavenly Jerusalem and take possession of His earthly Jerusalem. An honest and Biblically sound evaluation of Jerusalem’s immediate future can be quite unnerving. For someone that loves Jerusalem as deeply as I do, it is not easy to accept the truth. Praying for the peace of the “chosen city” has been a commitment of my life for many years. The Bible commands every believing individual, Jew or Gentile, to be deeply committed to this responsibility. It is easy once we accept this challenge to then fail to see the prophetic facts of what must occur to accomplish the answer. When we pray for the “Peace of Jerusalem,” we also are praying for the perfect fulfillment of all acts of judgment and prophecies that will ultimately assure the “peace.” Actually, when you pray for peace, you are praying for the Biblical process, which is terrifying to discover

The falling away is so swift that most believers are too slow to resist. The old ways of church life and faithful attendance are gone with the wind. People listen to me talk about abandonment in the faith and I must sound like I’ve lost it. No, no, no. I’ve found it. Oil in my lamp stand and fire in my soul is my life and I love it. Any moment God will honor His faithful children with signs that shake the world it cannot fail. My heart aches because so many who once walked in Holy Ghost power are now barely lukewarm. I suggest only 20 percent or less of Pentecostals are going in the Rapture. If the Bible standards are right (and there can be no doubt) it is heart throbbing to even think of where the church is at. Who do you know who follows the Lord’s words, “My church shall be called a House of Prayer.” (Matthew 21:13) I keep begging my family to become prayer warriors and they are too busy. Covid 19 and the Demons of Destruction: Covid 19 has been a picture of coming sorrows. It actually began in a land of heathenism. The Lord Jesus Christ is hated as never before in church history. This cannot be seen more clearly than in Revelation 13. Satan is a master imitator. His ability to deceive such a multitude is in his imitation. The most powerful is this final hour when he imitates the Trinity of God. While many Pentecostal church leaders are embracing the “Jesus Only” deception, Satan must be shouting with glee. His false trinity will be a master stroke. Each of the three will duplicate almost every act in the Bible. The Antichrist will even imitate a death stroke on himself and return with a greater deception. The doctrine of “Jesus Only” is certainly far removed from the Biblical text yet a large company is embracing this farfetched concept. I have never met a “Jesus Only” person whom I could reason with from the Bible. It is pure deception.

The present priestly ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ is within the Heavenly temple of which the temple of Solomon was but a shadow. The book of Hebrews records the setting of this temple in the Holy Mountain of God on the sides of the North. “Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.” (Hebrews 8:1-2) It is an incredible stretch of our mind to grasp even a little of the glory in His Heavenly temple. Maybe if we try to grasp the glory of Solomon’s temple, and then compare the earthly in its limited form with the unlimited of the Heavenly, we can get just a glimpse.
